I've thought Blood is good but he got beaten at once.
Bull looks weak by his stats ,yet he rules -three victories no problems
Yet I must have some merc with high Leadership for otherwise they don't let Bull to re-enter establisment. As my mine in Drassena has run dry I have this compet-n only as a hope of serious income

You can fight every second day which gives you 15 grands in two days.I keep two mercs nearby - fighter and guy with leadership to get into place and then cure fighters wounds before next competion .I don't know if opposition would grow stronger there with time

There are easier ways to win Kingpin's Extreme Fighting Competition, one of them is using the marbles... (If memory serves, you'll find it with the kids in Omerta... Or was Drassen?) simply put them near the start position of your opponent and once the sucker steps on it... VICTOLY! (Small engrish joke http://aoe3.heavengames.com/forums/wink.gif)

Also you can "soften" the opponent by shoting at something behind (or some squares behind) him with a shotgun, but make sure that he won't go prone, otherwise no fight (and no money) for ya!

I've had good results on the EFC with various mercs -

*Bull (as you already mentioned) does indeed rule, but needs someone there to get him back in to the place.

*Grizzly is as good as Bull in the fights in my experience. On paper he has the same problem with LDR, but you can fix this easily by getting him to train some militia. I seem to recall one time teaming him up with Ira to train militia in Drassen and Cambria, which sent his LDR up pretty quickly. (I think it only has to be over 30.)

*Numb from MERC was pretty good as well - he has martial arts and STR of about 80 I think. I teamed him up with Cougar to get them through the door.

*And finally, in one mad game I had where I decided I wouldn't hire any mercs at all (started just with my IMP guy and picked up NPCs), Maddog was perfectly adequate. He repeatedly won the cash, despite not having H2H or martial arts, and not actually being "strong as an ox" as he claims! I think it was to do with his very high health and agility.

Hope some of this gives you ideas!

(btw, I realise I'm replying to kind of an old post, but I think this is a very relevant topic considering how much of a cash cow the EFC can be. Especially since in my current game, my only two mines have been shut down - Chitzena is abandoned and Drassen is over-run by crepitus!)

Cheers,

Wee_Man

I usually use Bull, he's cheap and good in the fights.

In a pinch I used to use Malice sometimes, but his current skill picks have been changed. He no longer has h2h.

I don't usually have a problem with LDR with Bull, not sure why but they usually let him and Flo or Ira in the door.

the bouncer (spike) doesn't check for leadership afair. He checks for other stuff. if you try entering using flo alone or Ira alone he'd be supposed to not let her in

BACK in? IIRC, he only has to get inside once. I just rest and play time while inside the building...I never get thrown back out.

i'm 100% sure that he does check for leadership, he won't let Bull or Blood in at game start, but after you trained a lot of militia in chitzena and come back with raised leadership, he does let you in.

Razor. He's cheap. Give him some brass knuckles. If you bring his strength and health up, you can win all three fights in a row. After you capture a bunch of mines and income is no longer a problem, you can always fire him.

Also, I don't know what the bouncer checks, but I got in the door with Fox, who had LDR around 20. Once you get in, you can stay in.

LOL,I have that appearance too.I have been handsome since JA1...... :naughty:

I usually don't hire specialist mercs to fight.I use ppl from my squad if I'm short on money,do a little fights and after 5 cities, money it's not a big problem.Usually Blood or Grizzly.Fidel when I hire him.

I usually use Bull, he gets it done and costs next to nothing. Flo and Bull live at Kyle Lemmon's Tattoo Parlour in downtown San Mona plying their trades to fund the operations.

I don't think using cow sex is a good reward for my extreme fighters. It takes the edge off their training if they happen to become infatuated with the damn things.

Hmmm, maybe Flo should have a shot at Extreme Fighting fame! Never tried the marbles in the ring before. I can't believe that in almost ten years of playing the game I've never tried it. Usually I leave them on a map somewhere and slip on them.

They can only be used once (per set), right?

Yep, they can only be used once.

I normally save them for the 3rd guy, just leave them in front of him and down he goes...

I usually use my IMP, even if he has neither HtH or Martial Art trait, as I favor him to gain experience (Hand to hand combat is great for Dex and Strengh increases). If I wish to leave a merc there for a long time, I usually use Thor, he has a high enough leadership to go in and can heal himself if he get hit during combat.

Some of my guys are in San Mona right now looking for Joey. Since Numb is on my team and he happens to have Martial Arts, I had him wipe the floor with the other fighters for some easy cash while in town. If I were actually keeping someone parked there to make $10k a day I'd just hire Bull.
