v1.11 of Arulco Vacations is no longer being supported. v12 is the current version.
I have merged elements of the SDO combat system into AV. I am eager to hear feedback on this as it is a big change.
There's a new merchant in Alma - Raul Mendez from Unfinished Business.
There has been a lot of work on the Facilities to allow for different play styles. I need feedback on how they now work together with different players styles so I can tweak them in the future. There are Facilities to allow for a supposed criminal partnership with Kingpin as his henchman, Facilites to allow the Player to become a tyrant Warlord with Secret Police and a Death Squad, and on the other side there are more facilities to allow the Player to win the hearts and minds of the Arulcan people as well as their freedom. Of course, using Facilities for all of this distances the Player from the supposed events happening while they use the Facilities - but there are enough benefits and penalties to the various Facilities that they should give a Player lots to think about if they are so inclined to try. I think there is fun in that, and that's why I included them. But like so much else in JA2 v1.13-Land . . . you have many options, and very little is mandatory
There are also several new or expanded civilian Factions in v1.11, and there can be civilian rebellions - certain factions will rebel against the player or both the player and the Queen if one if their Faction is injured or killed. There are new Facilities to win the hearts and minds of these discontented Factions to keep them happy, but once they revolt there is no turning back. For the player who wants to start Armageddon in Arulco . . . you can now rest assured you can wage war against almost everybody if you so wish.
Many of the maps have been tweaked to make them easier to move around in, and to be more fun to fight in. Army patrols and garrisons have been tweaked. Merc & IMP gear kits have been tweaked.
Many new weapons and gear have been added . . . including incendiary shotgun shells and the new Arulcan experimental XM-42 Flame-Thrower.
Much more has been done - it's been a long 8-9 months of fixing, adding, tweaking, and testing. Now I need other eyes on it, other hands playing it. We all play differently, and I welcome feedback from your point of view on how AV works with your style of play.

Sorry to be a pain Ed, but Mediafire doesn't work for me (website blocked in china, and when i use a vpn the downloads don't start correctly).
Is there another host you could use for the file?
I'm currently running 1.10 via sevenfm's modpack, will i be able to paste the new version over the old one?
Does 1.11 intergrate the latest +ai exe(r946) developed by sevenfm?

I noticed during a new campaign that neither of my paramedics (Ira and Thor) can perform surgery out of combat?
Didn't test in combat yet, but i seem to remember when trying to give medical aid with a med-kit during combat i was not offered the usual option to perform surgery either.

I can verify Wolf00's comment, concerning the black screen when flipping through the bombs pages in the BR website. Having the same problem in my game also.
And something i forgot to mention on the 1.10 version, it exists in 1.11 as well. Drassen airport, the little enclosure with the shed, just to the left of the enclosure where we receive our shipments. In that little shed, there is entrenching tool which is inaccessible due to some clutter in front of the shed. The tool is not important, we can get them everywhere, and the blacked out slot in sector inventory soesn't appear to cause problems. Just annoying to see it there. Do inaccessible items can cause problems down the road ? And is it possible to remove that clutter with a small patch ?
Anyway, i thought i'd mention it, just in case.

Didn't know that, then again i haven't made it to Cambria yet, i'll investigate.
By the way, when i ask Devin to show me his inventory, the game crashes, same as in 1.10. Met him in San Mona, in the slimy guy's bar, between the whorehouse and the sex shop.

I wish the 1.13 had better burst and auto fire recoil code implementation. Right now when you burst, its either lazor beam or way way off. Nothing in between, because it either roll the chance to apply recoil counter force, or not. Nothing against AV 1.11, just as a side note, why balancing recoil for burst is PITA.
BTW some more heavy duty weaponry would be welcome. 20mm and 25mm grenade launchers, and that fancy chinese grenade sniper rifle[DBB mod has it] https://www.theepochtimes.com/china-will-sell-anti-sniper-airburst-grenade-launcher_1318958.html or barret xm109. Maybe adding enemy vehicles like humvees to complement that?

Nice, i like Jeeps, it's my all time favorite car, the WWII Willy's Jeep that is. Some say that it was named after the initials GP (General Purpose) and others say that it was named after the character in the Popeye cartoons, Eugene the Jeep, a small thing that can do everything. Both versions fit. It was essentially the first 4x4, able to travel in any terrain and fill different roles, having a radio, making it an agile scout vehicle, carry a .50 cal or some other weapon, transfer wounded soldiers and more.

Try this. I'm not getting the crash any more - but I don't know why because what I did should not have mattered . . . but . . .
There are 3 files in that archive. All 3 go in your ../Data-AV/TableData/Items/ folder and will overwrite the files there (Items.XML, Weapons.XML, Explosives.XML)
Also included in this are some minor modifications:
Added ATTENTION_ITEM to Laptop, Transmitter, Money, Wallet, Passport, Tex videos, Medal, Porno Mag, Beer, Wine, Alcohol, Cigars, Cuban Cigars, Che Canteen, & Cocaine.
Added MEDIUM_SMOKE (HMX, Torpex) and LARGE_SMOKE (Ammonite) effects.
Included SMALL_SMOKE effect for M23 VX Mine and M16A2 Frag Mine
Added <NotBuyable> tag to copies of the Tripwire meant for the Map Editor (try to fix Devin/BR/Bomb Inv bug)
Various Item Description edits.
Removed Used Tripwire Roll item from BR

Cool, thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it a go and report back.
The new (?) image feedback in that box is way cool. Graphics of items held in hands, ammo count, militia tool tip info etc.- adds a whole new layer to immersion.
Edit feedback-
Ok deleted all 5 and game didn't like that. Nor did any of the feedback images work, but it did remove the JA2 image.
Removed one STI -
since I'm playing at 1024x768 w 8 merc squad. I removed the "BOTTOM_BAR 8_1024x768.STI" Worked like a charm and definitely a visual improvement for my tastes !
I presume if you're playing w 10 size squad at 1024x768 you just remove that one. If I knew how to screenshot I would post.
But way frickin cool-
For merc it shows-
- an image of weapon or item in hand (or both hands 2 items)
- name of weapon
- status of weapon (ex.damaged)
- scope or iron sights (optics as well)
- round count left in mag
- fire mode (single/burst)
For militia it shows-
- image of them (headshot), name, status (strength), morale
- main weapon, hat shirt pants
- backup weapon, medkit, ammo canteen equipment
- status (guard), cunning, traits ex hunter deputy scouting
Another question regarding starting defenders (militia in A9 A10 sectors ex)? They are already present in sector when you arrive- and you can give them orders, and they will take freshly dropped enemy weapons. But they don't seem to rely on sector inventory, and are free defenders that do upgrade. Will they perma remain in sector until killed off and do they ever become your militia dependent on sector inventory? In other words they can take your gear but it doesn't seem like you can get the gear back?
Unlike milita you can pay for and train and who will also occupy the same sector (or mobile) but are wholly reliant on you equipping them, but we can get the gear back which they use but don't "steal" like the pre-placed defenders do. My work around for the pre-placed defenders not ripping off my gear is to stash weapons in packs and so far that seems to keep them at bay ;)
