I think I know how Larry gets "stoned". Whenever he has a medicenal item in his inventory and has too much free time, he will exploit his knowladge in medicine to get stoned with that item. I gave him a medkit since he has such high medicine and after about a day of idleing around he got stoned.
Question is, how do you get him clean? Is it possible to get him off the stuff once he started again or does it wear out after a while?

Its really funny seeing his stats decreasing instead of increasing when he's stoned. :biglaugh:

First, make sure to take his drugs away from him.

Second, keep him away from the bars. Smile

He should recover after a while...

I also noticed that getting him to face the grim reaper will trigger an instant recovery. He even says something about never touching a drink again.

I had him spot a couple of Elites in Chitzena SAM site and THAT cured him... hehe...

He used up an entire medkit, I dont think he'll get his sences back for the next month. :biglaugh:
Whatever stats he lost during his trip to wonderland will probebly reflect when he comes back, I soppose. Should have dumped him in Cambria hospital... or is that like leaving a cat to watch the milk?

I even heard that he will sell his equipment for booze (probably only in sectors with bars). Is that true? Cause i'm too lazy to check it out myself Wink

Larry actually has a lot of potential if he wasn't a wino. I think there might be a way to cheat in a sober Larry by using Proedit since there are actually two versions of him (Stoned Larry and Regular Larry). I was thinking if you could place Stoned Larry on a map as a possible encounter you could then hire Regualar Larry and the computer might not then assign you're Larry to his addicted state.
Mind that I've never playtested this but it might be a cool experiment. Of course if Stoned Larry ever died or met Regular Larry I'm not sure what would happen.

I like Larry alot and always add him to my team as soon as he becomes available. Yes you do have to baby sit him. Just make sure he isnt idle at all for any length of time, just keep him busy fighting or training and you shouldnt have any trouble with him. Be careful to using energy boosts or healing stims on him because he will become stoned immidiately. And if that happens just take all his med kits away from him and keep him training or fighting and he should recover soon. Its a real pain to get him clean again, sometimes I just send him packing back home to M.E.R.C and after a while he is better again.

I'm so sorry I've been absent. I've gotten a brand new set of JA2 for my birthday (my old one died). And now I've been installing installing all the awesome mods made for that game, and rapidly decreasing my hard drive space.

I've learned that in Urban Chaos, Larry can't get stoned off of First Aid Kits, and he won't steal drugs from his fellow teammates ^_^

Its strange, but I found out that if you keep drugs in his ALICE backpack, or put a Crepregen in his Commando Pants, he won't use it! My god, this guy has reserves of self restraint!

He will, however, use medical kits to get high, in fact, whenever I want eed him to get high, thats my item of choice to give him. Razz Keeps him carefree for a good long time...

I pretty much never used ProEdit before. I try to play the game 'the way it was ment to be played'. Aka. Kicking ass from day one, and not spending days sitting on my bum reading gun magazines Wink .

However, for my new UC campaign. I decided that I Needed to have Larry on my team.

*Highly Technical stuff ahead*

I went into Proedit, made it so that Sober Larry and Stoned Larry have the same starting stats, stoned larry had Normal learning evolution instead of reversed. And I edited his need for sleep from 12 to 3 Razz

***

His body has learned how to adapt to the drugs! Just like my Android 18 with her Jet addiction...

(If he is currently stoned and you set him to student, without a teacher of course, He seems to stay in that state until you put him back on squad duty O.O)

Using the student bug trick, I had stoned larry train his mechanical stat from 14 to 40. I put him on squad one until he went back to normal. His mechanical stat reverted back to 14. I got him stoned again, and his mechanical skill jumped up to 66 !!!

(It definitely seems that a dramatic increase or decrease in one of Larry's personalities statistics will have a profound effect on the other larry's abilities)

Thus, to abuse this property as much as possible. I'm going to take Larry, make him stoned, train him as high as I can in a low stat (the lower the stat, the faster the learning). Revert him to his normal self, and then make him stoned again, and see what happens.

I do not know if values over 100 are possible... But I will find out for myself. It would be a real shame to try to get him really high health, only to have him die X.x

****

Enough with the Drug Experimenttation Tests. I want to know about his history...

I remember his father Col. Leon Roachburn died. At least, I read it from the AIM section. I wonder, did Larry have any brothers or sisters? Did they die too, or met with unfortunate accidents? Is this what caused Larry to turn to drugs? The more I read about his history, the more I feel sorry for the poor guy, and thus, why I want him to aspire to greatness...

Well, here is an interview with Larry. Actually, he has a brother and a sister. They should be in the AIM-gallery as well. If I remember correctly it's Gary and Sparky, but I'm not sure.

Thank you very much! Both for the link, and the info about Larry's sibilings.

Yep! I found the information about Gary and Sparky in the AIM Illumni section (I really like that webpage, its soo filled with.. history).

I can rest well, knowing that his bro and sis are still alive, and settled in less exciting, if not less dangerous, lines of work.

To make the information complete I can tell you that in JA1 both Sparky and Gary worked with Larry, but neither did Sparky work with Gary nor Gary with Sparky. I could never use all of them in one team which is a bit, ah, tragic.

I've gotten him up to 110 ^^

Trained him up to 80 Mks, then had him switch back.

Took a long long long long long long long time.

Day 162 22:29 A9 Atremo.

Even at a mere 100 dollars a day, he can break your bank Razz

Though I rarely ever do that (I like to set speed records). I find that a lot less tideous than active training (Only things I punch are bad guys, and tanks, but that just happened once).

I don't know how someone would be able to get super high stats with Larry's attributes unchanged (Ie, he unlearns stuff in his drunk state)
