Hi scorpion,

seems like a cool mod. problem being that i cannot run the game as per installation instructions. i have ja2 + 1.13 installed, extract the renegade "rr" folder into the ja2 folder then dbl click exe and receive a message "cannot start game as fmod.dll file is missing". am i missing something or can i dwld this fmod.dll file somewhere.
Thanks again for the modders who rejuvinate the games we have come to love.

fmod dll comes with ja2 1.13 installation.

so something is wrong/ missing in your installation of 1.13 or ja2 RR

Five seconds on google reveals several download locations. However, if one file is missing, who knows what else is wrong in your install.

so your ja2 1.13 works, but your ja2 RR doesn't?

that's strange because RR uses the same fmod.dll that ja2 1.13 uses. what version of 1.13 do you play that doesn't require fmod.dll? have you updated your SVN? because on the main branch of SVN here

https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir/

you can find fmod.dll

now as you say you don't have fmod.dll anywhere on your machine, i'd suggest you download a version of 1.13 that has this file. (updating SVN might already do the trick)

thanks

make sure you use one of the exe's provided by the RR download, preferably the beta17 based one.

i couldn't figure an RR related bug from your description.

i am using the beta17 exe to start but it still leaves all the inventory of the merc in the lefr hand corner of the screen. will install a clean copy and see if that helps.

Thanks Khor1255, but i already dlwd a copy.

Scorpion - i reinstalled Ja2 1.13, extracted the RR file into the Ja2 directory and started the rr game with the beta17 exe. all went well (loading screen and such) but then i immediately got the laptop screen with the 'start new Game', load saved game and options screen in the background. i cannot start a new game. so somewhere in all my lack of understanding i missed something. it is as if the game immediately starts a new game after i get the load screen with the scorpion and armageddon music. help please.

what resolution are you trying to play on?

did you download and install the patches and additions mentioned in the "rr patches and additions" thread?

I renamed the (mainmenubckground.sti) file to 640x480.sti, and now everything is working perfectly.

Scorpion - i am trying to play on 640x480 res.

Okay i renamed the mainbckground.sti to 640x480.sti and i can now start a new game without having two backgrounds overlapping. but i still have the problem that i cannot access the inventory of the mercs. as stated before, when i open the inventory menu by right clicking on a merc, i see the inventory slots as empty and all the items are squashed together in the left hand corner of the screen. i can still use the command buttons that are left of the inventory slots but not the items.

yes Norse, that was exactly this problem, i had this one fixed in one of the patches that's why i suggested to install the patches. It's generally a good thing to do.

NamRob

it's not a Bug that i know. So it would be useful if you post a screenshot. Because it is an unknown bug, there must be something that is seriously different to a normal working game and we'll have to find out what it is.

have you ever tried running the new inventory or some other modification? *edit* that's not a suggestion!! please don't. Just in case you had the newInv installed, that might be a source of such an unusual problem.

Scorpion - i just checked my version of ja2 1.13 and the date is 11-08-05 and i read in your rr options that it works on the 9-14-05 version of ja2 1.13, so it seems all along that i have the wrong version (yes you did mention that i check the version before :-/ )
so could you inform me where to get the updated version of ja2 1.13 please.
hopefully this will sort the problems for once and for all

thanks
