Hi all,

i have been trying for almost 2 days in a row to make Shady-Job and SOG69-Vietnam working with 1.13 but with no results.
I first tried with the latest game dir (as per OP) than with other Gamedir (but was never successful). Also tried "JA2_rev.4870_2011_GameDir" or "Release 7435: 25 October, 2014 (Build: 7609)"

1) Installed clean JA2 gold
2) Copy Gamedir on it (first tried with latest gamedir, then with other as stated above)
3) Put downloaded mods in the Data-UB folder (as per OP).
4) Put downloaded profiles in JA2 folder profiles (as per OP).
5) Launch game using "INI Editor"

I always get errors, sometime game crash on start and sometimes game start but i get the initial black screen with various errors (red) and missing file (yellow) and have to 'esc' to quit.

Is there a "safe" way to make these mods working? Which gamedir should i use with which exe version? Everything is so confused ... this game is lasted so long and there are posts on posts as you would expect ...

I am lost, tried SOG69-Vietnam on non-modified version of JA2 and it is so nice, it would be great to play it with 1.13 features.

Anyone have an idea?!

NOTE: I am using Windows 7 64bit, modded game on D: drive not in program filesX86 ...

I can confirm, a year later admittedly (yes yes, don't bump old threads), that this is still a problem. The same bug for Vietnam as here. If that link doesn't work for you for some reason, the main error message is:

File:. \ Init.cpp
Line: 482
Function: LoadExternalGameplayData
Inventory \ MercStartingGear25.xml

etc. [EDIT: line 482 instead of 450 this time]

A similar but different message for Shady Job which refers to the file- BettyInventory.xml . I have screen-grabs for both if of any help.

Using the SVN files (both 1.13 base and Addons), latest UB exe build. I'll have to try some other UB mods tomorrow. It's a real shame neither of these don't work as I've heard great things about each. speechless

hi everyone, i have problems running JA2 1.13 UB using latest SCI from Depri repository (8684 & 8694 release). the game start normally with few red text error from ini files. up to campaign settings where i can only choose between 2 difficulties (novice & experienced). After i click start campaign, the game goes black screen with music playing until it stops.

is there anyone else who had same problems with me? i'm using fresh install of GOG JA2 gold version and latest SCI. no other mods used.

gentlemen,

at least i made tiny progress. i overcame missing file error for MercStartingGear25.xml
[9.04392] : file "TableData\Inventory\MercStartingGear25.xml" does not exist

i did not why, but game searched inventory folder instead of Items folder, so i just copied and managed to get to the title screen
the other thing in Vietnam SOG VFS file data directory named as Data-Mod-SOG69-Vietnam
so i renamed folder as stated above.

few red text errors and title screen is available. However after starting game on defaults Black screen, audio track plays and finishes and nothing happens not sure

Is it possible to play this mod?
8766 UB exe.

Check the changes made in GameInit.lua in 7609/unstable, you probably need to replace

	elseif ( newDIFFICULTY_LEVEL == DIF_LEVEL_MEDIUM ) then
		iStartingCash = GetStartingCashExperienced()
	elseif ( newDIFFICULTY_LEVEL == DIF_LEVEL_HARD ) then	
		iStartingCash = GetStartingCashExpert()
	elseif ( newDIFFICULTY_LEVEL == DIF_LEVEL_INSANE ) then
		iStartingCash = GetStartingCashInsane()
	end
	
	AddTransactionToPlayersBook( Fincances.ANONYMOUS_DEPOSIT, 0, GetWorldTotalMin(), iStartingCash )

with

Or just use stable 7609 as it's much closer to the mod version you are trying to use (I think UB support was added soon after stable 4870, so anything after that is not supported in mod files).

"TableData\Inventory\MercStartingGear25.xml" is the right path, since in base game MercStartingGear.xml is also stored in TableData\Inventory folder and not in Items folder.

Thank you. It did help me to go further and now I can see laptop and Vietnam map. But as soon as i press forward game crashes before loading sector. One other thing mercs are hired temporarily not for rest of the mission as it should be. I will post error tomorrow and try to find stable version. Any suggestions on that?

i did 2nd installation.
updated svn to latest, then changed revision to 2188 and downloaded 7616 exe.
mod folders:
data D:\games\Jagged Alliance 2\Data-UB\AddOns\Data-Mod-SOG69-Vietnam
profile D:\games\Jagged Alliance 2\Profiles\UserProfile_UnfinishedBusiness\Addons\SOG69-Vietnam

game run with no issues. minor errors(red text)
traveled 2 sector. had 2 battles.

the issues i encountered:
as mentioned before by others - economic system. same as original JA2
most weapons have wrong icons/names/ ammotypes
my IMP got by old method no weapon at all (sniper/auto). only .38 ammo
Some text in Polish(?) language. Seen on screen.
I went through xml files and some descriptions were in Polish as well.
