In years past when I was a regular on this board, I had zero training or experience in computer science. But after I retired from academia in 2014, I eventually decided to take a couple of years of course work at a local community college and actually worked as an unpaid "apprentice" (more like slave) on one legacy game update project (C++ . . . well ACTUALLY C, but it had been updated to compile as C++ in VS). So, I now have some foundations in the technical sides of modding.
It seems fairly obvious that the degree of "moddability" possible in JA2 will never be possible in JA3 simply because the source code is not likely to ever be made available. But maybe much can still be accomplished?
I am not suitable to lead such a project, but I am happy to follow and I would be delighted to help for as long as it took to bring such a project to fruition; not like full-time or anything, but 10 to 15 hours a week is definitely doable.
What say you Bear's of the Pit?!?
Is it even possible?! Can old Grogs learn new tricks?!
