Hello Capitone,

you can get the latest version of JA2MP here. Its version 2059. Just download it and extract the files into your JA2 directory.

In order to start a multiplayer game, you need to find some other players. Visit IRC Chat in order to find other players. Then you have to set up the 'JA2_Mp.ini', which is very easy; a lot of players can help you with that and in addition there are help texts and descriptions in the file.

with you want to play more often, please also take a look at volunger's side

i have the version you said the 2059 but still i dont get how to play online....

So i guess there are not many players from Italy....

Holy mother of god, there is a MP mod for this game?!?! I have to dig my discs out and get this setup!

I live in a house with 2 friends that also played this game... can we use one copy of the game for all of us or will we each need a copy?

That basically depends on whether your lawyers are good enough. :vader:

Wink Just kidding. I own Jagged Alliance 2 (and UB. And Gold Edition. And JA1 hehehehe), but I don't think anyone's going to stop me for lending them out to friends, especially if it means we get to enjoy the game on a whole new level. And 1.13 is a whoooole new level. :cheers:

Idunno. Never tried it. Very Happy

I'm hoping to start a match against a friend who just learned about the awesome world of Jagged Alliance. He's German, so you can bet he likes it Wink . Hoping to do some tactical tutoring. BTW here's an interesting and completely off-topic question / shameless plug - has anyone tried HAM in multiplayer? Would that even work?

First of all I want to thank you guys for making this mod. JA2 was one of my favourite games back in the days and still is. I've had some epic clashes with my bro with this mod. Great work!

Though I have a couple of questions regarding balance. First off the random teams isn't very balanced as the team with Scope (sniper) has a major advantage. I've skimmed through the editable files but haven't found a way to change random team setup. Is this possible and how do I do it?

I've also tried to change the mercs starting gear in MercStartingGear.xml but that only works for the one who sets up the server, the one who connects gets for some reason (bug?) another set of weapons (for example the one who sets up the server gets Ivan with the 1.13 equip with the AK-104 and the one who connects gets the vanilla equip with the Vikhr). I've set the MP sync directory to Data-1.13 which contains the edited .xml file with no success.

Forgot to mention that I have the latest version.

Hi hagar, I don't know if it will work but you could try to change your settings in the server. If the server uses the sync maps it should work. Your server settings would be global. The player that connects would download your ini, thus using your settings.

Here's what I would try: Inside C:\Program Files\JA2Gold\Profiles\UserProfile_JA2113\ there is a few files there that make up your settings. especially Ja2_mp.ini.

Perhaps this file then needs to be copied into the my server folder inside C:\Program Files\JA2Gold\MULTIPLAYER\Servers\My Server ???

Here's what mine says:

[Ja2_mp Settings]
ALLOW_CUSTOM_NIV = 1
CIV_ENABLED = 0
CLIENT_NAME = crazybite
DAMAGE_MULTIPLIER = 0.5
DIFFICULT_LEVEL = 3
DISABLE_BOBBY_RAYS = 1 < set this to 0 if you don't want to allow extra weapons via bobby ray.
FILE_TRANSFER_DIRECTORY = MULTIPLAYER/Servers/My Server
GAME_MODE = 0
KIT_BAG = [201,214,243] < this is your standard kit of a small med pack, a canteen, and a wire cutter. It is on top of the AIM kits. I'm not really sure what the proper number is for the proper item, maybe you can find a list here in the forum. also when using this you might want to balance more and not allow merc equipment straight from AIM. I don't know if any coder would change the way this works. Like allow AIM equipment 0 or 1..
MAX_CLIENTS = 2
MAX_MERCS = 4
OVERRIDE_MAX_AI = 0
RANDOM_EDGES = 1
RANDOM_MERCS = 0
REPORT_NAME = 1
SAME_MERC = 0
SERVER_IP = 127.0.0.1
SERVER_NAME = Server Name
SERVER_PORT = 60005
STARTING_BALANCE = 50000
SYNC_CLIENTS_MP_DIR = 1
TIME = 13.50
TIMED_TURN_SECS_PER_TICK = 60

[SERVER]
"MULTIPLAYER\Servers\My Server" = 8FGE1-GIX2D-BNFKJ-JD2KB-MOEFA

any ideas from anyone on this??

I've tried LAN games, games using Hamachi, and games over internet.

If there's a protocol you can use it.

There is no central server like other games where you can browse thru online servers. You will have to contact other players and arrange a match that way. Ofcourse it would be cool if you can browse thru active servers and join them if it is possible.

Tried it out (among lots of other things) but it didn't work. Smile

Anyone else that has experienced the same problem, that the one making the server gets 1.13 equip and the one that joins get vanilla equip, but found a way to fix it?

Yesterday evening I tried to play MP with a friend and had actually no problems in running the game (JA2 Gold, 1.13 and MP 1.5);

However I encountered the following bug:
In realtime mode my friend had the "pickup items menu" opened and I ran into an enemy; the game moved to the turnbased mode and the pick up menu disappeared correctly; everything was allright until it was the turn of my friend and then he could not perform any action. Moving the mouse to the position where the pick-up items menu was showed pieces of the menu so though you could not see the menu he was able to close the menu because on mouse move the close/ok button showed up a little and was clickable.

Other than that we had the same issues with different items loot for each character.

Last but not least I have to give you my greatest appreciation for creating v1.13 and MP functionality; I, too, never thought that this would be possible and I can only congratulate you
for your effort you put into this! I hope you will find a way to have the whole campaign be playable in coop with your friends. To make it easier you could remove features like the complete Militia thing but it would be awesome to travel from sector to sector to finally free Arulco together with friends!!

The Bobby-Ray inventory differs from player 1 (host) to player 2. While the host is not able to buy e.g. spec ops kevlar upgrade kits or recon kits (misc/misc those kits to upgrade kevlar) the second player and all others could.

This is pretty nasty though, as I as host would still love to use those stealth armors.

Pick any position with cover and put a merc without camo there and drop something on the distance you see him.

Walk away.

Take another merc this time with camo and put him on the same spot and go on your position with your spotter - he will be seen.

Now bring shadow on that spot and he won't be seen, which only leaves the conclusion, that his camo is only working because it is 'hardcoded' via standardequipment.

Wanna know something else funny? Take a couple mercs with a couple weapons and give no one armor. Load the weapons with glaser ammunition and go only for headshots. This will result in many many 0 dmg shots even from 0 space distance. The only explanation for that to happen is, that actually no matter if you have armor or not you at least have the kevlar on.

Without armor and any distance to your target no AS-Rifle should result in 0 dmg with glaser ammunition and yet it happens a lot.

Shadow is a packet whichs is gonna be sent by A.I.M. with a starting level of 5, maybe your other merc (which doesn't see the other one) is level 1? At least below 5? Wink

I took Gus, Len, Shadow on both teams to test it. Maybe you just don't wanna admit, that you always bought the camo kits for nothing? Wink

I even tried it with ja2.exe _3329.exe and 1.5mp.exe

I could flush you with screenshots but the end is the same.

I took Gus without camo put him on the spot - every guy on the other team could spot him from the exact same spot. Then I put Len with camo there and everyone could spot him from the exact same spot Gus (without camo) would be spotted.

So now I place shadow there and wanna bet what happens? Nobody could see shadow from that spot you had to move like 5-6 tiles closer to spot him. You can try to dodge that all you want, but it remains the same. Mercs with the camoflage skill are the only ones that take advantage of woodland camo.

I tried it in a housespot aswell btw. I put all those 3 mercs behind a window and now shadow would be seen from the same spot all others would - this leaves no doubt about his woodland camoflage working.

Get a co-op campaign function going and people will flock to multiplayer, methinks.
Not a small obstacle though.
