I was wondering if this project has a home page (or wiki?). I'd like to take a look at the screenshots of the all the maps. Thanks.

Well, I've actually been working on some sectors (I can't seem to get them to load in certain mods though).

I really actually want to run a campaign setting in something along the lines of a snowy landscape in the northern parts. Always playing in a forest or swamp as the main landscape outside of urban areas is ... a bit boring to me now. Green, Tan, Brown could do with some white, no?

try to locate a copy of snap's tileset add-on. It adds UB tilesets to 1.13, you can use them in the 1.13 editor normally. Or have a look at other mods. RR, FFF-MP, vengeance all have their snow tiles and snow maps.

Would be nice to see a gallery of all the sector maps with some notes describing each of them. Something to look at and drool over at least!

There is an HTML version in Russian with the file name armap401base.zip you can find it here.

You can probably search on Google and find more stuff. There used to be a good english map on the old JAG Web site. You can probably find additional stuff by searching for "Arulco Map" (since arulco won't be use by other things).

That only contains a map of Arulco, not the new sector maps in the database.

Some redesigned maps of the vanilla game, together with new tilesets, new ja2set.dat and radarmaps.

they have no items and the standard npcs so should be easy to be used with whatever configuration.
tell me what you're thinking.

btw, how can i let the images show instead of a link?

never mind, i figured it out.

They look pretty gewd, although I would expect some type of port or somesuch in Chitzena.

I thought of john and mary sitting in chitzena so no port.
chitzena now has a denser jungle surrounding, it looks really impassable, but there are no dead ends.
enemies attacking from the east storm all the way through the jungle, fun to watch the militia beeing ambushed when they aproach the border of the dense vegetation.
the new omerta has more narrow spaces and the houses are nearer together.
I was thinking of mercs and crappy equipment, mainly pistols, and so decided to give them a better chance to outmanuever the enemies.
drassen mine has now a bigger mining complex and a nicer church with a public open space.

c13 is in the making, i'm also working on alma right now. the trees hiding the fences in the military sectors were always annoying me since i first played the game when it was new.
why should they hide their facilities? i would rather guess that the arulcan army would show off their power and also they would remove those trees to have a better view.
when they're done i'll upload 'em.

edit: i found an issue when editing the maps in the mapeditor. as i had activated 64 enemies per map in the ini, i also placed 64 enemies in the map.
when you start the editor with a lower amount of enemies in the ini, when you click rmb on an enemy the editor crashes.
however playing the map in the game works fine.
if you want to edit the maps you have to set max_number_enemies to 64. then delete the placed enemies till you reach the number you want.

Nice find. PM it to RoWa21 and he may be able to sort out the issue.

Also I have a slight request. The maps surrounding Chitzena, Grumm and the Chit SAM are pretty bad compared to a lot of the other wilderness maps (bar that stupid canyon near Cambria). Just wondering if you would mind having a look at them, seeing as you obviously have a talent for mapping, when you are done with Alma and C13 Wink

i enlarged the land in this map and changed the position of one of the two houses.
the first one was not moved due to the grid-no. of the controldesk which is important for the enemies to know where it is.

now fighting isn't always at the mapborder.

uses vanilla tilesets and ja2set.dat.

I created a wiki page to document this project. Hope you find it useful.

http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/Map-Database-Project

[edit]
You might want to update the first post with this link.

Also, I'm not sure whether it's possible (or even a good idea for that matter) to upload the maps directly to the wiki. It would provide a centralized location however.

Links to shed23, Sgt York and John Wright's maps seem to be dead, as are all the badongo.com links.

Also, all of Kaerar's maps I've tried have crashed the Map Editor.

It would be cool to have a SINGLE download with ALL the maps set up as "alternates", so that each replay has a chance of loading a sector randomly.

Here's some composite sector maps for OLDNOOB's insane maps, Vanilla JA2 and WildFire. (Click for larger versions.)

Just realized that photobucket automatically shrank the images to a 1024xNNN pixels. The originals are much larger.

Is anyone interested in mapping Metavira these days?
No, I'm not working on it. Back in the days of the dropped "finishing touches" had a custom tileset made for this...most important thing being a water sti for that jewellery work on shores.
Stumbled upon that work and played a bit with a landing zone map (60)this is how it looked like:
http://img.xrmb2.net/600416.jpg
http://img.xrmb2.net/754901.jpg
Didn't pay much attention to details or distances between buildings, drawn from memory...just wanted to see it's doable.
Who's interested in making those 60 maps, now that 1.13 seems to have all externalisations necessary for the game world to function? Dunno about you, but many modmakers have dreamed about this...

You can try the Wildfire 6 maps MOD. It is default 1.13 with Wildfire 6 maps.
You can download the mod from SVN:

1. Install TortoiseSVN
2. Make a folder somewhere
3. Right click folder and select "SVN Checkout"
4. Paste link in "URL of Repository" textbox
