How can I edit the ingame music? I would like to replace the default tracks with some Rolling Stones, The Doors etc.

I know that music files are named: (check music.slf in DATA folder; get unslf program)

Battle A
Creature Battle
Creepy
Death
Marimbad 2 (main menu I think)
Menumix1
Nothing A-D
Tensor A-C
Triumph

so rename any of yours preferred songs to any of these name and the game should play it. I used to change them but I found game played TOO MANY TIMES the same song Sad

plus in that time the files HAD TO BE in WAV format and I don't know if this still applies

You might want to try mp3directcut to merge several tracks into just one, big continuous mix of tracks.

Thanks!

they must use the same format as the game; open one of the originals with the inbuilt sound recorder in entertainment and you'll see what that format is (can't recall of the top of my head). Simply use that device to record you fave tracks from CD or MP3 and name them as Marimbad etc. They can end up being massive though; larger than all of speech put together. It's worth all the effort imho to kill bad guys to the backtrack of something more suitable to your tastes!

Why not just turn in-game music off and run (using whatever player) in the backround? I have a specific "game rock" playlist for this and other games with about 400+ songs in it. :rulez:

You do not need a slf extractor to replace the music.

Just make a folder called "Music". Place this folder in the "Data" folder. Convert the music that you want into WAV format and re-title them corresponding to the original titles.

I made a music modification. You can check out how I did it, by downloading and looking at the files. It can be found here.

Hey guys, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

When I place a "Music" folder into "Data" with the .WAV files named exactly as what's in Music.slf (I used the Dragon UnPACKer to look at the exact naming), each file I add to the "Music" folder leads to the respective track not being played in-game. Total silence.

I'm using vanilla 1.13. Any ideas? Does JA2 only play .wavs with a specific encoding or something?

Thanks!
G

You can also use .ogg to play music.

Just make sure the file names are correct so that they override the ones in the .slf
