Encountered a weird "vehicle appears" bug in AV 1.10
Not sure whether this is the right topic to report, in case not pls feel free to move or delete this message.
If forced to guess i would estimate its code related, and/or perhaps linked to mod having > 2 vehicles and team 32 members?
Other option could be smth like npc_transformed_to_terrain_on_teleport_error.

Bug
When a merc "discovers" a mine(which she has placed before), suddenly a vehicle appears nearby!?
Vehicle looks like the Wardens Jeep which we added to our team in Tixa,
so i checked whether the jeep(=terrain) does not appear if i dismmiss the Jeep(=npc), and it does not!

More weird stuff:
If i place one or more mercs on tile(s) where the jeep appears, it will still appear but not block the way.
The jeep appears to be invulnerable no matter whether it blocks the way or not,
at least it was unimpressed by Ivans and Stogies mortar shells.

The bug happens with 7609 and AI_r679 exe, 7609-exe even refused to load the save one time (out of >10),
error message was smth about "temp"&"map".

Dld link to save incl ini/xml files: sabercathost[dot]com/9mpC/car_appears_bug.7z

Pls note that there were more changes made than .ini&.xml files may reveal:
I started with mod default swettings, i.e. drop all, sci-fi etc etc,
but could not stand the flood of items after some time and decided to change drop all & sci-fi midgame with ram hack,
of course the game had already selected sci-fi maps;), but i cant imagine the link from car to that inconsistency.

I assume you play some mod, because there is no jeep in Tixa in stock. Personally I cannot help you as the AI exes are from a different svn tree... but why exactly are you doing some 'ram hack'? I mean, weird stuff happening in that case isn't exactly unexpected.

I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.

If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.

I loaded your save twice (without your ini & xml) and had no unusual behaviour. I removed the flags and then replaced them - without any vehicle appearing.

Yes i play Arulco Vacations version 1.10, sorry for short form.

Ram hack was done as i could not stand the flood of items,
not to speak of saves size, even with drop all now turned off the saves are at 32MB on day 23
(thats wasteful huge for someone who surfed the net before the web existed;)
and i was curious to see what happens if i also change from sci-fi to realistic
(despite being rather sure the game had already selected the related maps on start)
Weird stuff happening is not unexpected but rather unlikely for 1 byte hacks,
change of drop all on/off, ncth/octh, inventory manipulation cost and interrupt system are
rather well confirmed to work, each at least one campaign to the end, (ncth/octh ~a dozen times)
i do hacks since decades, already on C64, later TP bioses to adjust whitelists, suppress battery check(FALSE prevent bios update)
where you have to be rather careful as faulty bios in soldered chip is harder than Jeep suddenly appearing;)

This was also 1 byte for each switch, perhaps you can determine whether it causes havoc:

Compared 2 saves with different starting conditions(drop all yes/no etc)
and identified string of bytes starting at offset ~130h+, change in saves showed no effect in game,
found mathing string in ram at C08800h only, change of bytes in ram had effect in game.
Dont remember exactly which 2 bytes i changend in this playthrough, but rather sure it were the "correct" ones,
as drop all is definitely off(sigh;) and game tells me "realistic" on [V] key,
although of course i get e.g. the hole in Tixa prison underground sector,
and as soon as i punched them aliens all to death;), the head miner tells me he had to close the facility.

1st sorry for late reply, began posting last message when yours wasnt yet up.

Thats weird given that i repeatedly started the game with different exe,
and since "removed the flags and replaced them" was not what i initially did,
(planted only the last mine and "discovered" it which shuts the junkyard completely off)
i now removed other mines, placed again, and the jeep reliably appeared when i "discovered" any.

Checked the install for all new files, found a couple in \shadeTables and \temp,
the latter probably map data, i guess taken from save?

Anyway its not a big issue for me, we can close the case, only thought it would be worth a report.
Will allow the car to appear as non colliding & non vision obstructing terrain,
so it does not have any effect on the snipers lof and continue the game.
(early UC also had lots of those non collision cars, but the didnt appear out of nowhere)

Besides, how do you like my terrain changes on your map of Estoni?
(note: explosives are worth less than the cover used by enemies may cost you)
The "gas" sign took several grenades and 2 mines before we were able to bring it down
(as Seven`s soldiers stubbornly refused to enter mined tiles and do the work for us;)

While it may sound unbelievable, would probably question it myself on reading,
the following happened:
On loading the save which was created after the car had appeared,
the jeep did not exist any more, simply vanished.
Also confirmed there is no collision on tiles that were occupied by the path obstructing version of the jeep.

Checked again with 7609 and AI_r679 exe, and both collision/non_collision versions of the jeep.

I hadn't thought of that - using explosives to clear cover - but I imagine you are correct that it costs less than having enemies in cover!

I'm glad the jeep disappeared!

For the record, terrain-car continued to appear on discovering a mine,
incl in central SAM site, always on the same tiles in each sector,
identical to the tiles where the Wardens Jeep was standing in Tixa.

Moving the Jeep in Tixa to map border appears to have resolved the glitch completely.

Btw unfortunately my merc failed to place activated rc explosives in Jeep inventory,
they always blew up, guess its not possible at all,
so could not test if explosion occurs in sector with terrain-car just spawned
