I was again re-capturing D2: SAM site. I had 2 merc squads coming from both sides and about 10+ militia units moving in with another squad.

After some save scumming, eh, I mean pondering my offensive options I turned militia around to go back where they came from.

Next battle started them at the middle of the enemies so D2 was quite crowded. Unfortunately militia didn't get the first turn so it was really messy too.

Release version 8796 and gamedir 2531.

Something similar happens if one travels to another city sector by leaving the sector in tactical and a fight between militia and enemy happens in the sector one traverses to in the meantime. It's often used as an exploit to bring mercs to a city battle if they wouldn't normally be able to get there in time. I assume something similar happened here.

The issue is that due to the way handles combat initialization, both militia and enemy are already 'present' in the sector - even if their arrival was handled in the same long function call that led to a battle being started. Thus they all start on normal positions in the sector.

I'm not even sure I want to dabble with that issue. Combat initialization is terribly confusing, whenever you fix one way to initiate a battle thing you break some other kind of it.

I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.

If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.
