Importing characters and saveing doesnt work[message #145097]

1. When i convert my JA2 save game for JA2UB it says "Error Importing", it wont let me import.
2. When i save in JA2UB says Error Saving, i cant save any game.

FYI i have the Steam version of JA2 Gold and JA2UB please help ive seen there must be some bugs and alot of problems with the steam version.

It seems that the Steam version is really messed up, and from what I've been reading, they don't seem to be planning to fix it anytime soon.

You can get the Jagged Alliance 2 Gold Pack through amazon.com for about $15 (unused package with CDs). Apparently, that's less than Steam charges for their crummy download. If I were in your position, I would just buy it from Amazon and avoid Steam in the future.

You can get the Jagged Alliance 2 Gold Pack through amazon.com for about $15 (unused package with CDs).

Actually, you can get JA2gold, JA2:UB, and 4 other games for about that price. There is a "strategy package" whose exact contents vary a bit but it usually contains JA2gold and either JA2:UB or JA2:WF.

The code wasn't (and even in 1.13 isn't) very good about diagnosing load/save problems so it could just about be anything. Something to try would be to delete any files in the save directory and try it again.

ok i deleted the Ja2.dts file that was the only file in the Saved Games folder.Then i tryed to start a new game and save and it says the same thing.and the save converter still doesnt work

That version you downloaded from steam is missing to many files. That's the problem with those kinds of deals, there scams if you ask me. If I was you I would bite the bullett and buy a real copy of JA2 from Amazon or some place. I bought myself the "Conquest Pack" which comes with 6 games. Includes JA2 Gold/JA2 UB, JA2 Wildfire 5.0, Patrician 2, Warrior Kings Battles, Rails Across America, Celtic Kings. It is very sweet deal.

yea i wish,or if u could can u send me most or just the files i need to do it?like just the files to save atleast,or maybe there is a update on UB higher than 1.02 or maybe a downgrade??or send me 1 of your earliest saved game say u start a before u even make an IMP and save it and send me that file to see if i can load it??

but if non of those work or there is no help for it then i guess i will just have to find a good deal on it for cheap,i do wanna try Wildfire too and steam didnt have it (good thing).But first lets try to see if any of the above ideas work first,then ill probally consider just buying it again since JA2 is really really fun,2nd from Fallout 2 though Smile

I looked into trying to squeeze the UB data folder down. It is a 800 meg folder. Smile

If I new exactly which files you were missing I could probably get some of those to you. I'll look into it. If you compare the regular JA2 data folder with the one from UB you might be able to determine which files you need.

ok ill try.i just looked into steams website to find a forum on JA2 Gold Pack but they neglected it and there is no forum for it to find problems and i hear there tech support is just sloppy(maybe they deleted it because people were complaining about it and theyd lose profit from it) anyways ill see if i can compare the files.Are all the files about the same?

I know this is an old post. I wish I would have bought the game a year ago. I am having the exact same issue. Bought the game from steam and I can't save in JA2 UB.

I noticed that you were trying to compare files, if you still want to check use Winmerge. It will do the checking for you.

When I do a version printout on the game its 1.02.

When I first got the message, I thought it was a folders permission type bug, but with more testing that wasn't the case. I'm wondering if its trying to write to a folder that doesn't exist?

Anyways, let me know Muliki if you came up with a solution.

Also i checked every single folder inside the UB folder manually, nothing!
