Hello,

In Jagged Alliance 1, how do you rehire a merc you fired?

I know you can fire a merc at the end of the day once you're on the screen with your bed and laptop.

Anyway I did it from that last screen but a few days after my financial situation improved I tried to hire him in vain, do I have to have a low enough turnover rate for him to agree to come back, or is it just impossible to rehire him?

And what is the difference between firing one of our men at the beginning of the day (tactical screen with the map of the island) or at the end of the day (cabin screen/laptop)?

In Deadly Games: the status of an item

I got ripped off by Micky and I end up with items with "poor" status (40% and 42%), a Sniper Scope and an Extended Ear.

My question: since these objects both have a "poor" status, will they affect the performance of my mercs with some kind of penalty, e.g. shooting or detecting/interrupting the turn of enemies ?

If such a penalty exists, at what percentage or status is the object or weapon affected?

Thank you in advance.

Hello thedkm,

it's been a long time since I played Jagged Alliance 1 or Deadly Games.

Did you check the guide files here(?):

Good luck and much fun playing these classics!

Best regards,

Hello thedkm,

I only found this information in Jagged Alliance Strategy Guide:

file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/jaggedal.htm#hiring

Quote:
You are their employer, and like all employer/employee relationships, things are not just cut and dried. Some mercs don't want to work with other mercs, some will quit or demand more money if you fire one of their buddies. Personality conflicts are just as prevalent on Metavira as in the ordinary, everyday outside world. You may also find that firing mercs early in the game can have some very negative bearings on the proceedings. (For example: if you fire "Tex" he will bad-mouth you to all the other mercs.) You may also find that it is often better to "let" a merc be killed rather than firing him or her early in the game. However, if too many mercs get killed early in the game, other mercs may turn down your offer of employment on the grounds that they would have to be crazy to hire on with someone who keeps getting his mercs killed off in short order. Firing Mercs in the early part of the game is a potenitally hazardous experience. Later in the game, it seems to take on a more realistic bent.
Probably this information won't help you in your current game, but maybe in another one in future!
I didn't find anything that rehiring a mercenary is possible. Maybe someone else here knows that and can say?

Best regards,

Schein...
