Hey all,

since I really dislike how some of the mercs look like (who heads out for a war in jeans and t-shirt anyway?) I'm looking for a way to change their clothing.
Well, not the actuall clothes per se, but the ability to change the color of their clothes would be nice (so they can dress in black and look like real mercs).

I'd settle for a permanent 100% camo as well. But I'd prefer the color changing.

Thanks in advance!

Update:
I tried with Proedit, but that didn't seem to change anything. I used Lynx as a test person but after changing his clothes to black he still starts with his normal clothing after starting a new game.

actually, proedit can make your mercs black so it should work with lynx. which game are you using? becasue if you are using 1.13 and higher version, there are 4 prof.files

if you use olde rversion make sure you hit save and export in proedit. The merc will still wear shirts and pants but changing them to black is possible. ther eis also a tool that allows to change the colours itself, it edits the ja2pal.dat where the merc clothing colours are saved

Yeah, I'm using 1.13 at the moment.

I just edited all of those prof files, and that did the trick. Though it doesn't really make sence that you have to edit 5 different files before the clothing is changed on the mercs.
Those files look identical in both filesize and data contained, so why would the game require 5 of them?

Would it work to just edit 1 of those files and simply copy/paste/rename them or does the game require the original ones (as in I'd have to edit all 5 files for all mercs I want to edit?).

thanks!

Edit: Appearantly you have do to edit all files seperatly. Copy/paste doesn't seem to work.
Edit2: Now it doesn't work at all... I edited all files but still no change in the clothing. This is weird..
Edit3: After messing around a bit more, it works gain. I also found out you do only have to edit one of the prof files and the copy/paste/rename thing does work after all.

each prof.file stands for one difficulty setting. prof1 is the easiest setting, prof2 is harder and so on

if you always play the same difficulty setting it is enough to change one file
