I have not played 1.13 in a while but I don't remember having black shirts with auto weapons defending Drassen.

I am not talking about the counter-attack but just the airport.

Since they outrange me, is the only solution to attack at night ?
I don't have any rifle at the moment.

Depending on difficulty level and army composition you can have soldiers converted to elites. Sector B13 (Drassen Airport) uses composition 21 on default 1.13 maps.

<COMPOSITION>
	<Index>21</Index>
	<Priority>30</Priority>
	<ElitePercentage>0</ElitePercentage>
	<TroopPercentage>100</TroopPercentage>
	<AdminPercentage>85</AdminPercentage>
	<DesiredPopulation>12</DesiredPopulation>
	<StartPopulation>10</StartPopulation>
</COMPOSITION>

As you can see the sector should have 0 percent elites BUT there is a parameter <PercentElitesBonus> in "Data-1.13\TableData\DifficultySettings.xml". This gets added to the <ElitePercentage> of the composition.
If you play on Expert, <PercentElitesBonus> is 25, so 25 percent of the garrison will be converted to elites.

You could attack at night or use cover and flanking to attack the elites.

Something I didn't realise with the new way to buy IMP equipment: if you make your character a rifle specialist you will be given the opportunity to buy a rifle.

Also you can buy scopes in some of the slots: I restarted my game and that was alot easier.

I find that it is hard for me to play 1.13 in expert without at least two IMPs.
