The last one is just a mount isn't it? I am not up to date on all the new gadgetry that is out.

What I'll do is make them all up and then you can decide how you want to implement them. There all pretty good pics and shouldn't take to long to do.

Thank-you, Marlboro. Don't forget to show off previews on the items thread, someone else may be interested in a new LAM (or four) too.

That last one is both a LAM and could be used to raise up another device off the main rail by a few centimetres. The brochure appears to have it sandwiched in between a C79 scope (Elcan) and a Diemaco C7 LMG variant.

Oh good, I found the old thread. Just a few announcements with regards to the UC-1.13 Hybrid:

1) The new beta is nearly ready.
2) As a way to get around some (hopefully temporary) .exe limitations:
a) I've pasted the subway directory into the SIR OS background image. Until we find an easier way to muck around with the in-game websites this will have to do.
b) I've reactivated some of the deSantos Quints to act as Smitty's clerks: i) We have the functionality of Smitty in Port Kip replaced, ii) Rudesea's BR outlet is now staffed and open for business, iii) I'm going to stick a rogue arms dealer in Galileo (selling really hi-tech stuff). In addition, Manny will be pumping gas somewhere in Danubia.

These are in my opinion "brute force" work-arounds, and still require some clean-up if they are to stay in place. For instance I haven't cleaned out the deSanto's speech and text, so while being gun shop clerks, they're talk like bartenders (see point 5). Oh by the way, Judge, you don't have these changes in that version I sent you earlier in the week, sorry about wrecking any progress with the need to start a new game.

3) Lesh's map stuff has been impemented: the next release will have cities as implied by the Urban Chaos Map (no just a picture overlaid on the Alruco map). Also, all city sectors should be garrisoned. Oh does anyone remember the name of that island south of Rudesea?

4) Thanks to Marlboro Man, Tbird94lx, and DBB (can someone get me a specific set of names to credit for the Russian NV scope, PKS-07, and Minutia Sniper Scopes?) I've got some additional "toys in game." Marlboro Man and Tbird, I've already reduced the "glare" off the P99, and I've done some further modifications to its interface image. My eyes hurt after all the pixel by pixel stuff, and...

5) For the month of February, I'm going to be busy with professional opportunities, so when I release end of this week, I may not be too responsive to my beta testers. Sorry folks, but on the plus side, as long as I didn't commit any major screw ups you have almost a whole month where the mod won't change.
a) In what is probably the last time this month I'll be using MS Office for a hobby, I'll try to type out tonight something legible as far as testing regime and things that need to be checked. Two points come to mind right now: i) do the deSanto's, Devin, and Manny(former Gabby) show up? ii) Are you having fun with the mod?
b) We need some help in areas of hunting down voice and text files associated with the deSanto's brothers. Also, need someone who can convert the old Urban Chaos loadscreens to the new screen resolutions (or create new ones, perhaps incorporating important info like the subway links)

One final thing, this mod is up to date with the SVN release up to yesterday. Therefore the .exe is new, and the last new gun added to the graphics was the Mauser rifle.

This is rather strange, this thread exists under "JA2 V1.13 Mod XML Customization," but I can't seem to find it when I manually search through all the pages. It doesn't even appear at the top of page 1, when I'm the last one to post.

EDIT: A few quick bug reports ...

1. The Coca-Cola can weighs a whopping 11.0 and uses a LARGE slot. (If they only sell by the case in that country, I need to buy some Coca-Cola company stock!)

2. The pics for Elhi and Rude Dog (and probably all other characters unique to UC) have horizontal flickering bands when it's time for their eyes to blink. Caused by the blink spots not matching the eye locations.

Sorry, yeah this is why testing is so very important...

1) Those are probably the size and mass values for whatever used to occupy that item number in JA2. I'll have a fix emailed out right before I begin my February exile.

2) Yeah, I forgot to mention that one, we need to fix the eye coordinates one of these days... Elhi was an incomplete character that was cut from the original Urban Chaos release, her sound files are a bit messy too. At least sound files in Battlesnds: 060_enemy2.wav, 060_hit1.wav and 060_hit2.wav need to be replaced.

Oh and is anyone having problems with Map B9? I received a report of load problems from Tbird.

Please pass on to me any further issues found, and I'll see what I can do by Sunday night.

Yeah, you're right that the Elhi sound files are "messy". They're even worse than the Brenda ones. Still, disregarding the quality of her speech, I like having Elhi in the game. And having Rude Dog on my team brings back fond memories of when I last played UC (nearly 3 years ago).

If Marlboro is testing UC-1.13, you might want to impose on him to fix the eyes of the various UC NPCs. He did a fine job with Ron's portraits, so I know he's a good man for such things.

I had no problems with loading/playing on B9, so I'm not any help to Tbird.

Another minor bug report: on the strategic map, sector B13 in Calisto is labeled as "Drassen Airport".

i followed the instructions to the "T" the readme included with the zip...i installed a clean ja2 and upgraded it to current 1.13 and did the replace delete etc..yet..all the npc's are "unname" or show up as the rebels with new names and bodies..but old faces and speech..somewhere i musta eff'd up bad..

I did NOT follow the instructions to the letter. Instead of a clean JA2 install followed by a fresh 1.13 install, I just duplicated my existing 1.13 install into a new duplicate directory, and then installed UC (I didn't previously have UC installed on this system) pointing to the duplicate tree. From that point forward I then followed Wil's instructions. I just didn't see a need to go through the hassle of doing yet another JA2/1.13 install from scratch, considering that JA2 (AFAIK) doesn't write to the Windows registry during installation, so there's nothing preventing one from just duping the directories.

We still need to determine the best install configuration before we expose this thing to the general public. Tbird, if you have the space to spare, try ShadoWarrior's suggestion. My own install is actually a little different from the instructions too. Currently my own game is run from:

1) I dumped the Bigitems folder from Data-1.13 into the main Data folder (got the idea from discussions here http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/126813/page/1#Post126813 ) Might do the same with the weapons sound folder in future. As you can tell I'm not going back to "vanilla" with this install.

2) Used the alternative Urban Chaos install technique to extract only the Urban Chaos files into its own folder (desktop). This one requires a lot of clicking, but I don't need a full proper install of UC.

3) Renamed the extracted Urban Chaos Data folder to Data-UC

4) Deleted from above Data-UC the Bigitems folder

5) Overwrote the contents of Data-UC with the files found in the zip file I sent out (this I did again last night to see if there was anything wrong with the distribution)

6) Moved Data-UC into the JA2 1.13 directory

7) Edited the .ini to point at the Data-UC folder

I hope I didn't miss anything, sorry haven't been keeping notes.

Another alternative to the Elhi graphics would be get permission to use an existing graphic set. Was it Marlbroro Man or Bulletsix who did up that Brunette IMP replacement graphic recently? Does anyone know who the original Elhi graphic is based on (perhaps she already has a JA2 graphic set done up)? Turn off blinking via the prof file?

When scrolling backwards and forwards through the guns (specifically the guns) on Bobby Ray's, JA2 will crash back to the desktop without warning. Caveat: I haven't played the regular 1.13 mod in several months, so I don't know if it's something specific to UC, or due to recent changes in the underlying 1.13 code.

EDIT: it happens on either the regular guns or used guns pages whenever I attempt to scroll past the Beretta 93R handgun (or the 93FS, if there's no 93R). Some item after this in the guns list is causing the program to barf.

I'm playing with Tons of Guns, and BR's set to just below "awesome" (excellent?).

Send me the savegame (strange two years ago I never thought I'd be saying that). How new is you're SVN? Last time we had BR issues, it was due to missing Bigitems images. The likely suspects are the Colt M16(in .223) and ColtCanada C7CT, however both graphics were added last year.

To all beta testers: I have one more evening of freedom, pass on any more reports that you can, and I'll see what I can fix.

Sounds like there is an image missing from the BigItems folder.

If you can make out which guns should have been displayed before the crash, you can look up in items.xml which numbers their graphics should have (like Thompson M1A1 is 11). If one of those numbers is missing, copy something else to that number, if you can live with a wrong pic until the error is corrected.
If you update via SVN, then the problem should be with UC (had nearly the same problem wih the betatest of another mod). If you downloaded the earliest version of the 687-release, then the missing pics could be caused by that. RoWa fixed the release after a short time, though.
Missing images from the early release are:
- Commando
- 12g Shells 7
- 9x19mm Mag 15
- 12g Shells 7 BS
and possibly others

My SVN is updated as of the date you sent out the beta. I update my SVN daily, but I haven't been copying any newer SVN updates from my main 1.13 folders into the UC folders so that the UC test stays "clean" as of the date you distributed it.

- CMMG 7.3 (Gun274)

all use the Bigimages from the SVN/January release

Page after that one contains a UC specific CAR-15 (which incidentally I noticed your team already has acquired at least one). Still try right clicking on the CAR-15 and see if that CTD's. Other suggestion is to buy a 93R and on delivery, use the Alt-W cheat to cycle the item number an see where it crashes. With the exception of guns originally in UC, I've more or less placed all 1.13 and original JA2 firearms in alphabetical order.

Right-clicking on the CAR-15 brings up the usual window with info, ammo, and access to the weapon's attachment slots. Ditto when I try it with any of the Bizon PP-27s in my possession, and the Colt M4. It's got to be some gun that my team doesn't yet have.

I take it that you've not been able to reproduce the bug using my save? If you haven't, then can I trouble you to pack up your UC-1.13 BigItems folder and email it to me so that I can compare yours to what I have?

Sure, except for one minor little problem, my Data-UC folder's Bigitems only contains the files I emailed out. I moved the 1.13 mod Bigitems folder into the "vanilla" Data folder, that way the the game's default folder contains all the 1.13 images. I was getting tired of having to scroll through hundreds of files to locate the UC graphics, and the thread on swapping the default from "vanilla" the the "1.13" mods gave me ideas... It should be there by now.

Thankfully this is my day off, any easy xml variable bugs beyond the cola and the shovel that I can fix quickly, anyone?

So it was the CMMG 7.3 pic that was causing your crash (274).
That's a rather old (several months) addition. Strange that you're missing that (and the other two).

Yes, the culprit was #274, and yes, it's rather odd since I've been very diligently updating via SVN for the past several months. At least fixing my problem was easy. I wonder if Tbird ever got his problem fixed?

after some stupidity on my part..we wont go into details as its a personal bug that cant be fixed...heh..i got it all installed correctly..made two imps and hired 4 aim mercs...made sure i have a rooftop,mech,medical,stealth,heavy and auto weapons, and a jack of all trades..i didnt tinker with the ini or anything..am playing it virgin..

landed and managed to make it to the office..exchane the crate ticket and get my main imp outfitted with the pistol right before militia spotted and started attacking the enemy..i managed to get a kill in with the main imp with the pistol..a reflex sight that my second imp recieved on creation sped up its firing rate alot....the militia took care of the rest..lost two militia..saved game..hired rosebud..talked to carmen..got laptop and machete...as i am want to do after a battle..i scan the ground around the dead bodies because one always refuses to show up in sector inventory unless you go up to it and the dropped items are realized...as my merc's are going to their assigned spots..game just does a random quick clean ctd..no messages..no stutter or lag...poof..clean to desktop...reloaded savegame..ctd did not replicate...

one issue..laptop..i have site overlap...mallaeus text imposed over the bullet train page..

thats my first sector report...took mercs to every corner of map..covered every inch..opened every cabinet crate and desk...no issues....
will give report again after second sector

on a personal note..UC is beautiful in 800x600...i put off playing the original UC because i was spoiled by 1.13's look..now my eyes want to play UC again

I'm currently trying to hunt down bugs exposed by placing militia in the extended town sectors, for instance the Gunrunner sector in Calisto (B14). Whenever the map is loaded (and at least once per day) the hostile civilians respawn and wipe the floor with the militia - or cause all sorts of strange problems. Does anyone who's poked through the code know where I might find the 'black magic' that stops the crooked police reloading in B13 (civilian group hicks)?

I also reinstated my full-map militia movement control - are there any near future plans to add this to the main 1.13 exe?

Another bug, this has happened once for me, and it has at least happened to one beta tester: On starting a new game, all troops seem to be armed only with sawed-off shotguns. It does not matter how far you progress, or number of reloads the game is stuck issuing only shotguns. I'm not sure if it is a UC Hybrid specific bug, or if it is common to 1.13.

Oh and to all beta testers, please don't forget to include "UC-1.13" in the subject line (in addition to any other descriptions).

took first four sectors without crashes..tons of money to pick up outta desks etc..left the landing town with about 45k in pocket...trained up militia...reapired...rested..went to calista..took top two sectors..some wounds..trained militia...talked to all npc's..placed order...bought buncha used guns and add-ons..i shoulda read what they accept..only add-on that fits are rod and spring and silencer on the m4..ugh..wasted all that cash...buncha lam's scopes etc that dont work on anything Sad..all this was accomplished crash and error free...except rudedog and elhi's faces are an eff'd up mess when they talk or blink..playing at 800x600..otherwise..all quiet on the front..will report again after i finish taking calisto

So, you're gonna love this. I've found a solution to the gunrunner sectors in zone where you can have mililita. All you have to do is add one cow!

Interestingly enough it seems that as long as one civilian survives the map remembers all the other civilians you've killed. But kill all civilians and they respawn on next load. So the solution is just to have one non-hostile civilian survive. And what better civilian than old bessy!

If beta testers report any other sectors that have this hostile civilian respawn problem, I'll add cows or other civvies to them.

@Judge: I haven't seen a hostile civilian yet, and I've captured all sectors of Atremo and Calisto. What sector's supposed to have the hostile civvies?

@Tbird: 45k?!! What'd you do, start with $60k and a team of all IMPs?

Pretty much any town sector after dark. In Atremo you've got the police in A10 and bikers in B10. Calisto has police in just about every sector and gunrunners in B14 (those pleasant ladies and gentlemen with white-shirts and high-powered assault rifles - I'm surprised you missed them, given they rarely miss!).

They all use the 'hick' civilian subgroup, so turn hostile if you show up after dark, or shoot one of them

no..didnt start with a full team..just a couple imps..and recruited rosebud the chick and rude dog..so had 20+k already.plus i found money inna lotta desks and cabinets etc...and the stuff i found useless and sold to locals at 10%..left for calisto with about 45K in my pockets

In the exact opposite to Judge's solution, during a break from real-life, had to delete all civilians from the map I3 to avoid the CTD on switching to tactical. When I have time, I'll try and determine specifically which civ is causing the CTD.

Also found a bug with Strategic Map movement and the D1 Gun Runners cache. (This map also needs a cow or two.)

Judge, Map F3 should also be on the list of those that have the hostile civ respawn issue (General Marco's personal guards).

Hi, a hidden tester until now here ...

I was the one w/ those sawed-off shotguns only.
So decided to make a complete clean install. 1st sector i recived some pistols, but only because ive stolen them from the soldiers. They did not drop weapons, only some uniforms w/ drop all set on.
2nd sector (militia station) all those sawed-off shotguns, some with interesting munition (5,45 mm), agan got this while steeling it from the soldier. Elhi has the Bizon as it possible should be.
3rd sector (Rude Dog, he has the commando) all soldiers sawed-off shotguns, so decided to shot this gang, and got with drop all noting when the tool-tip shows a pistol.

Also the steel menu shows no items, no frame, only the buttons for okay, select all and cancel. It to a while until i found them, before i was thinking the game hangs.

All thos errors are looking like some data file is not in the right position. I proceded exactly following the readme, using a up-to-dat Ver 1.13 installation (a working one) and my working installation of UC. The UC-Hybrid installation i made in a new directory copied from the 1.13 installation.

Any hints?
