Hey Scorpion. I'm writing to you in this same case as always - JA2: Renegade Republic. Unfortunately this time I don't have optimistic message. I'm worry about the future of modification.

Nowadays the situation looks like this - Beta version was published 5 months ago. People was playing the game but now no one wants to play it longer. Everybody is waiting for final version and I can't publish my translation. All the time I'm waiting for final version and I can't wait any longer. I guess that there are no new patchs and generally nothing is happening at the moment.

So my question is - When you will publish the final version of RR? Believe me, me and the players are waiting for that.

Hey Scorpion,

I finished Free Arulco: The Bitch Must Die (and she did) and now and I am lookin for something else to get excited about.

I took a look at this board but there is no thread that stands out as an introduction to new players as to what the Renegade Republic is and entice them to play it.

So, what's the Buzz? Tell me what's a happening!

Thanks,

Albert - PariahSolo

latest release of 1.13 doesn't seem good enough a platform for final RR release. waiting continues, i can't help.

eastwoodean

there is a custom recon report in RR that gives enough feedback for you to make up a story. Also, custom e-mails help.
maybe play the game through twice for easier writing.

Yikes.

Most mod work has little to do with 1.13 changes. But if the map editor is really broken you have a good reason to hold off on serious modding.

But if you have an idea you may as well put something together. Believe me, there is a lot of work to this that involves 'vanilla' modding.

i was only referring to a "final" release of RR.

currently, quite a load of RR's features get lost as soon as the player updates to the next exe of 1.13 (this is due to lacking base externalisations)

clearly, i can't handle my players a final version that will only be "final" for a couple of weeks until the next .exe is present and using the next exe will disable my players from using RR's features.

for itemmods, you can surely use the current release, and for "vanilla" modmaking, you better start yesterday becasue it takes long ;-D

also, things that don't change during updates can be worked on anytime... character faces or scripts for example.

for example, i improve RR's quests while using ja2005 mod as a base. I think at a later date, with a useful 1.13, i might be able to rather easily port some of these quest work back.
(this is assuming 1.13 gets back on track at some point)

actually i grew so fond of ja2005, i wanted to release RR under this engine as well, but there's obstacles for which to overcome i lack the time.

so both projects, RR ja2005 as well as 1.13 RR are kind of... unready and unfinishable in the current situation.

i want to finish either of those though, and at the same time i got more involved than i wanted in some WW2 mod stuff. Then there's a boatload of ideas i wanted to implement once i get the time.

so basicly i'm running 4 projects now, and all of them proceed, it's just due to engine limitations, i can't finish 3 of them, and the 4th is in its infancy and requires me to do things i didn't subscribe to do ;-(

shitty situation for me, awkward for potential players and even worse for Len who has to work with what i have to offer...

Very rarely do I see such diligence as far as mod designers, congrats Scorpion. You have truly done a well job and yes I do agree that version 1.13 needs some work being in the current build there are no patrols and the Queen wont attack towns that have been taken. Definitely don't be too hard on yourself as your doing much more than I ever see most modders do so don't be so discouraged. I myself as a computer graphic designer cant even afford the engine or programs to keep up but I don't stop either.
