Or, perhaps you can call it the boatride of death... If I had any more creative titles, I've lost them.

D5 (water temple), F4, and sector H2 (AMBUSH!!!)

***

I've been playing on Experienced mode, and I've breezed though all the other sectors, and by that I mean, barely survived.

The amount of near death experiences and close calls my characters had is inconceiveable! The VC and NVA defend their homeland with a tenacity I've never seen before.

***

Anyhow, I'd really like to see how the story ends, but I can't get past this part. My (cowardly) strategy of sniping one or two soldiers and then running away won't work here.

Now matter how cautiously I try to fight the enemies in the water temple, I wind up with one or two of my primary squad dying.

I've contemplated sending all of AIM at that sector, but I am against sending people to their deaths.

How can I out-ninja these enemies? UV goggles weren't around (or can't be found) and I didn't bother to make a character with night ops.

My modified Pythons do.. hmm... 5 points of damage per shot now.

The french silenced carbine does quite well, but there is only one of those.

I could even try camoflage and smoke grenades! THough that will probably make it harder for my characters to see too.

I've heard that some of you have won SOG'69 upwards of three times. Could you take pity on this poor soul? Any tips on fighting or running away from this impossible situation would be greatly appreciated.

Well mate, I'm currently doing very well in the Water Temple with night operations. I do have one guy who has night ops, but the work is being done by everybody. Get some good silenced weapons (like the De Lisle, the Swedish-K, and a few Sterlings), and walk around with the whole team. Use your highest level mercs as pointmen.

I seem to remember using silenced weapons - particularly the Swedish-K - backed up with scoped Garand M1s. Advance with two guys with silenced weps, closely followed up with marksmen with the garands - Lynx is particularly good as he comes with a garand as standard

I dunno, I went through with Spooky and my IMP at night. The IMP had nightops and the Swedish, Spooky had a Sterling, both silenced. They cleared the three areas very easily, although I admit it took longer than an all-out assault. They almost didn't get hit at all though, which was cool. Putting the two next to each other is excellent, just adjacent, so that they get nice interrupts and can cover each other. Use burst fire to take out enemies, so that you're left with enough APs to counter anyone who may appear. So bring lots of 9mm ammo.

Consider getting a night-ops specialist for these sectors, but in my opinion this can be done just the same with regular mercs, camouflaged and packing silent guns. Just keep them all bunched up together, and they'll be able to interrupt easily.

Also in the Ambush sector, enter again in the night, and run your mercs quickly to the left of your starting position and park them behind rocks on that lefthand island. Use your regular weapons (non-silenced) to fire at the enemies, thus drawing the rest of them towards you. Move carefully, and if shot at, retreat the endangered merc to a different cover.

Thank you!

I won SOG'69 last week, and then Dedrianna Lives immediately after. They're both excellent mods that I will more than likely play though again.

There are some people who use Night-ops often. Perhaps some that only move under the cover of darkness. Then... there are people like me, who like to think of it as a last resort Mad

I'm a huge day ops fan.. The light of the sun revitalizes me! Also, it kinda makes it a lot easier to see the trees and\or the people I'm supposed to be shooting.

I went in at night and cleaned out the sectors, but boy, it took me a lot of tries.

Igor and Doctor Q did most of the work with their RPKs. They were both level 9 by this time, with over 85 strength and incredibly high marksmanship.

When I entered the ambush sector at night, I immediately had my characters rush towards land... It was the bottom left of the sector.. After that, it became suprisingly easy!

The enemies had to swim though deep water.. I had my imp Kitty shoot them with his Winchester model 12 shotgun.. And they just sorta fell over and drowned Mad

And thats how I won that sector! For whatever reason... Being really loud during nightops works equally well Razz

Thanks for all the advice. I was beginning to worry that nobody would post a reply to this thread.

I'll remember this advice when I attack this campaign again... With Biff and Flo!

Alas, its a shame that Bull, and Razor, and Meltdown, and Haywire.... And a lot of other people hate and would like to kill them ; ;
