You gotta love him. I freed him in Tixa to help carry all the crap I found there, back to Cambria. On the way from Tixa to the SAM-site south of Cambria (two squares) he gained four points of strength. xD

In my last game I had him with the team 'til the very end and let him have a go at Deidranna. Wink

The disappointing youngest son now estranged from a rich dynastic family who has had problems with drugs and despite being bitter has his heart in the right place? Deja Vu. Can't play without liberating him.

lol...I remember when I gave Skank a shotgun and he killed a crepitus. Never saw a happier guy. Last run through I had him on my team to the end.

In my current game, I was using him as a mule to carry arms to Tony. He got devoured by bloodcats on his second trip. Goodnight Skank..

lol he is the most worthless character in this game Imo. I gave him two ammo packs and he was "overburdened" 100+% weight....
I had him unload 3 turns of ammo into a guy and not hit a single target whether on spray or Aimed shot. yeah i just used him as cannon fodder after i got fuel ^_^ i'm just mean.

u made a big mistake by let him died, he raise the pourcentage of the town for you.
And even if he is weak at the start one of the goal of this game is to make characters level up, so Shank corresponding exactly at this purpose.
Land in OMERTA free CAMBRIA and TIXA and you have him from the start off the campain.

I like to see my merc level up, but Shank's abilities are really too low. Another problem is I don't go to Tixa until, mid-game, after liberating Alma and getting the quest to release Dynamo. Maybe I would keep Shank, and I would definetly keep Dynamo, if I could recruit them at the beginning, without distorting the progress of my game.

JAcrazy: I don't really think anyone in Balime would me happy to see our Shanky back! However, I do think olivier mistakes Shank to Dynamo and his family in Alma. As far as I know, Shank is only important for the fuel. And for kicks. And for locals-only game.

jpg: Do you really use the exact same route in every playthrough? Same mercs, too, perhaps? Exactly same tactics?

More or less, I know it seems rather silly, but I like the mercs I am used to enlist and don't want to keep them out of the game. It's the same for the playthrough I always conquer methodically the whole map, with as many mercs as I can enlist, other play styles (small team, solo, short campaign...) don't interest me.
Each campaign takes me at least 6 month as I don't want to spend every evenning facing a computer (after the first couple of week :/) . When I begin a new one, usually after a couple of year, I want the same as before with more ... but no less.

Shank usually infuriates me to the point that I just let him get massacred.

He may be smart but training him to be a decent soldier just takes too damn long. He makes for a decent medic though. If he's doped up on energy boosters, that is.

I remember a playthrough where Shank, Dynamo and Maddog formed the worst recon team in all of JA2 history. Dynamo was wielding some pump-action shotgun and a few grenades, Maddog had a scoped hunting rifle + sidearm and good ol' Shank lagged behind with a Glock 18c, some medical items and a buttload of bullets in his vest/chest. Shank's pretty good at drawing fire, after all. All this all-star team did was sweep through Arulco, looking for redshirt patrols to destroy. Their stats improved at a steady pace and all was looking well for our three compadres until they ran into a blackshirt raiding party (on their way to reclaim Alma or something, I reckon). I believe Dynamo was the first to fall. Most likely by some scoped assault rifle. Maddog came limping up to Shank and they both got turned into mush by a grenade or two. Oh, the agony!

I usually rescue Shank and Dynamo fairly early in the game, so he has plenty of time to learn stuff. He doesn't make the 'A' night-ops town taking team, but he does well enough defending captured territory with the 'B' team. He's relatively smart, and the price is right.
