Anyone else think he is one of the best Merc's availible in game if not THE best ?

My reasonsing -

His cost - cheap even when he gains experience
His Wisdom improves quickly along with his other skills like Marksmenship
Heavy Weapons skill - awesome Very Happy
Cool attitude and comes accross as a tough can-do person.

And the best line when seeing the Bugs in Sci-Fi mode... '' Jesus who invited my mother in-law ? '' rofl

Like to hear your thoughts.

I've gotten used to him lately. He plays a pretty important role on my team, and I'm ALWAYS in need of a Strength trainer (Bull sucks).

He's okay, but I always prefer Grunty to handle the heavy weapons. Also, I'm under a misconception that "big" guys get hit more often.

Although I used him in my recent "big army guy" theme run along with Gus, Stogie, Bull, Wolf and IMP.

Yeah, he's one of the best for the cost.
I always hire him on day 1,and he stay on main team.
I got his wisdom around 82 i think, from practicing explosive ( i take my time between each battles)
He's not much of a stealther with his low agility, but thats not his purpose and there are other mercs for that job anyway.

In a few days in my current game I'll hire him once again, as I usually do when heavy weapons come into play. My man for operating mortars, thanks to his strength he's outclassing Grunty there. Great to use from the beginning on, too.

Doesn't how often or rather easily you get hit have to do with agility? To me it's always seemed as if they aren't "quick enough to hit the dirt" they get hit more often.

It's a misconception?
Cause to me it happens all the time. Of course it *could* be that I send them to all the most dangerous assignments (if they can't take it, no one can!)

Interesting nickname you got, Finn, if I might say. Considering you're a Swede.[/offtopic]

Pardon my inglese.

Headrock posted on how combat works a while back. Go look that up.

Best starter merc in the game. Low cost, great attitude, decent Marksmanship, decent Wisdom, great Strength to carry everything you find and open doors, HTH and Strength to win some money from Kingpin and knock out a few redshirts early on to steal some better weapons, Agility goes up to 70 quickly (not stellar, but adequate), great Health to take a beating and heal quickly. His only drawback is his hatred of Dr. Q (idiotic, to me - even in 1999 he would have been too young for Viet Nam, so what's up with the anti-Asian thing?). I seldom play without both of them, Grizzly anchoring the daytime team, and Dr. Q (along with Igor and Blood, of course) ruling the night. Hire Grizzly first and keep Dr. Q away from him, and he'll stay happy, even without Bull. Hire Fox to train his Dexterity and Agility (ahem, and perhaps sell film of said "training" to Hans for some extra cash Wink ), and he'll get up to respectable levels before too long. Put Wolf on the team for a little 'menage a trois' and you'll keep all three happy. If you can pretend he's not racist, Grizzly is simply the best there is.

It's an ancient Norse name, common in Norway and Denmark. It doesn't have anything to do with Finland if that's what you're getting at. Finland is spelt with one n, Finn with two.Wink

I always has Grizzly from the start, but frankly
even when he has around 10 pts higher markmanship hi hits target worser, then Igor.

It could be Grizzly's low dexterity ,50 ,right?

I never thought Grizzly would handle the rifle worse then the others. I really don't see the difference between two guys with 88 marksmanship and differing dexterity.

For example Buzz has 40 sg. dexterity, and there is nothing wrong with her aim. (same with Hitman)

If his low DEX troubles you (it is important for sneaking around after all), let him repair stuff, and nominate him to the boxing contest. Smile

I thought that was agility.

Headrock's wonderful "How combat works" or "Chance to Hit" guide.
All of Headrock's "How to" Series should be required reading for everyone who plays this game. Anyway, the "Chance to Hit" guide says that low Agility mercs do have a lower chance of dodging bullets, although that goes up with level. And it says that high Dexterity mercs can reduce the chance of a target dodging, also increasing with level. In sum, yes, low Agility mercs do get hit a bit more because they can't dodge, and low Dexterity mercs do hit a bit less because their targets can dodge, but both of those effects are diminished as the merc increases in experience.

I'll also note for edvardus that if you like a merc better, it seems to me that you'd be more likely to give that merc better weapons with better attachments, which translates to an enormous difference in how much that merc will hit the target. Before you compare mercs, make sure they have roughly the same equipment.

Oh, and Finn, I believe you're right - Agility, not Dexterity, affects stealth. You can improve both by fighting with fists and knives.

Personally i think Grizzly is great.
I like his character and have him on one of my assault teams.
I especially like his one handed rifle animations. Where he can fire two handed weapons (rifles etc.) with the one hand, its not tactical but pretty cool.

I like him too, because you can have Grizz and Fox on the same team, Unlike steriod =( though I like steriod, Fox> Steriod 99 Dex or something and can heal and shoot to boot, but only bad side is you can't have fox and steriod. so choose one or the other, and if you choose fox you can have Grizz make up for the lack of HW personal.

Main reason I don't choose Grizzly is that he doesn't like Igor. Used to always choose him before I found out about Igor and how quick he learns!
