I have sold a few things to Tony when I first met him. A few days later I sent two of my men to him, to sell him lots of .38 revolvers and such. But Hand refuses to let me in, saying that Tony stepped out for a bit and I'd have to wait. He kept saying that for about 4-5 days now.

I haven't met Kingpin yet or started a fight with anyone. All I did to probably piss off someone was kicking in a door in the sector where Tony lives and searched the house (it's where a few guns are kept in a locked room in the back). Does Tony ever come back or have I lost access permanently?

He's always come back in my games. It can take a few days. Try different times of day and see if that helps.

I havent verified this for sure but it seems to help if you do not hang around in Tony's sector. Leave for a few days, then check back.

yeah... I too have noticed that hanging around his sector seems to prevent him from coming back. However, it may just be a lack of progress on my part. Whenever he "steps out" he doesn't return until you make some in-game progress

I'm not sure if it is tied to game progress but it is definitely something to do with his sector. One game I hung around a whole month just to see what happened and every morning at 11:00 I got the "Tony stepped out..." speech.

By the way, Tony seems to refresh his inventory every day at 11:00. And every time the game progress reaches another factor of 10 (10, 20, 30, ...) he gets access to the next better niftiness level of equipment.

There is a way to always have tony around - just leave a merc in his room looking in his direction and voila. I always leave Ira or Hamous there, just practising and waiting to do a little trade. I'm also pretty sure that leaving somebody in hans' place works just as good.

edit: just checked, sadly it doesn't work, so nevermind :/

leaving someone in tony's room doesn't work. You get kicked out and put the in middle of the street.

Strange, but it does work for me, never got kicked out and left my mercs practicing in his room numerous times. If you want i can mail you a savegame to confirm that.

sometimes he doesn't "step out" for many weeks at a time but when he does you get kicked out and put at the spot in the middle of the map where the copter also drops you off at

Yup. He leaves and anyone in his room is removed. He's really not there, either. If you blow up the wall from the alley he's not inside. There's actually one spot you can do it that will make an opening but not make everyone hostile. Then you don't have to deal with the guy outside any more.

It's in the alley to the left of the building, one spot away from the wall. Use dynamite. You'll have to experiment a bit to find it. If you damage anything inside the building the whole sector goes hostile.

if you load tony's sector as the last before 0000 hours AND he is there, he will be there the next day - with his sector loaded at 0000 hours the game CANNOT change his status - if you want to change his status (randomly) you need to load any other sector at that time

... thx to khor for pointing that out millenia ago

True - but whether you deal with Hans or not has no effect on Tony being there, he's either there or he's not.

In one of my previous games (not the latest release of v1.13, so not sure if this still happens) I blew the hole and then came to realise it didn't mean Tony would be there. So the next time I visited the sector I talked to Hans anyway, got the "Tony stepped out for a bit..." speech and then saw Tony running full tilt out of the hole, down the alley and off the map. After this, every occasion that I got the "Tony stepped out for a bit" speech, I'd see him running out of the hole and away. Try it out!

maybe Tony hates you for something, thats why he tells Hans that he "Stepped Out for a bit"

Try to block a Hole and a back exit door and see if Tony will stop near you so you could talk with him

I find Tony's absences to be annoying. But I suppose I can find a humorous side to it . . .
