I'm just wondering how everyone deals with the last few enemies alive in any given sector. I usually find it annoying, especially during city takeovers at night, when there is one or two enemy units hiding some where on the map. I just spread out and search, but sometimes that can take a while. I was wondering if there was a better way...

X-Ray device is decent for hunting down remaining cowards.

How is the X-ray device fabricated again? I know it takes the lame-o-boy, batteries, copper, X-ray tube... what else, and hopw do you assemble it? I've read about it somewhere, But I forget!
Thanks ahead of time...

Chewing gum, x-ray tube, lameboy
+
display, copper wire
=
X-ray detector
(Batteries not included, buy plenty of them as well as some of the other components at Balime)

Trevor's the only one with sufficient mechanical skill and electronics specialization to make it, that I've ever found.

OR you could make lots of noise to get their attention.

Best noise to attract them is grenades. it will not give your position as no "gun flash" is produced.

After a while when you have done that soooo many times, trying to locate the last bugger, I just go to autoresolve and thats that. unfortunately you dont get his gear, but so what. I am also thinking you might want to manually pickup any other gear left on the ground before hitting autoresolve. Sometimes most of it disappears when you do that.

The x-ray device can usually be put together with anyone with electronic skills. Trevor, Lynx, Barry.

I never use it for sweeps: I just split up into two-man mini-squads and move from one end of the map to the other, covering the entire length.

When taking out patrols, I do it that way anyway, so that I can secure ground and not worry about my back.

I remember once that Dimitri was able to put together the Xray machine - albeit 1% durability remained after sooo many attempts. im sure of this as I played local mercs only games - who else is electronic in arulco?

doing a sweep on the last remaining soldier may be fatal. I once did that and to my surprise an elite with a big gun waiting in the bush. in this case, an xray machine is best lest of course you still dont have it - autoresolve is the solution.

Kitty, the stealth and shotgun expert. Did quite well in surpising the opposition in both daytime and nighttime operations.

Whenever I needed to find the last enemy. I ran around like a madman and shot at trees, rocks, buildings, etc. Might seem a bit wasteful, but he already goes though an entire inventory of shells near the beginning of a day.

Back when men were men, and women were women, we didn't need no machines telling us how to hunt!

*But yeah, if you can find a non cheating way to get ahold of one. X-ray devices are lovely. They are supprisingly commonplace in DL. But a lot of high tech equipment is.*

Also, you can leave the sector, and come back later. Lull them into a false sense of safety.

Edit: Off topic but highly intresting. In MGS3, the active sonar works on a similar level. Except that it uses sound and then pings the enemies on the radar.

I'm pretty darned sure that submarines have something like that.

I have no idea how the x-ray detector actually works :'

In my encounters with the enemy, the computer will usually pull the "you can't find me" stunt down around southern sectors like Balime. I speak from personal experience when I say that it is an incredibly frustrating invent when you clear out a sector without casualty or consequence only to have one or two bugs in the bush ruin everything.

It sounds like I am not the only one this has happened to, but this has happened to me more than once in Balime, after clearing everything I start to get pummeled from one of the locked houses that I can't get into. I have found that carrying around explosives in sectors with locked doors and houses for this occasion is good business.

For those other instances where the sector is "house free" I have to agree with everyone else, either auto-resolve it or use the x-ray device to figure out whats going on. It seems as though the one guy/gal that you are trying to track down and eliminate will usually manage to inflict some pain on you before going down......Good thing the rest of the enemys in the sector were not that hard.

LOL, I got my teams sized down more than a few times by some toilet-ambush, what a way to go...

Inteck: "explosives [...] good business"
It sure satisfies my thirst for revenge after reloading and doing a battle all over again.
