My question is quite simple and kind of a poll to see what peoples views are that are very immersed, knowledgeable and love the game. Two options and both have positives and some negatives. If you had voice overs from people for nationalities would it be preferable and more interesting if they spoke their native language but the text would come across in English? The other option is people speaking English with an accent. Personally, I like the foreign language over accent but I have the option of either so in doing my research I wanted to know the people who would consume and reuse the contents thoughts.

Also, does anyone know a way to export and hopefully import into EDT files? With so many lines of text to do, I would prefer to write them out in Word give them to the actors they would read line by line saving the files. I could then import or paste in mass the text they spoke into the EDT. Worse comes to worst then I will write in word and then manually cut and paste each line but with about 100+ Mercs and 145 lines of text not to include the Battlesnds that is quite a task let alone writing the scripts. Anyway, thank you for your input!

Personally I prefer English, with accents but there are always exceptions, Ivan being a classic case that he speaks pidgin English half the time and sometimes falls back to his native tongue which is a nice compromise and kind of accurate for someone who may not be fluent in another language.

Commie edt editor allows to copy or paste parts or all text of edt file, unfortunatelyx i dont speak any russian and cant say whether that tool works on a dos prompt, which would allow you to ex- & import all text in one batch.

I also prefer ennglish, how broken it may be, spontaneous native language comments like e.g. Gruntys "scheisse" (= "shit")
are ok as someone may not care about translation in a reflex action.
Although these messages may be intended to provide info for the player,
they simulate the communication among the mercs, which works best if all understand each other.

I was thinking of a blend where I tell the actors to feel free to insert the correct foreign word into the sentence. Some may do it some may not. I am sure with so many differnt people needed to cover the mercs that some of the voices will be flat and not as exciting as everyone is not an actor and some are just voice over talent. Hard to know until I start seeing them roll in.

Personally I prefer a game in its native language. Usually it provides the best atmosphere although there have been many English games with good dubbing. In Jagged Alliance I prefer the mix of languages.

I also like the mix of languages - each character is an individual and the differences enhance the immersion.

Well, i speak some languages, besides my native one and sometimes, when something goes wrong or impresses me, for instance, i may use words from the languages that i speak but it's random. Whatever comes out automatically. Pretty sure i am not the only one who does that. In the game, i prefer the english with accents and some native talk thrown in for good measure. Igor is a good example, or Flo. Can't remember any others atm. Haven't use that crazy Cuban, Fidel, does he swear in spanish ?
