It kind of looks like a stripped down MG15 (the gun that was used on some German WW2 fighter aircraft among other things.

I have an MG13 done up in the squad auto configuration (stock, etc) because I couldn't find a good pic of the 15.

I'd also be interested in a better pic if that is the MG15.

Yeah I could probably draw it but because of its length it will probably end up as one black line with two sticking down. I will have a go this weekend though.

Hmm well I got this whole modular thing going at the moment and I think it just got slightly out of control. After seeing Coolberg's fantastic rendition of the H&K SL8 I just couldn't help myself (as tbird can attest to after he did his great SL8 Tactical and I kinda got to work) so here is a full selection of SL8's to choose from:

H&K SL8
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8851/sl8compendiumoi3.jpg

Bottom of the 2nd column has the Tactical front section. The Top of the 3rd column has the same with a side rail too and the bottom of the 3rd column has a full rail setup off the G36 similar to the HK416/7 style guns.

It took a long time to get all these made and some serious editing Very Happy
Again I want to thank Coolberg for his amazingly detailed original.

P.S. All of these are possible (none change the SL8 to full auto) including the Beta C Mag versions and the Full Rail Versions.

The end result is above my friends Very Happy I loved the hard edged tbird black evil almost sniper rifle look. But Coolberg your shading was simply stunning so I modified yours in Photoshop at a higher res (just upsized and sharpened) and then went to town on modifying it so it could take all the mods the real SL8 can. It allows for a lot of flexibility ingame, plus giving me an attachments.xml headache to fix Very Happy

It would be very cool if someone found some pictures on the web of faces that look similar to Ja2s approach (sort of dramtic lighting, even colour scheme (not a bunch of blue and green hues) cartoonish but not too much so.

It's interesting that when I do faces the pictures that work the best are action figure heads for male faces and real pictures for females. I've tried real pics for males and action figure heads for females but they never quite get the Ja2 look.

If you find a picture of that guy and it is in the right lighting I'll do up a face.sti since that is what I am working on a lot these days.

If I like it enough I will use it in my mod.

If it is not an acceptable starting image I won't do it at all though.

@T-Bird

Yes, they did a hell of a job with that crappy whited out picture. Hats off to whoever did that. However, it does go straight to the point of what I was trying to get at. It looks exaclty like what it is, a face .sti rendered from a photograph of a real person and not the cartoonish look that Ja2s existing face set has.
I realise for your uses that is not a problem especially if you use rons faces which were all done from real photos anyway but I only want to do faces I can use in my mod. That makes me limited to photographs that have a certain lighting or photos of action figure heads because these tend to have less of a wild colour scheme.

That sti looks great considering what they had to work with but as I've said before I am only interested in doing that ammount of work on something I might be able to use.

The good news is that I am way faster at the process than I was before. I did a Katie Holmes in about 3 hours and that was four different sizes. But the starting image had a lot of the factors that Ja2s existing images have.

You never quite know how an image is going to turn out until you load it but the picture I was working with back then beat me. Sorry about that.

That close up of the action figure head is very much along the lines of what I am interested in doing. I might give that one a go. If you could find one with the whole head and not a cut off forehead I would say I'll definately give it a go.

I did an IMP face based on one of the pictures you provided. I had to make a forehead from another sti and the big image may not look the best because of it.

Which imp face did you want to change?

I need to know this to make the sti animate correctly. Each one has different xy coords so if I make one based on the wrong face it won't look right.

Let me know and I can finish it up.

That's cool but I really want to know which one Raptorko wants to replace since this is going to be sent to him. I'll have a look at those templates. I'm not sure what they would be used for.

@T-Bird

It's uncanny how similar that one looks to the whited out one. I thought maybe they did some brilliant colour and brightness/contrast tweaking.

Well it's good to know I'm not the only one handicapped by too much brightness in a picture. It is actually the worst thing to fix since it totally removes a lot of detail and introduces a lot of blues into the image.
Even overly bright highlights are problematic. In the face I just did for Raptorko I had to copy some of the lower forehead and eyebrow from another sti and then blend it in.
For a quickie I think it looks pretty cool.

They show the eye and mouth positions for all the IMP's. You can overlay it on the pic you use to make sure the IMP face will be compatible with the pic.

I tried downloading from the link in the first post but all I got was that jibberish you get when a link doesn't work correctly.

Not sure if it could possibly be something on my end since it is not a 404 error or anything like that but I have no trouble downloading most things.

That sounds like a handy quick reference if it is a visual depiction of where the eyes and mouth are. Would save a lot of the fine tuning you always have to do when adding a new face.

But since I've tried to dl this and failed twice I think I will have to do it the old fashioned way.

Got it.

I guess if you used this as a guide for making your cutouts you could then just leave the xy coords alone and the images would animate correctly?

Good idea. I like it.

I wish all the available characters had these reference templates.

Thanx man. Although it won't help me with the one I already did the hard way I can see this comming in handy.

I don't know what you mean there. Do you mean make a hybrid picture or something?

What I wanted to know is which imp face you intend to replace. This way I can make you the sti that replaces this IMP face using those xy coordinates (which are important for correct facial animation).

I already have the images made but wanted to save you the trouble of tweaking the xys yourself and just send a finished image.

Let me know.

@Bulletsix

I don't know why you would be getting ctds. What normally happens when xy coordinates are off synch is the eyes and mouth sort of jump all over the face. It looks really freaky but I've never had it result in a lockup or ctd.

Yes, I understand what you mean with it. The sti I want to replace is the 205 (or I think it's 205, the guy with longer black hair and earrings in one ear).
The thing I said was, that by choosing one or other IMP face you determine the clothes, skin color and hair color of that IMP in-game so I have to choose by this, or am I wrong?

I think you are right about that. There is a program called IMP Editor you can use to edit these colours. It has one or two minor glitches but I could send it to you with the stis if you like. You may also be able to do this in proedit but you have to correspond to the voice file you use. Not sure about any of that though.

205 is the black haired guy with the Syd Barret hairdo and an earing who looks like he has gray cammo on in the sti. I actually made a haircut version of this one for my mod.

I'll make the sti using his coords. I think his default clothing is black pants and a gray shirt.

E-Mail me and I'll send the stis and the editor if you like.

I might use this one in my mod.
