I'm pretty sure DU ammo was removed a few versions back.

Also, it is sci-fi only and you can only buy it from BR's.

DU is used in large calibre shells, mounted on things like US aircraft and tanks.

The DU in game is for small arms like .50 cal, hence the sci-fi tag.

DU only showed for a handful of guns and it wasn't that good. Last I checked it had been removed from the XML files but someone could add it back in.

DU was removed for 10mm Auto, and it was deactivated for 7.62x37mm. There was no other DU ammo.

I also haven't found yet any DU rounds, but there're plenty of ways to use more sophisticated stuff than that.I doubt a 7.62mm DU round can match a .50 BMG fired from a Barrett M82 for example.

It was really sweet, huge penetration and armor corrosion. Of course it also destroyed your gun while you were using it, kinda like AET. Hey, what ever happened to AET, anyway?

It's still there, why'd you ask?

Sometimes enemies drop it early in the game (when they are still using pistols).

When enemies are switching to rifles you cannot find AET anymore, of course.

And as it is most useful later in the game you'll need to buy it.

The concept of a backup gun loaded with AET ammo is hard to code for the AI, I'd guess (especially the decision when to use it).
And if Deidranna uses conscript soldiers then they'll probably not have a sidearm anyway. So it should only work for Elites, and it should be optional, if anyone decides to take up the task.

Maybe Headrock played DBB mod? AET ammo is not in it.

Hmmm I don't even know what DBB is. I simply updated my old JA2 installation off the SVN. I haven't seen any AET so far, not even on Bobby Ray's, and as I said I went through a whole campaign. Maybe I missed something? It's purple though, isn't it?

Yup. AET is purple. It comes in most pistol calibres, 9mm, .40 S&W, 10mm, 5.7mm, etc.
Enemies do carry it on occasion. Check the enemyammochoices.xml file, and see if AET is listed (it should be by default). While you're there, I would also enable flechette ammo. It's fun!

The DBB mod is a chinese-made mod for 1.13. It adds hundreds more guns and attachments.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that you didn't turn Sci-Fi mode on. I think AET has Sci-Fi tag.

AET shouldn't have the sci-fi tag, unless its been added in recent updates.

Nope. Playing 1.13 2085 + NIV, and have "SciFi" turned OFF. I've cleared Drassen, Chitzena, and Cambria + all 3 SAMs. Bobby-Ray's now has AET ammo for sale in all of the pistol calibres. (can't remember what setting bobby-ray is on, but i think it's just one step down from the one where he sells everything right away)

Silenced SMG + AET = instant red shirt blood pools. Smile

Yup. AET is a very effective ammo type. It has the same armor penetration of AP (armor is only 75% effective against AP rounds), and the damage potential of HP (actually slightly better than HP ammo). HP is 1.5 times as effective against unarmored/flesh targets, whereas AET is 1.7 times as effective, and glaser is 3 times as effective. However, armor is 150% effective at stopping glaser rounds, which is why they suck, except against bloodcats.
