Welcome,

Some time ago I play JA2 with 4 created merc's - created with I.M.P, with 90210 code. To do it I use some version of JA2 - dunno which.
When team was ready I saved the game AND copy the save to the SavedGames folder of another version of JA2 (1.5r - Polish). The effect was perfect, everything worked fine, but the problem is berry'd here -> what was the version of JA2, that allow to create multiple mercs via IMP (90210 code), and which save will work with versions like 1.3, 1.5r, 1.6 or 1.7.

O - one other thing - 1.13 won't work, saves cannot be used outside mod.

Can anybody help with this "little trouble"?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, "90210" was available only up to v1.03 - after that, you were SOL.

90210 still works with the IMP Editor I use. In all versions. Before the 1.13 I was modding from the 1.07 version and this code worked then as well.

There is talk that it does not work with NIV but I have found that if you make an IMP in another version, save the file then import it to the newest version of the 1.13 all you have to do is change the name of the file to IMP.dat2 and it works with the 90210 code.

save games are incompatable even sometimes between different versions of the 1.13.

Well, I just checked JA2 Gold - 1.10 and 1.12 (patch) - no results.
I can't remind what I do years ago to have a few IMP mercs in team. As I sad 1.13 mod is rather 'out' of question - saves do not match.

You really don't know how to create more then one profile in IMP ;/ ?

Why not just start a new game?

Ok, no problem - this bring the memory that to have a few IMP profile's you must start a new game, but.. it's not all.

I can start a new game, but multiple 90210 works only in 1.13 (I use 1080) - so, when i gather the IMP team, and save the status - it can't be loaded in 1.5r for instance, there's an error.

I'm looking for option that shall gave me working save file, working with all versions, original versions of JA2, and I'm sure that it is possible! Question is 'how?'.

As far as I know saves do not transfer to most versions of Ja2. Never have.

If you mean saving IMPs that is easy.

Once you create the IMP it makes the imp.dat file. In regular Ja2 this is in the data folder. In some newer versions of the 1.13 the imp.dat file goes by the name (nickname) of your imp. So it would look like Khor.dat if your character's name was Khor.

Do you follow me so far?

All you have to do is copy that .dat file into a folder and store this anywhere you like (I usually make a folder named after the imp I place in it and put this folder in the main install folder of Ja2 (you know, the one with the .exes).

You can easily have multiple IMPs by simply starting a game

creating an IMP

save the game

switch the .dat file to a new IMP (either through the IMP editor or one you already have saved)

load your save game

type 90210 again

Remember not to use the same voice for two IMPs you want to use in the same game. There will be serious glitches if you do. So you have to use a different voice for each IMP meaning you can only have 3 males and 3 females maximum.

I think it works on all those and it works on the 1.13. The IMP editor I hear does not work on the NIV version of the 1.13 but I have found that if you have an IMP imported from anywhere you just have to change the file name (I think the 2085 version uses Imp.dat2 as the valid file name for the IMP.

I know.

It gets maddening with all these changes but you can still make an IMP with the IMP Editor (definately with an older version .exe but I have not tried with the newest version of the 1.13).

But then you have to change the file name to fit the NIV version or possibly even the 2085 1.13.

I hope that isn't too confusing.

The 90210 code is disabled by default in all but 1.03 of the original installs of JA2.

There are patches to re-enable it though I have no idea where they are anymore.

With 1.13 you can load previous IMP's made in 1.13 by typing their name in instead of XEP624. 90210 also works for the last created IMP.

To convert old IMP's you have to edit the filenames to have the .dat2 extension rather than just .dat

Not sure if the weaponry will correlate tho.

90210 does not work with 1.07.

I thought it did but just tested it.

It does work with 1.03 and the 1.13 though.

Thanx Kearar

Well - it IS confusing, no doubt about it.

Let's make a little summary. I'm trying to get the IMP team on Jagged Alliance 2, version 1.5r (Polish). To do it i want to use version 1.3 (create, then save and copy the save file into JA 1.5r directory, then there will be NO mistakes while loading - no muss, no fuss.

Khor1255 write that i should:

1) - start a new game,
2) - create merc or use 90210, and then save the status,
3) - go to the main JA directory, and replace IMP.dat (file which was used to create merc on previous step)
4) - create new IMP.dat with Roadkill's IMP Editor and save it,
5) - run game one more time and load the last save - then on IMP website use 90210.

Well i did that, and it fail.

;(

Perhaps I explained something wrong. I was telling you how to save an individual IMP file and I place these files in a folder called IMPs in my main directory inside of this are folder titled after each IMP I save (because you cannot have two files named exactly the same in the same place.

Nevermind all of that I guess.

) - start a new game,
2) - create IMP (if this is the first time using this install of Ja2 you have to generate the IMP the regular way because this generates the IMP.dat file)
3) - save the game
4) - generate another IMP with the IMP editor (this will automatically overwrite the IMP.dat file so if you want to save your original IMP you must first copy it from the DATA folder and paste it anywhere you like [I save IMPs in a folder in my main directory called IMPs])
Also remember that in the latest version of the 1.13 the IMP.dat is called IMP.dat2 you may have to use the IMP editor with an older version of the 1.13 and rename the file to IMP.dat2
Not sure about that. They keep changing things all the time.
5) - run game one more time and load the last save - then on IMP website use 90210.

6) - if you want to make another IMP save the game again.
7) - generate another IMP with the IMP editor
Cool - load the savegame
9) - go to the IMP website and type 90210

This way you can have up to three mercs of each sex since you need different voices for each IMP.

Simple right?

The problem seems to be that you added the IMP.dat file to the main directory. It works from the Data folder.

I can't get it to work on the 1.03.

I'm almost positive there was a way before the 1.13 but cannot remember it.

Sorry man.

If I do remember I will post here.

If I am remembering correctly the instructions were posted on Lords of the Bytes forums. I am not sure if they are around anymore.

1.13 is the version I have been playing for years now.

It's not a question of how you ask. There is almost certainly someone here who knows how to do it with older versions. The question is, are they reading this and do they want to explain it.

The good thing is that in the older version there is only one name for the IMP.dat file. So you don't have to worry about renaming anything.

But I can't remember what the difference is. Until just now I thought there was no difference other than the file name.

I found this thread while using google to find out how to get multiple IMPs in the same game for the vanilla version (no mods like 1.13). Since there is no answer for how to yet, I wanted to provide one to anyone that might find this thread now or at a later date. I did a lot of research and trial and error and finally found a way using Cheat Engine to get multiple IMPs. I also found out that using the code 90210 works to import previously created IMP in JA2 version 1.03 which is a clean copy of the vanilla game without any patches.

Done with:
Windows 10
Jagged Alliance v1.12 from GOG
Cheat Engine 7.1
Used a second display to swap back and forth between JA2 and Cheat Engine since I can't get JA2 to minimize.

Restrictions:
You can have at most 6 IMPs. 1 for each voice so 3 Males and 3 Females. If you use the same voice for multiple IMPs there will be bugs.

Instructions:
1. Start Jagged Alliance 2
2. Start Cheat Engine
3. In Cheat Engine click on "Select a process to open"
4. Select "xxxxxxxx-Jagged Alliance 2" and hit "Open"
5. Click on "Add Address Manually"
6. Enter Address:"00992CAC", Description:"fIMPCompletedFlag", Type:"Byte" and hit "OK"
NOTE: The newly created entry "Value" is a boolean (true or false) and should be 0 if no IMPs has been created or 1 if an IMP have been created which is blocking you from creating another IMP
7. In JA2 Start a new game or load a save game
8. If you don't yet have an IMP, create or import your first IMP
9. In Cheat Engine fIMPCompletedFlag Value should be "1". Double click on the Value field and change it to "0"
10. In JA2 create or import your next IMP
11. Repeat step 9 and 10 until you have as many IMPs as you want

Use save and load after creation of each IMP or use the JAPE save editor to configure your IMPs to your liking.

https://i.imgur.com/Cc59S1i.jpg

Haven't tried playing with this save extensively so please report any bugs occuring in your playthrough if you happen to use this method. One minor bug I found is that after I created all 6 IMPs at the start I got 6 emails from "Psych Pro Inc" subject "IMP Analysis Results" all containing the same information on the last created IMP.
