As soon as an enemy squad retakes the empty D2 sam site where i blew up the control,
i get the message "airspace over X is no longer secure, arrival sector moved to Y",
i.e. they managed to repair the missile control panel instantly.
This happened 2 times as i retook D2 and left Elio there to remote-detonate the TNT
when the enemies entered the sector again.
While an explanation for 2nd time may be a bug caused by explosion triggered and leaving sector in the same turn,
(= effectively not registering the blowing up of the panel)
the 1st time the enemy entered D2 when it was already empty, because my team had left hours ago,
and they instantly repaired the missile control panel. Well, they may have pulled a cart with the part on it:)


During one of the checks whether its reliably reproduceable,
the enemy completely missed to repair the control for over 30 days the 1st time,
i reconqured the sector with cheats and left so they had another chance on entry
but after the enemy retook the sam site a 2nd time again,
they failed to repair the control agai, for >40 days, then i stopped the test.


Happened with latest dev build aka r8517, on 2 different machines, under win xp,7&10.
Install appears ok, all changes i made in ini xml etc havent caused such behaviour in previous dev builds.
History log and forum search did not reveal any related changes to me
that would allow to expect a difference to what was afair ~14 days for sam site control repairs.

If I recall there is ancient code that causes the AI to instantly repair the SAM when they retake the SAM, but only if there are elites on the team. I think added code to make the enemy repair routine a bit more logical, with the AI paying for it and the thing taking time, but that old part might still be in there if ASD is not active - so that part is not a bug, that's an original Sirtech feature cheeky

I'm not sure why wiped out a SAM garrision and then destroyed it afterwards. Either take it and keep it, or just blow it up by infiltrating it - if you don't wipe out the garrison, the AI has no reason to send reinforcements, in which case it won't be repaired.

Thanks for the info, i thought it takes ~ 14 days until control panels are repaired,
and that it will only happen if the garrison is filled up and an elite is among those new soldiers.
Since i never lost air control immediately on at least a dozen similar occasions, i appeared to be a bug.

btw, the 2 times they complety missed to repair the panel, i assured with teleport that both squads contained some elites,
else it would not have been such a surprise to me.



I was literally forced to wipe out the garrison in D2,
needed to get new mercs directly into NW area, Elio already in team so no affordable scout left to hire,
combined with enemy investigate sector etc, the new guys might not even have made it from A10 to San Mona.

I try to stay away from some of the stuff i recognize the AI cant handle because of its limitations,
like not reinstalling the part thats obligatoy for a sam site because no soldier was hurt.
However we are better prepared now with commandos and armour from Kingpins goons;),
nevertheless Barry has placed new rc explosives just in case,
as i prefer not to train militia at sam sites early, they are usually wiped out quickly when left alone.

Well, I guess I will eventually get to revisit that region of the code, though it'll be a while, but I will keep it in mind.
