Introduction
Ja2 MP is a Mod for Ja2 1.13, which enables us to fight with and against each others. It was created by haydent with support of RoWa21. Later on Zathras developed a very cool user interface and continued working on the project. (Thanks guys, really great work)
Imo, it is the best mod for Ja2, the fun and the thrill of MP gaming adds a new dimension to your Ja2 experience.

Status Quo
The mod is operational, however there are a few features not implemented yet. Zathras and RoWa are working on it. Imo, any addition and help to improve this mod is appreciated very much, but please make sure to contact and ask haydent and RoWa about it. There is a small fan base and we try to increase our size, so please join us if you are interested. If you have played any version or mod of Ja2 before, then you are ready for some fights. Smile
CommunicationHow it all began/archive
  • The very first threads seem to have vanished. I'm sorry for that.
  • Part 1
  • Part 2
Installation & How2Start Future / Goals
  • Solid player base, with regular games
  • Balancing of Weapons and Items
  • Implementation of additional features and maybe even game modes
  • A serious of games or a little tournament

Please add your ideas and suggestions concerning JA2 MP here. If i missed anything or made some mistakes, please feel free to tell me.

The MP website http://world-of-jagged-alliance.tk/ has a link to a web-based IRC, you click the link, and you're chatting in IRC.

One thing you may find though, is that even if there are a few people in the room, you may have to wait for a response because they are probably already playing a game Smile

hello and welcome.

JA2MP is still in development stage, so a lot of features aren't working yet.
Cooperative is a game mode were you can select a sector and then kill all enemies in cooperation with your friends.

Skype is a program used to telephone or write messages. IRC (which is the most used form of communication here) is a chat system. You can join our IRC channel quite easily just click on that link: http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=%23ja2-multiplayer

Hi all, good to see that MP version grew and expanded.

Yesterday I thought to have a go with a friend of mine to test the latest version with.
It seems as their is no out of sync issues anymore like in the previous versions. (haven't searched for posts about sync after reported to be causing problems.)

we played a few deathmatch games and all went well with that. nice!

co-op was a different story, one of the PC's crashed back to desktop, after starting the game and walking one square. (no messages or error in the screen.) Perhaps that PC stored a log event of the crash I don't know yet.

Nb. I have played this game using hamachi to make a safe tunnel to the other players. This seems to work well for all the connected players AND, you can use hamachi's chat protocol to chat.

If anyone wants to try a game or two we can have a go.

[edit] Is there a way to make a pre-defined order from bobby? It is nice but not very time effective to do all that stuff over and over again for a game. When saving after buying an error appears that there was a problem saving. (I will have to search the forum if there is already some solution or explaination)

@crazybite:
- CO-OP should also work fine. Weird that it crashes on your PC.
- Saving and loading in a MP game is already fixed for next version MP Version 1.3

Question on Co-op can you leave the sectors and go to different places? I have tried several times with my friends and it just says combat in sector but there are no enemies in that sector and wont let use leave and go to a different sector.

Hi.

When i start whole 1.13 MP, in to the window appears long list of errors, but it keep going to menu.
I choose "Multiplayer" and i try start my own server. When i try run it, but then comes error.

Assertion Failure [line 1939 in file .\button system.cpp]

Attempting to QuickCreateButton with out of range imageID -1.

So, i'd like to have some tips, help anything to get this work!

Playing an entire campaign in coop would be awesome! Especially if each player can control his/her own squad and go to different sectors.

That wouldbe awesome if you can get the whole map working in MP. Would be the single greatest MP fix for 1.13 IMP.

It would make JA2 the single greatest turn-based strategy game in history. (Oh, wait. It already is that. Wink )

Also, what's a good free IRC program?

ahhhh got ya thanks

Is there any release notes for 1.17 so I can see whats been added please Smile.

Thanks

P.S

This really is great MP in this type of game is perfect and just what I have all ways wanted since X-Com :0.

I was gutted when Silent storm came out with no MP I mean what where they thinking.

Is MP in this game still worked on a fair bit as I cant wait for full map support and not just rounds that would be mad as hell me and my mate fighting each other over the entire map trying to capture it Surprised.

One more thing thanks to those who have made this possible I love this style of game play and now with MP its perfect Smile.
