It's pretty much all in the tagline. We have a lot of non-driving vehicles, which can be explained by the years of fuel rational, they've simply fallen into disrepair. But each of those vehicles should have some pieces left that can be salvaged.

I think it would be super cool, if we could dismantel these cars (pretty much like we can fortifications), using an appropriate tool item and then use the resulting items in an elaborate merge operation to create our very own vehicle (which could just be one of the models we have already, I'm counting four, the hummer, the jeep, the el dorado and the ice cream truck). To make it a little more challenging, each car that's dismanteled could yield a random component that can only be used for one of the four vehicles.

I'm not sure how limited merges are. The most elaborate vanilla merge is the x-ray device, which is merged using several steps. I would imagine that the car merging should work similarly.

If possible, this should probably be limited to sectors with appropriate facilities (Junkyard, Workshop, Factory, etc.).


What do you guys think?

Merges only working in some sectors would need coding, obviously.
Vehicles are people. We can spawn people from thin air, so that should work in theory. However, the number of people is limited, which would have to be taken into account.
You can easily make the merge-chain as elaborate as you want. I'd advise several 'in-between' items.

I'm not so about being able to assemble a car instantly though. And one would also have to limit the ability to finish the merge only in tactical, otherwise... what is supposed to happen if we finish the merge in our inventory during travel?

Again I personally don't see the need, but I'm weird like that.
