Yes. But the main information about the plot and area of operation you can find here (in English):

Hi Scooly,

Been looking forward to checking this out. Smile One question though, I am getting ready to download and was wondering if I also need all 3 patches, or does patch #5 include the fixes of both 3 and 4.

Edit: I can read some german, french and spanish, but not polish. When I click the 1st link to get the beta download it takes me to your liberate arulco site, but I don't see where to download the beta. You might make that a little more worldly friendly, by writing "download here" in there somewhere. Smile

Hi Marlboro Man!

You need to install all 3 patches. "Download file" in polish - "POBIERZ PLIK" Smile

A request from the terminally feeble. I tried to load this and wound up with a garbled screen.

Can the installation procedures be laid out in a step by step manner - starting out after the clean install of JA2, I know I know I did something to screw it up, but I will say in my defense that I am an idiot when it comes to such things.

Thanks,

Masguy

I've recently loaded up this mod and it's really good stuff. Having tons of fun. Very Happy

@masguy

The installation for the mod isn't very difficult. Here are the steps I followed and all is working fine. I'm assuming you're running the English version.

1. Do a fresh install of JA2.
2. Install 1.13 on the fresh JA2 install.
3. Unzip "Legion_2_beta"
4. Copy the files JA2L2, profil configuration file, and Starter from the #English - only exe folder to your fresh JA2 1.13 installation.
5. Copy the Data and Data-1.13 folders to your fresh JA2 1.13 install. Overwrite the existing ones.
6. Copy BackEnd.dll, fmod.dll, and Ja2 configuration file to your fresh 1.13 install.
7. Apply patches 3, 4, and 5 by copying the necessary files, use the English exe file.

This worked for me and I'm having a pretty good time. The NPC dialogues will be in Polish, but the interface and everything else remains in English.

On that note, I do have pretty good knowledge of Polish to translate the new writing and NPC dialogue, so if anyone would like me to translate a few lines I can help with that. Smile

Here's a new patch Jazz released a few days ago. It has all the previous patches, so the installation goes like this:
- Steps 1 to 6 from Entity's post
- Download and apply patch6: http://www.legion.zone.zg.pl/dwnld.php?lng=pl&pg=325

Entity,

Thanks very much for the instructions, but I was not being falsely modest when I wrote that I exceed the specs for idiot when they try to make things idiot proof.

So, when you say:

"Copy the files JA2L2, profil configuration file, and Starter from the #English - only exe folder to your fresh JA2 1.13 installation."

A more competant person would know what to do, but I don't, because I don't know which file(s) to copy them to. So if you could indulge my incapacity a little bit further, by providing just a little bit more detail, I and others like me would be in your debt. While I am an idiot about these things I am proficient at others, so, if you ever have any questions about underwater photgraphy, for example, I would be glad to render assistance.

It's not a problem masguy.

Ok, let's say that you have JA2 1.13 installed in C:\Games\JA2.

You take the files mentioned in your post, and just put them in the directory mentioned above. If it asks you to overwrite anything, say yes.

Hope that helps. Smile

Entity,

Thanks again. I followed your instructions (or I think I did). I checked to make sure my upgrading to 1.13 was functional, and then I started copying files. The game almost started. I say almost because when it began, I got a mishmash of the opening screen (in english) where you pick whether you want to start a new game or load a saved game, this was mixed in with the map screen, which was not functional. I know I screwed up somewhere. Any suggestions?

What uninstall? Of all 1.13 and original ja2?
Maybe you mean re-copying files in the right way is (might be) a solution.

So what do we have here? A shiny interface, maps, and a story without voices to sustain it?
Don't mean to discurage you guys (quite the contrary) but you sure make a lot of advertising for what your "beta" actually is.
Landing zone is a good surprise, lovely distances to travel and explore. Enemy movement in maps isn't quite the shite, but hey...I like the mapping: not my style, but there's certainly a style in there. Reminds me of of Romualdas' obsession for symmetry and the SJ mapping.
Keeping fingers crossed for you,
Az.

@Scorpy: have you played?
Methinks this is the kind of exe and game setting we've been searching for: done by a modmaker, for modmakers.
Only problem as far as I'm concerned is: Jazz is doing it only for himself.
And in polish. I'll be damned if I don't have less problems with understanding russian than polish.

I also like the tuning of the mercs, and the game idea. Different!
Wander what could we do to help with the english version...

6. Copy BackEnd.dll, fmod.dll, and Ja2 configuration file to your fresh 1.13 install.

I found the problem. As I said before I am not computer savy (although my wife thinks I am - so you can imagine how hopeless she is) but I can follow directions. What stymied me was the fact that there is no file called "Ja2 configuration file" in the files listed, it's the JA2.ini.

As far as the game goes, lots of good features, the battles so far have been tough (playing on the Expert level) because the enemies are lot clumped together in large groups waiting to catch a greande or two. Obviously it would be more fun to play if it was in English, but that's hardly a valid criticism, consdiering the work that was done to make the game playable for us mono-linguals.

I guess I have to apologize for that complication masguy. That's simply how the file showed up on my system. It was called "Ja2", but was classified as a "configuration file."

That's because JA2L2 supports v1.13 at 867 release.

There's a new patch and you don't need previous ones. All you need to install JA2L2 is:
JA2 + JA2L2 + PATCH#6
