And what map are you not starting on the edges? The only reason you wouldn't start on the edge is if you are ambushed or have been helidropped in in some cases, or something is broken.

Strange. It didn't happen when I tried the next time I started the game. I'd been ambushed by cats and then entered a regular zone. Quitting and trying again got the edges working.
But anyway, I won't be playing this mod any more sadly. I'm just too crap at the game. It's just far too hard! I gave it my best shot (pun intended) but it's clearly for a better man hugely unbalanced. ;D
Appreciate all the hard work that's gone into it. I think my whole 1.13 install is a complete mess to be honest, even though I tried to keep it organised and up to date. I mean I can't even play the original game now without a page of red error text and my old base game saves from 8 years ago don't load. Sigh, back to the documentation.

There's a general consensus Vengeance: Reloaded is harder than the average mod, but then make things too easy and it becomes no longer challenging. We have and are working at reducing anything that seems harshly unfair and a reduction in some of the grindiness with towns and loyalty. I'd suggest adjusting your difficulty settings and having another go, preferably with the latest build. Don't forget Vengeance uses it's own SCI and exe, so installation is fairly straight forward, though Windows 10 users may face a few hurdles, but that's no different from running any older game on that system.

I always had the impression that VR is too easy, especially when you have long range rifles with scopes, the game becomes a shooting range.
Also loyalty is not a problem if you don't use militia as cannon fodder.

Is there a way I can enable Gabbi in my game? (I know you disabled this to prevent people from doing unusual things and introducing bugs but I believe I read somewhere you were thinking about adding it back in) I'm getting an infinity timer when an enemy AI is taking their turn and I have no idea who or why it is happening as I can't see who is trying to do something, I'm getting no feedback as far as I can see and I've set the DEAD_LOCK_DELAY to 15 to try and break out of it but it just keeps going.

I am at I3: Doran oil rig, currently beating 10 levels of shit out of some elite thanks to the stun gun and Mouse being a spy, other than that there aren't any other enemies that can see us as far as I can see. Let me know if you need any further information to help diagnose the issue or want me to upload my save file somewhere.

Also, the best way to fix the bug is to post a save just before the bug, with detailed description how to reproduce it.

Thanks for the new exe Seven, i'll give it a go. I have now got round the bug by reloading an older save but it cost me some progress (oh well!), not sure about how to give more detail other than I was sneaking around with the enemy in a non-alerted state as I hadn't been discovered yet and as I was taking my time getting Joey to level up his strength I had him next to this downed elite punching him and just press D to get my next turn and the enemy time bar at the top goes down as normal up to a certain point then froze.

If it happens again after this new .exe I will be sure to upload a save and link here and if I can replicate it in a certain way I will detail it as much as possible, I know doing prior legwork makes bug squishing much easier happy

Hi guys, in Drassen, sandbag fortifications are no longer possible. My tactics heavily depend on them there happy. I've been playing for awhile with an old build since July 2018 where it worked. After the latest one, it doesn't. I found changes in the Tileset #23 the Drassen mine at ../Data-Maps-Tiles/Ja2Set.dat.xml. The additions "<file index="12">cracks2.sti</file>" and "<file index="24">crckshdw.sti</file>" seem to be the reason. However, I kept them and fixed it another way. The indices of the sandbag/s.sti are 89 and 91. I looked for another tileset with the same sandbag/s.sti numbers and simply copy it's sandbag.jsd and paste it in the ../Data-Maps-Tiles/Tilesets/23 folder. After that I am bale to build fortifications in the mine. Hope that workaround will not brake anything else as this is a complete blackbox to me happy

Hey Sidewinder. The Cracks2 and Crckshdw sti's were added as an additional tile overwriting a repeat of the Sandbag.sti, as that tileset had a duplicate of those Sandbag tiles. There is still one SANDBAG and SANDBAGS.sti present in that tileset, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't be showing up, unless you might be using old data, or possibly an old save. You shouldn't have needed to add a Sandbag.sti to the tileset 23 as they are already present.

If anyone else faces this issue with a new install, please contact me.

Hello! Thanks for all the hard work that's gone into V6!

I did a fresh install of JA2 and then popped in the latest SCI. For some reason, I always have problems exiting the game. After pressing Exit, the whole game will just freeze and of course I'm not able to alt-tab out and ultimately end up having to turn off the laptop completely. Previous versions of VR did not have any problems exiting the game.

As well, I used to be able to use my touch screen (yes I know its not recommended or even very functional) for the occasional button howver I've noticed the latest VR also ends up getting laggy and delaying the input of the touch screen by ~10-20 seconds.

EDIT:
Wow so strange. Within hours of posting on here, the game starts magically acting the same way as before. No crash on exit and touchscreen is working. I didn't do anything at all to make this work.

Bug queen should not appear in Vengeance Reloaded, because crepitus quest is disabled in options.

Hey Xafloz, those mechanical drones and other techie combatants are part of the Sci-Fi mod option and were part of the original Vengeance mod. These are representing experimental weapon systems Hale & Burton have lost control of. These aren't heavily tested but were re-instated to add some variety for those choosing the Sci-Fi option.

Very good decsion happy I would gladly destroy more of these. It would be nice to have at least a note with the story of HB loosing control. Just for flavour.

Hi everyone!

Finally made my way to advancing in VR Reloaded a bit. I ended up recruiting Calvin in Oronegro since i knew he was really bad at his job. And then i just dismissed him since he seemed a horrible merc too.

However now Oronegro seems to have the foreman position stuck and I am not getting foreman benefit and can't assign anyone to it.

Any way to fix this other than hacking the ini to ignore foremans?

Not without starting a new game as far as I recall. If you have MINE_NO_FOREMAN_PENALTY turned on you need to assign a foreman to get the benefit from your mine or oil rig. I did find Calvin bad at his job also. If I remember correctly according to Scheinworld only miners/foremans can be assigned for this job.

Thanks for the heads up. I also would incline to agree that you need a miner/foreman for this job, but then again I would expect a different kind of error for this. I will try to fix it with MINE_NO_FOREMAN_PENALTY turned off, or if this requires a new game, I guess I will try again when I have an oil rig foreman, but I'm pretty sure it's bugged. Will reply if I ever find someone happy

If this is the same bug I ran into, the affected characters portrait should be grayed out.
If so, the only way I found to resolve it was to dismiss the merc and hire him again,
and at least not to use the heli until he returned (perhaps even not to move mercs at all),
else the bug would hit somebody else.

Does this issue seem to be specific to Vengeance or do similar issues happen in other versions of JA2? I must admit by chance (and factors/funds in my playthrough) that I haven't even used the helicopter yet which is why I haven't faced this problem and I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned it up til now.

Hard to say as I rarely use heli in any Ja2 mod/version and currently plying only VR. However never before I met the bug. I mean for 20 years of playing JA2 big grin

I have an odd issue, doesn't affect gameplay. My IMP merc's portrait has changed to Skyrider. Cleared three sectors in Omerta, saved, exited the game. Came back to the game, loaded save, and the portrait had changed. It's only 23 minutes in to the campaign on day one, but any earlier quicksaves also show the same.

They should be able to hop over the boom gate like anyone else. This map was from an external map pack but I don't mind them staying inside to defend rather than run out and get picked off.
