Damn... All I could find was this:

http://www.jacenter.pl/downloads.php?cat_id=70&download_id=120

But I'm not sure it's the english version - could be polish.

The disappearance of the SOG download is disturbing. Does anyone have this stored on their drives? Hmmm... I might still have a copy. Better go check.

Yeah, I do have a copy on my hard drive. If anyone wants to provide a site to store it, I'll be happy to upload.

Thank you Headrock.

It supports English,Italian,Swedish and five or six more.

A) Installed JA2UB 1.0 from CD
B) Patched to JA2UB 1.01
C) Installed SOG'69 English

_______________________________________

I am unable to play regular JA2UB, so I set that up in another directory.

In the SOG'69 starting map, the radar map shows you can go N,S,E,W.
But there's water to the west and north. Is that normal?

Cool that you got it working. I love this mod. Maybe one day it'll get ported to 1.13, that would be exceptionally cool.

Ummmm I don't remember what you're talking about (with the water?). There isn't much that's "normal" about that mod, it was quite revolutionary compared to mods other JA2 campaigns, and very weird around the edges... But omg it's a good one.

Check you have a Vietnam (yellow hills, much jungle & rivers, not much big water to speak of) looking B-Map in a file called Interface. If not you have duff install. If yes check you have set SoG Campaign in Set Campaign dialogue. There is also SoG patch. See threads for correct order of install.

I have the mod installed, only the starting map looks the same as original UB. There is water on the west and north sides of this map. According to the radar map there isn't supposed to be water here.
Does the patch fix that?

yeah, its fine, the UB manual says the game can be modded but H7 cannot be changed at all, so it'll still have the crashed chopper, snow, and the water west and north.

If the port happens someday, could they redo the beginning and get into a jungle LZ?

Yes indeed it would. I wonder though, could the beginning be redone now that the source code is readily availible?
Would be nice to see a proper jungle LZ in that starting sector.

To copy the maps into the 1.13 you would need the ub map file converter utility. Kermi might have this on his site.

Radarmaps should just be a straight copy/paste.

Since SOG69 is based on UB there is currently only one resolution. But you could always try converting the whole mod to the 1.13. I am not kidding here. A lot of the SOG69 stuff should just be a straight copy/paste.

@ Scope: jungle version of LZ H7 in a patch/upgrade.

@ Dan; some things would be copy paste, some would have to be manually copied; from SOG's prof25 into 1.13's prof but it's only a dozen or so rpc/npc's. Maps imported as you say. But more complex are: No B-Ray in SOG. Starting @ H7 instead of A9. No ore mines. No income. One time mission fee? Unfinished rpc Eva. Blocking off sectors SOG doesn't use. Tilesets sti's need some work especially the Fire Base howitzers as the palette is all to whack.

The unfinished maps (nothing here) are dealt with in the patch.

I've said it before & I'll say it again: somebody please do a 1.13 job on UB or an 800x600 job at least; it'd be so much simpler than trying to import stuff from JA2 to UB and back again.

Hey Scheinworld, a bit OT, but would you also happen to have the JA2 edited color pallets file?

Do you mean the edited JA2PAL.DAT for the (\Data-1.13)\BinaryData folder (Pinkskin-Mod) by Tiger?

I'm having a go for my own personal peace of mind. SOG-69 is so unstable on both my pcs and the compatability settings don't help. It seems like every time a character opens their mouth the sound file goes into a feed back loop, not just for the new characters but for the default speech files as well, converting to 1.13 seems like the only hope to get anywhere in the mod. So far it's going okay, I need to find a few gun pics that match the rest of 1.13 but the real hurdle looks to be A9 - H7 has any one got any ideas to handle that? And turning off the helicopter shadow, rope entry? Though if the helicopter animation could be added to the landing zones rather than landed helicopters that would be nice.

I did a test version where A9 was 1st LZ but blocked to all directions on foot. Parked heli to south was exit grid to H7 LZ... worked for me.

Your sound issues sound odd, you did copy mercedt and npc-data over?

Thanks I was thinking along those lines as well but hoped there was another way.

The sound problems happen when playing SOG in Unfinished Business, even with the default UB sound files. Which is why I want to convert it to 1.13. Well that and the NIV.

Make sure it is winamp that handles the sound files not windows media player, you can leave the playback as your normal midi or whatever. WMP seems to cause all sorts of problems to JA sound files.

Must just be my perception about the sound thing but I'm certain it runs better without so many freezes. I think if windowsmediaplayer is left as the "default always opens files of this type" it actually tries to do that while you're playing sometimes (especially if the file has been externalised for mod reasons) causing delays, silences and freezes. With winamp checked as the default it doesn't seem to happen that often if at all.

WMP is a curse on all Windows PC's and should be banned!

WinAMP or Foobar is the way to go Wink

Doing the above definitely solves problems of that nature that aren't related to soundcard issues.
