Uploaded the new EXE (2296) in English, German and Russian.

But we had some runtime errors in multiplayer with it.
I'm not really sure if it is because of the new code, but we did not experience these errors in earlier versions.

Ran into folling runtime error while doing nothing special at all:


Assertion failure-- Line 3042 in A:\interface.cpp

Missing interface\timebaryellow_800x....(something)

Was using builld 2296


There should be a file named Timebaryellow_800x600.sti in your Data\Interface folder. If it is not there maybe you have deleted it. You can download it from

Hey Rowa,

Still have the file in both of my Ja2 versions (the other one is a test build for Headrock's description box).

I'm pretty sure though that I loaded the good version as I always look at the Ja2 exe version before clicking on it (i.e. 2296 in this case).

We'll see if the error happens again.. as I played another game without that error.

That time I had a clock-hanging error which may have had something to do with a merc being almost dead and unable to rise to his feet. I've heard of this issue before and it doesn't have anything to do with the multiplayer, although in the end -- when the merc was completely healed -- I was unable to do anything "clock hanging". That part may be related to multiplayer. But then Redgun came back (traitor Smile and killed my mercs. The clock became an arrow again and I was able to quit the game.

After doing some heavy motivation work to get people to install JA2 again we finally got around to testing MP today. It simply rocks (though 1 game froze when the enemy AI interrupted but other than that the whole thing was running quite stable.)

We were indeed missing grenades/explosives though. It would be a blast seeing them make their way into the mp-world someday. Other than that keep up the good work... really great stuff. (:

I LOVE Jagged Alliance. Haydent, RoWA21 if you guys will manage to pull of a full game in MP in Co-Op, I'll love you forever ! Smile

I think all the efforts should be concentrated on Jagged Allince Multiplayer to make JA playable in co-op for the whole game. This would expand the lifetime of Jagged Alliance. I would gladly help coding, but I'm not a programmer, so I can only test it. Sad

Did anyone already try a multiplayer game with Wildfire maps? Maybe with the new Wildfire-Mod of 1.13? I think, they are very more realistic and detailed, which would make multiplayer games very more interesting.
Maybe we could give it a try.

Keep up the great work, I'm really looking forward to a stable release for multi player.

Coop or Versus would be wicked.

I just don't know if I, or my friends would have the patience for a dodgy release, but this has -so- much potential. I'm still very interested in this, and so are a lot of other people I know.

hate to disappoint , but figured better to let you guys know than not... im not planning on doing any more dev work on the current system. ive taken it as far as i intended and it really can be taken not much further bar the odd tweak or feature implementation, and my next stage if any would most likely be pretty much be to start over, in the broad sense of the word.

(of which im not even in a position to do myself currently, as have gone back to linux(puppyos) only on my pc, after originally leaving it for windows just to make this mod).


Overall it is pretty "dad & dave" being my first attempt at game programming... but "playable" which is as much as i ever hoped to achieve.

So play the current release or not, just dont hold your breath expecting anything from me anytime yet that im aware of.

hi haydent, would you kindly tell us how to re-enable explosives in mp? we rarely play with enemies anyway and find that a good chunk of the game including weapons are disabled.

They are disabled because they are not synced over network yet Wink That means, using explosives won't be possible without much more development.

I think explosives were enabled in the earlier builds but was subsequently disabled because of how the computer AI spams grenades... Any info on how to re-enable them would be great Smile

No, any explosives are not synced correctly from each client to another. The same problem with explosives from AI.
There would be more devolopment to do to make explosives work.

what it was is that they werent disabled, and would work on the explosion creators machine as in sp, but either nothing would happen on the lan as they werentm synced or it would crash the game.

the thing needed to sync them is learn in the code about animated tiles, building/structure damage (optional) and radius merc damage... all possible, just time, maybe one day as my code skilss are getting leeter now im doing php for web carts.

sure, im in web design now so can do this easy in some spare time , i will think this over but im open to any suggestions for features, but thinking about it now a forum prob is the best format for linking up and voicing interest, to then organize meetings from.

it seems like im the last remaining person willing to play Ja2 MP. unless all people have move to a different communication platform. I still check the IRC channel every day, but it seems that all are gone. Sad

Maybe you can post a little help on the site with the most important "IRC" commands. Could be useful for some players...

EDIT: I just registererd on the site, but now cannot "sign in" with my valid email address and my valid password. If I click the sign in button first it looks ok, but then it redirects me to the site again and I am not signed in.

I think we could still create an MP forum here, it's a valid mod that could be improved with shared tactics, etc...

I beleive there are alot more people out there playing MP than we see showing up in this thread and occasionally on the IRC channel.

I was regularly playing it in a Lan with a friend.

hi i have the
ja2_rel_en_2020_NI_B13 EXE file patch version
and downloaded the latest version of the multiplayer exe the english one i mean...

but dont work....

the log into the menu says i try to connect to my own PC IP address....

so maybe i must set up a network ? i'm a noob... how to play online ?

Hello Capitone,

you can get the latest version of JA2MP here. Its version 2059. Just download it and extract the files into your JA2 directory.

In order to start a multiplayer game, you need to find some other players. Visit IRC Chat in order to find other players. Then you have to set up the 'JA2_Mp.ini', which is very easy; a lot of players can help you with that and in addition there are help texts and descriptions in the file.

with you want to play more often, please also take a look at volunger's side
