Well, one Ramfall is worth a thousand of the regular kind so I would say your country is well represented here.

Hehe, thanks guys for the warm welcome! Dan, you're making me blush! I like it! Hehe. Finn, glad to have you around. Especially since that means that I'm not alone in sweden to recognize what's so great with Jagged Alliance!

Welcome back Ramfall. Been a while since I've seen you about Very Happy

But then I was a bit of a noob in the UC and DL days.

@Kaerar,
well, back in the UC and DL days we where all rather noobish. And yes, I don't think I have visited this forum for some years actually.

@Finn,
Cagemonkey, hmm, I'll take a looksie. I have much catching up to do it seems.

touche...

Well seeing as things are much easier, everyone has started expecting a lot more Smile

Only thing to really sort out now is how to fix the EDT side of things and make the bigger images useful Very Happy

Oh and make the screen have bigger resolutions (the interface is easy its getting the small dots on the screen to do what you want that isn't).

@kaerar,
what do you mean? What is the problem with the small dots? And why is the .edt's causing problems? Limitations?

When you get to 1024x768 or higher it means everything on the screen is reduced heavily in size (no scaling in this game!) making it look too small to see the detail.

My bad on the EDT's I was actually meaning the quest engine. The EDT's just hold the subtitles don't they? With some quests hardcoded and others breaking easily I think reforming it to a more modular and robust system would help. But I am no coder so I am unable to do this myself (have a hard enough time with the gfx modding!).

Well, I actually prefer the 1024x768 resolution because of the greater overview you get. I'm able to get a better sense of where my mercs and enemies are with the higher resolution.

But regarding the quests I totally agree. They are all over the place. One place for all quest handling would be a better and more easily moddable solution.

Yeah I found the bonus of 1024x768 about 8 months ago and never looked back. Thing is I would love the Tactical to have zoom levels so if you have a Sniper rifle you can see enough map for it's range rather than having to scroll all the time. But that's a pipe dream for this engine...

Yeah, that's pushing it, for sure. The biggest change in recent years is the convertion from a game with limitations (pre-source code release) to a game with possibilities (post-source code release). Back in the day it was all about finding the games limitations and create a way to use this to your advantage. Now it's mostly a matter of understanding the big picture in the source code. It's pretty apparent that several programmers where involved in the creation of the original game, and you have to figure out each programmers way of thinking. And the sheer size of the source code makes it very hard to find what you're looking for. But in a sense, the sky is the limit.

I think we should have medals, too. Some for modding accomplishments, but also for the most notorious badasses in multiplayer. Saves the notion of multiple badges; you only belong to one unit at a time, but combat/engineering awards can be many.
What say ye, JA vets?

@Drake: There are plenty of badges for Modders, just have a look at the first post in this thread.

@Gorro: That's below the belt, don't kick a man when he's down.

Can you please remove the name from your post please.

He is not down (kicked). Then I never would do this.

He is disabled due to own responsibility.

I just simply think this would be proper

Sorry for digging up an ancient thread, but it was the only one I could find in my old posts search.

Is there any chance we could get an experienced voice actor medal/patch made? It would be great to identify those out there who've recorded speech for games and mods before, as they are always a little hard to track down and a sought after talent for mod creators beavering away, including myself.
