To get a better understanding of the mods available, you can always check out the list here...

http://thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&th=14663&prevloaded=1&&start=0

The short outlines featured tell you what language the mod is in, or if it has been translated. Going by other posts on here I'd guess translation was only partially completed on this one.

I wish the npc text was in English because I have no idea what is going on.

Also, with the integration of 1.13 the Ambushes are too strong with sometimes 128 enemies right off the bat even on the novice difficulty setting.

yeah. Have the picture. I hve the suitcase. I have a torn up note.

...but, there is a town with like 5 NPCs. It would be cool to know what they are saying.

I was fighting sentinels and got massacred.

Think it depends on which faction you choose , there is a town with 2 gangs , you get to pick who you side with , has consequences through the game .

Well, Dieter and Inshy are pretty good with translations, don't know if they do Polish though, maybe someone can drum up some interest for a full translation?

I'd like to get a look at how much work translation will require. I don't speak polish, but I can use babblefish, and then make the result sound natural. Two questions.

1) Where do I find the edt files that control NPC speech?
2) I did a web search for edt editors, but found alot of trash. Are edt files just XML of some sort? Could I just edit them in Visual studio? If not, can someone recommend a edt editor in english for me?

Perhaps I spoke too soon. I am having trouble running Legion 2 on my Windows 7 computer.

When I try to run the english executable I get an error.

Here is the error:
http://thumbnails54.imagebam.com/14874/d6bfe2148734372.jpg

When I try to run any other executable, I get a splash screen (saying Sir Tech-Canada), and then JA exits.

Is Legion 2 compatable with 1.13 build 4552 ?

I got the install file from this link:
http://www.legion.zone.zg.pl/doku.php/moje_modyfikacje/legion2_v113

Is there a new version?

try legion with an older build , should be the right one at the legion site . You might still get error messages , but it will be playable !

I got it to work about 3 or 4 months back, but I don't remember what it is that I had to do.

Jazz has his own installer specifically for Legion 2. You might want to check his site out.

I got it working yesterday. Used SVN to export version 1208 from the v1.13 data repository.

I manually copied the Data-Legion2\VFS\vfs_config.Legion2_EN.ini to the base location and then fixed the ja2.ini file. Pretty sure the Starter.exe tool would do this but I just did it manually.

@tag, I'm thinking you did not setup the ja2.ini file or copy the vfs config file from the error. Again I suspect starter.exe will do that but I dont want to touch it now that I have things working.

All in all not to much work other than SVN export which failed halfway through. May have been easier to check out which would allow it to resume instead of start from scratch.

I also compiled my own copy of the exe from the repository so I could add my own changes as needed but the base one seemed to work ok.

A translation would be very helpful. This is a very fun modification and very in depth.

One thing I did turn off was sector reinforcements because it was kind of annoying fighting 20+ every single sector.

I think so, though I haven't played it myself it's had a lot of interest in the past, and it may be just the fact it hasn't got more due to not being in English.

Was Legion 2 written on a much older version of 1.13? Perhaps this is why it has a number of bugs, but someone may be interested in fixing some of these if the projected garnered more interest.

Drop me a mail if you require any English language issues or phrases that don't quite make sense when translated.

'Fraid not Inshy, but sometimes things can get lost in translation, for example I may able to fine tune any speech lines or emails once you've done the initial translation, if required, a bit like how I did one some of Shady Job.

Long time ago now, but I think we fine tuned some of the opening emails, and other edt's. I did send messages trying to clarify maps locations and town names too, as there seemed some confusing differences at the time.
