Hello,

I been playing 1.13 for quite a long time and now that it seems that we have arrived at a relatively stable point in the development, I thought I would do a YouTube play through... I am hoping to bring to light some of the remaining bugs and maybe answer a few questions as well... I am keeping the saved game files for future reference... I haven't done any voice over as yet, but I hope to in the future... (This is my first real YouTube undertaking: your patience is appreciated.)

"Big Al's Jagged Alliance 2 Channel"

Please feel free to respond here and/or in the comment section of the videos...

Thank you,
BA

Two hours in and still in Omerta? cheeky

Some tips:
Grab what you need from sector inventory and sell all remaining junk with ctrl-shift-s
Also, Consider moving items between sector and mercs with ctrl-click, a real time saver IMO
Try using cover display when sneaking, either toggle with [del] key or use the cover display menu with ctrl-c

Also, what are you using to zoom in?

I like to take out as much opposition as I can around Omerta until after the queen's counter attack... That way I accumulate some working capital before I approach Drassen where I am likely to be tied down for some time acquiring supplies and support...

I do enjoy sifting through the loot (and I edit out a good chunk of slow time from that footage) however I like the sound of ctrl-shift-s and will try to remember to use it... I will try to use [del] more as well...

I edit with "Shotcut" and I use the "Rotate" filter (combines rotate and zoom functions) for the zoom...

Thank you for your feedback!

And there I was thinking someone added a zoom feature to 1.13 and I missed it... It sure would be helpful though.

It seems that my editing skills are starting to improve... During tactical battles, I am working on my technique to show actions more and the rest less... Already, the battles flow much smoother as seen in the 3rd installment... I hope to improve the pacing of the other segments of the videos, as well, as time goes by...

I have pointed out a bug in video 005:

*** There is a bug that can be seen at 14:55: when militia is selected for movement, sometimes there is already a path plotted... If you try to set a path without canceling the unintended path: CRASH to desktop! Workaround: always cancel the unintended path before plotting a new path... Still, you don't always notice and you then have to start over...***

Ok, I have high lighted a bug involving militia at: 50:57 in video 008 JA2 8408 2364... Only some of the militia are available for the mouse click commands... Seems like two different militia mechanics (possibly local militia and PMC?) are not co-operating or some such?

Also, I think I have improved the flow of the videos so that it is much less tedious to watch... Editing suggestions welcome!

The battle for Drassen!

I have highlighted a bug (I hope it's not a feature!) in video 009 JA2 8408 2364 at 03:29... MG turns 90 degrees from the given target and opens up... No damage done this time but I have had a few team members shot up by this in the past causing me to have to reload from a saved game... Frustrating!

I've been getting this way more often than I'd like. It seems to be related to the spread fire feature - try it in real time, it should be quite easy to force the bug to appear that way. Also, I've noticed weapons wear out way too fast in real time, especially LMGs during burst fire. Last I checked, it was hard to finish a 200rd belt before mercs refused to use the weapon anymore.

Let me know it it's not just me, I've been meaning to look into these for a while now but time's been scarce.

Video 017:
Another MG glitch at 1:13:39 - this time I changed facing before firing and still shot the guy on my right, without turning... Frustrating...

(Also - my SAM actually shot down an enemy helo at 47:25!)

I am back to work full time and so no longer have time to put 6 hours of editing for every hour of screen time... Instead, I will uploading with minimal editing for the foreseeable future... Sorry about that!

Your longplay is interesting, but hard to follow. Could You add voiceover to explain what is happening in the game or maybe write what is going on in each episode? I have already learned the new 1.13 is very different from the stable 7609 I am playing. The battles are fast and furious with the militia hanging around with Your squad of mercs.

I decided against voiceover as I wanted to play my best game without dividing my attention... I had thought about writing up a synopsis of each episode but I thought that would get too repetitious and time consuming (see above post)...

My strategy is quite simple: control mines, loot enemies! Deny the queen income and steal wealth! Hire as many PMC as can afford for front line action and eventually train as many militia as needed for rear area garrison duty... Develop and equip the core squad for the final assaults...

There a lot of interesting mods out there, but I decided to stick with the main 1.13 trunk although it seems that there is not enough play testing and double checking before new features are thrown in, leading to delayed bug repair and long waits for fixes... But then, who do I think I am, to criticize free upgrades? happy

Well, at this point I have had so many crashes and restarts that the game has lost all continuity... Therefore I am going to let this play through end here... Thank you for watching and for your comments...

Care to elaborate on the crashes? Did all of the crashes seem random or have you noticed some things make the game crash more often? Did it get worse the longer you played?

I would say, mostly when Army and Militia clash without MERCs or IMPs present... I hope most of this has been fixed with the Individual Militia related changes that have happened since 8409... I have setup a new installation of 8506 2398 and I am beginning a new test run...

Nope! It seems it is still borked... I guess I will take a break from the frustration for now...
