Why would the AIM mercenaries refer to him as a traiter?

Afterall, they are all freelance warriors, only obligated by cash, and could easily appear on either side of the conflict, depending on how they percieve the employer?

I think they say Mike is a traitor because they want to kill the arrogant .rseh.le.

BUT

Only Nails (one of my favourites) is honest:

"Finally, I can kill Mike"

And I think that there is the "fight for freedom, kill for cash" thing. AIM seems to be an organization which never helps dictators.

Mike was a legend of AIM, and after getting seduced by Deidranna BIG BUCK$$$, he become a bloody traitor...

"Mike is down. And I can't say I'm sorry for him."

- Kyle "Shadow" Simmons

I couldn't either...

I never hired Mike in JA1... sure he was the best (99 in physical skills and MRK, at least 80 in all others skills, IIRC), but I could never stand his character and seldom had 10k bucks to waste.
You can't imagine how happy it made me, when I first met him in JA2... quicksaved immediatly, so everybody on my team could kill him Wink

It would be way better if instead of running into just Mike you ran into a group of other mercs. Mike's good but numbers(+suitable tactics) count way more than individual skill.

Use proedit and put a scope on Mike's G11. Wait a minute....I don't remember, could the G11 accept a sniper scope in vanilla JA2?

Ok, nevermind that....if you're playing a v1.13 game, put a ACOG combo on Mike's G11. It should increase the challenge a bit. He'll be able to actually hit something at medium to long range.

The problem isn't hitting things, it's him getting a shot off. The only time I didn't kill Mike before he did anything other than talk (and sometimes before that even) was the very first time I played JA2. Then he got one burst off and died messily.

both getting a shot off and hitting anything are problems

depends on how detailed one maps his mod, you can make *pretty* sure Mike's in a group of other elites/ good red shirts. But i don't always take that much look at such details, so sometimes i end up spotting him on some roof in some shitty town sector or something...

btw assiging attachments through proedit won't help. he wouldn't use them. maybe the new system will help in that respect?

Did Mike say something?I tried to talk him at the middle of the battle(Erm...ok I cheated a little bit, how can I talk to mike without getting Bullets to my bit in the iddle of the battle?Razz) He said something like:
"You are the target and I dont miss" and I tried to give hi msomething he said "Belive me, Ive got everything what I need"...well some years ago I watched one magazine about games and there was JA 2 with picture where was MIKE(And dead Fidel, poor fidel)but I guess it was only beta and that Mike was missing a voice:D

Well, if anyone of those who never played Mike in JA1 and wants to try him in JA2 or contrary who played and enjoyed and wants him back - I just put him to AIM in JA2 for myself (couldn't resist temtation))) with all the original stats and speech from JA1. So if anybody wants it - I can send the files.

Note: no Doctor Q in the game - had to replace someone.

I`ve read some topics here and found out that some people could`t find Mike in their playthroughs. Well, i thought that this is my case but then i finally found him in sector M7 : Plains - a sector with absolutely nothing interesting in there. So he definitely could be found everywhere. Playing the vanilla 1.07 version.

I had the most interesting speech with Fox after she killed him : "I dated Mike. He had about as much life in him as he does now." Interesting...He was my favourite merc in JA1 btw.

I usually run into him at the central SAM, Cambria mine, or in Grumm. The 1.13 game I'm in now, I took the Cambria mine site without seeing him, but a single enemy retreated to the west. When I went to clear that sector, sure enough, there's Mike with all his friends (ie: alone). He should have kept running, of course...

Is the retreating thing random? I had no one from AIM on the team attacking that sector, so there wouldn't have been much by-play anyway. So there you go, Mike's now a pussy who runs away like a little girl. Thank you 1.13.

^Actually Mike can't retreat. More than once I've knocked him all the way to critical health, and everytime he only runs away he stops at the edge of the map as if waiting for his death.

When and where Mike is generated is completely random I think, but normally he shows up the first battle after the 3 cities/SAMs taken Deidranna cutscene happens he just had the misfortune of being spawned by the game in that moment.

once i had exactly one redshirt fleeing to the north during the drassen counter attack - i send biff, gumpy, flo, larry and bubba to mop him up (after having them reequipped) - the only to survive was bubba as mike joined the party from nowhere - i had to sent in an imp as medic for bubba ant to loot mike's gear, of course.

I am very well, actually) Certainly, writing stories - I am now a screenwriting student in London = ) That's why I didn't have time to finish the story of Mike, but I will someday)
Still, I am absolutely happy to be in England = )

Well, he still might appear in the game. I am not a programmer and can't rewrite the code, unfortunately.
But somehow he (his copy) never appeared in the game while I've been playing))
