I think there was something about people complaining about drug use in a computer game (more Americans and even worse Australians refused to classify it for that). So we get a lose-lose situation.

However they can't ban MFM Smile

Yupp people just love telling other people what they can and can't do, see, feel etc. Even JA was not free of this censorian behaviour with the Gold Pack the whore house had been removed... that's f*cked logic at it's craziest "it's ok to shoot a lot of bad guys but you're not allowed anything related to sex!" Nutz.

lol yeah in this day and age I thought it would be the other way round. We'd have to hit them with pansies and go to the whore house after! But hey its the over hyped GTA syndrome thats affecting everyone. Mainly cos its all total bollocks.

Anyway can't wait to get some time off to actually have a play around properly with MFM (1.13). Will have to check out UB too Smile

Last map done at last. B-Map altered to suit new layout. Just testing now but not much time to test with and very tired. Busy until Sunday night then I'll get straight down to it. All new stuff has gone to the testers anyway.

Some things are new, some are just recycled in a different setting really. Had to get some ideas out my system! Filefront takes 24 hours to update it's records so it's only just now showing any take-up. Phew for a second there I thought it wasn't working at all.

You may think parts of this mod are too easy and that may well be the case but think of it as the quiet still before the storm. The battles for the factory sectors and some others will challenge even the most experienced JA veterans I believe.

don't worry. I don't give all that much on difficulty. Once i get around to see the levels and fights, it will be about beauty. But first i have to buy some more hours for my day. a total of 72 per day would be good.

i read the read me thing file and see you want to try vengeance and B2B. B2B has awesome mapping IMHO, i think you'd like that.

yup. I need a decent break from modding; i like playing my own maps but there's no wow or surpises for me and I'm always checking stuff with my makers eye. Playing another's work can be just pure fun without thinking omg I need to change this or that. I'll have my english/german dictionary at hand for yours. Is B2B in english or all Russian? I have no crylic dictionary. Then again guesswork can be fun too.

B2B is german too. there is a russian version of it that apparently has some more features and tweaks to it. You'd have to ask some of the russian guys in the community for more info about that though.

Will, don't worry too much about MFM Tracona being too easy !! I'm playing expert and can attest that level is definitely challenging. After a prison recce I'm wondering where to find uber-LAWs and mortars !! Needless to say I split from there real quick and real wounded (pride-wise too). What's Madlab's problem - he turned hostile when released from his lockup. Is he po'd because the guard robot got wiffed by lowly militia?

edit 1: played sector again, this time at night. Guard-bot didn't rush out to greet militia this time, so I had to track her down myself - with heavy med-kit use after retreating. Before bot-combat, however, I looked up Madlab (using Len for high leadership) and got hostility again. Went back again next game day to finish up. As expected, militia had regenerated, but guard-bot was nowhere to be found. Mad lab still hostile. Will I meet someone later who can recruit the warbot?

Thanks for all the really "nice" surprises !!!

edit 2: OK, what have I done to p-o everyone ??? Manual is hostile too. Help please.

challenging you say ? wait till you get to north ricci , effen impossible on expert !! having to rethink tactics , i.e. get to hell outta there Very Happy thoughts on gameplay so far , far too many items duplicating at drops ,how many pairs of leggings can 6 mercs wear ?,( now if you could double em up...)and definitely need more heavy weapons earlier , like the surprises so far ,graphics , well it aint 1.13 , but gameplay much more challenging .I'm only at day 4 ! headed north after fracas at jail with tail between my legs , damn it ! :ok:

Will, you have really outdone yourself with ths mod !!!!! Many times in vanilla-JA2 I can skulk around at night to clear a sector without even being shot at, let alone hit. And I don't think I've had to retreat from combat since, oh, probably 2001. But this one amigo, grrrrr.

Why have I pissed off everyone? Surely I haven't killed a civilian somewhere along the way, I'm pretty sure I haven't even seen one ???

Edit: Never mind Sad I figured it out - and I should have known, since this is a "factions" mod. I always take out the nasty landing on the pilot. Baaaaad thing to do, until one visits proedit. Sorry. Well, at least after starting over I'll know better how to stay whole.

Some enthusiastic feedbacks thanks.

Lockie... I've never had the moonwalk bug in my testing (I got it on the island in UC sometimes so at least know what you mean) my only solution is to come out of the game and go in again. Did you get it to stop or is it an abiding pain? As for items... I made it a drop all facsimile. You have no income other than the cash you find and no Bobby Rays. You need a lot of that ammo, you could sell some of the high end stuff you don't need.

Sorry to Sturmblade for confusion, my instructions always seem clear to me until people say eh? & then I realise I'm as clear as mud!

Very useful against machines I find!

Now some credits where credits are due. Those TWS guns are from the unused part of UC (the pictures I mean) I don't know who drew them, but thanks. The nice chix pix are of course R-Rons funky faces. The bif MF robots are a tweaked version of the UC ones (again I can't recall who drew them but have a funny feeling it was Wodan? I've certainly sent an e-mail to the creator a long time ago about the robots before this mod was even in my head. The leedle robots were in the original Sir-tech files but not used... now you all see I am just a JA Doctor Frankenstein sewing strange things together; flick the switch Igor I want to see if this f*cker comes to life!)

Inside the Data folder.

Two handy screenies to show you what the file structure should look like. (Ignore the 3 files backup, editor, radarmaps (which didn't work anyway) that's just mod making stuff and probaly not with the release anyway). Why are UB auto-radarmaps so damn yucky??? I apologise for them in advance.

I am away until 1st September & will answer any questions when I return.

Will, your read-me is clear that vehicle exits are one-way out, without return option. Is the fan in the J13 power station also one-way? Of course, in regular UB going thru the missile complex ends the game after clearing the control room. Will the same thing happen here, or will the elevator bring me back to some place in UB Tracona? If the former, I'll pass on this option.

BTW, I managed to clear J13 in only 2 tries, killing all robots in the second trip. I never bothered to use Madlab's pet before, but am finding it very effective in sniffing out the oppposing robots. Must be Warbots machine oil fragrance that makes it so effective !!!

More surprises !!! So Tex is one of Carmen's pals, Huh. So now we know his "value".

Long time readers of this board will remember that I'm not a big fan of v1.13. One of its really good features, however, is the LMB or LMB. That feature is probably not possible to implement in UB, but it sure would be nice to have with all the dropped stuff. It's good to see members are finally talking seriously about developing a stable platform.

In terms of service to the GAME PLAYER, you Will Gates, and Scorpion, are worlds ahead of the rest of the community, and I appreciate immensely what you both have done.

finally came around to playing some sectors of MFM tracona.

sadly, my german unfinished business version makes certain parts of the game very very difficult to endure (the voice acting is horrible and in parts missing)

hope i pick up some RPC's soon and can dump the AIM/ MERC douches.

or maybe i just copy parts of the speech from ja2. Hmm.

lol

fighting crepitus without the necessary speech lines proved as too hard (ctd's). talk about difficulty.

after extracting the needed speech from ja2, it works now and i could conquer varrez. Tried to talk to postie, but somehow his speech caused a stopwatch on me so i'll try that again.

there's a huge load of enemies and an even huger load of equipment on expert level. my 7 guys are swimming in stuff. oh well, mostly seen the standard (modified) sectors, yet here already some very nice tileset and mapping work. Hopefully i get to see some more of that later in the custom maps.

*edit*

so postie worked this time, was a coincidence last attempt. Conquered varrez central (intense fight), sold lots of stuff to the gun trader.

hope to find another recruitable or such to get two squads going in order to explore the custom maps later on.

say, what's with the vehicles?

when i want to use the ice cream truck, it alwayws sais "path blocked". How is it supposed to work? what am i doing wrong?

yay, i'm getting more rpc's to join. including slay.

although i have a bit of a glitch with his nickname. also the recruitment process was glitchy as if it had been handhacked in the old days. maybe a relation there.

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/3654/weirdslayvn6.jpg

as if the full name was used instead of the nickname. weird. anybody else had this?

i figure Devin uses his script from ja2? then i'll have to have some more patience until i can recruit him. i mean since he's no trader in UB, i'd have taken him with the squad immediately but no luck so far.

In a hindsight into proedit. maybe hiring Fox would help. hmm.

fighting my way to the custom maps now... starting to conquer sardena. nice assault style map there.

btw will i think i caught you copying maps Very Happy
What i mean is a glitch that i observed in map h14. There are "ghost trees" if you know what i mean. ghost trees result from changing tilesets on a map with existing vegetation

They sometimes hinder vision as their treetops can't be untoggled. In the game, pressing "t" and in editor mode, shift-t will toggle all non-ghost trees. Those not affected are the faulty ones (don't have shadows or jsd info either) and are better deleted.

otherwise i'm having great fun. I have skipped the faction mechanics so far so i get to see more of the landscape without having to bother about respawning hostile civs. Which means i'd have to be smart with the robot... getting the camera without them noticing. hmm. left it so far. Gonna get it later on, one way or another.

yeah, i don't switch. i play this mod through as one piece and then leave UB again for a while.

Took the teleport from sardena to a bunch of bloodcats battles and back. Lol great to have some regen boosts around.
one of the bloodcat sectors has an awful lot of ghost trees. Sometimes vision is rather obstructed. Also i'm guilty of some AI abuse. I guess i killed every solider on the minefiled sector in about the same 10 grids space Smile

As I first thought, going through the missile complex will end the game. But isn't that what you internded Will? I finished the robot factory and secret silo, and discovered the way back to Tracona. Long hike from the LZ back to the power plant. In some respects the final battles were the hardest of all !! The robots are tough on the ground, but are easily overcome with another tactic.

Very nice mod Will. I enjoyed playing it.
