**Edit**

Just thought I'll start a spoiler thread to keep spoilers on one thread instead of all over the forum.

*Request*

Rod and spring - Can someone tell me if rod and springs still work like in 1.13. So far came across rods, no springs. Looking to assemble lower AP cost weapons for more deadly night incursions.

Good night ops SMGs to use - having trouble in my second game trying to take down the enemy elites with my puny guns. Please give your recommendations for gun/accessory combinations!

Svetja - what do i do with her??

47- Er, who is he? and why does he appear as a green dot on the map??

Cambria Hospital F8 - During a night insertion, i got found out and explosions went (a lot!). Do i miss out on NPCs and any important stuff? Cos i don't mind playing that sector again, but right now with sniper rifles and ammo being available, my SOP (standard operating procedure) is to sweep through a sector quick with sniper squads.

*Possible Spoilers*

...
..
.

Mike - having started 2 games and in both taken the old Drassen town. It seems Mike turns up there? I came across in the middle square, then in the other game, he was at the airport.

Ilja - I took only the first town (old Drassen), cleared the way to the NE Sam and cleared the NE corner. Went back to Ilja and lo and behold, he joined up! I did used a high leadership merc though - in the mid-60s.

There are lots of mines in and around the hospital, and if I remember correctly then he had problems with civilians stepping on the mines.

When I arrived at the hospital the first time I thought "I hope I am not supposed to rescue anyone here...".

there are many hints and straight answers in different RR threads, so maybe its really a good idea to sort 'em up into something FAQuesque...

iirc in hospital was an endless supply of smoke under the front door, so its gas masks or find some other entrance. inside there is a switch - just like the red button in old Alma shooting range in the room with General - that everybody and his cousin wants to push when the alarm goes on. so, keep quiet, block the switch and the hospital will work on...

re Hummer - it's in Kutaisi C6. just i've found it not very good idea to buy it. easier to get Leon and his Jeep for free. logistics can be tricky in RR - there are 5 vehicles (2 cars, 2 boats and a train) around, but you can use only two of them, so be careful what you choose, as you can not change your mind. theoretically you can dismiss vehicles, but it does not really work.

re copter base - showing your recommendation papers to that wolfenstein guy (local police) should do it.

Thank you, Burzmali. I'll be more careful next time to look for the Hummer in C6. I've seen several references to Wolfenstein, but never encountered him. Please give hint where I should look.

I'm assuming I don't know these things because I never got very far in RR because of freeze-frustration. Hopefully my new laptop w/Vista o/s and a "more stable" 2124 version of 1.13 will go a long way to correct the freeze issues. I'll also try the v0.3 EDB when I get a chance to staer over. Thanks.

copter base with Jake's junkyard is still in I6, but that local policeman is in I5, also a man complaining that he can not do business because of that police. wolfenstein will keep your papers, but i have not met anybody else interested in those papers. still, if you decide to solve the situation peacefully, its good idea not to take stuff from the boxes there.

hope the new exe will work for you - RR is a nice mod with many surprises, but all those freezes were real pain...

OK, I checked I5 again. Buck, probably the smuggler, complains about corrupt police and offers some kind of unspecified reward. Wolfenstein apparently is the corrupt policeman who confiscated Buck's smuggled goods. However, Wolfie doesn't say much and gives no hint that he can arrange for the helicopter to land in I6.

- What is Buck's reward, and do I get it for killing Wolfenstein? If not, who?
- Do I just give the papers to Wolfie after talking to him? If not, what do I need to say to get him to trigger the gasoline quest?
- Is it worth kiling Wolfenstein anyway after giving him the papers? Or will that void the gas quest?

OK, I'll do that. It may be a while though, in a new game.

Long story short: I gave up on RR early this year after much freez-tration, perhaps half way through. I tried a savegame on new laptop in October with better success. I sent Flo back to I5 to check out the situation there just before clearing Demoville and completing the game. However, the "immigration" papers are long gone. My current questions here & in other thread are in prep for starting over, hopefully in a week or so.

one of the quests that seems to work is to save the "democratic leader" Ornald from being executed. then he'll warn you about Williams and appear later in Trabzon, where you can give him the golden chalice. to save him, you better arrive to the prison sector from east or south, at night and quietly.

the most complicated quest, involving Doc, Einar, 47, Butch and "real" Mike (not the cloned one you probably killed already) can give you some stuff and a merc to hire - or not. as i have also gotten it so that none of the involved will talk to me. so i'm not sure in which order and tone you have to talk to them.

Try talking to her with irina, friendly/ direct etc.

Svetja should then walk away and lead you to a few places of interest in the landscape. However, if you've already played RR, you've probably seen these places already without her aid.

it's more like a little introduction to walking scripts. Gotogrid normal, gotogrid running, gotogrid teleport, traverse east, traverse south etc.

In rr2005, svetja leads the player to Crissy. Simplified script there in order to not confuse players wth she's doing.

Yeah. If you manage to save him from execution, you get access to a couple of different endgame versions. But other than that, he is of no major quest-wise importance.

What you can do to access some extra content you might miss this way:

once you finished the game, reload a savegame from before ornald gets killed and try saving him and finish the game with one of these alternative end game versions. They don't differ all that much but have some interesting twists to them.

Ah ok, thanks!

I reloaded and skipped the prison for the time being. Playing a game at expert without without mine income or buying items from Bobby Ray's, so my gear kinda sucks at day 20.

Can anyone tell me if it's important for Irina not to die throughout the game or at what point roughly it's okay for her to do so? I've captured the old Drassen airport, the mine and the SAM site all in the NE. But because of a lack of first aid kits and medi kits I've had to be rather ruthless on who gets killed. I've had to sacrifice a couple of mercs in order for others to receive the necessary medical attention. She's becoming a pain in the ass and pretty much useless in a firefight, so I'm willing for her to be the next permanent casualty if required.

I was worried about the same thing as I lost her early on, it's a shame as she acts as a guide and can get more of the locals talking to you, so I've been told. I just didn't want to restart and pressed on.

Well, Irina is primarily meant to be useful. If she is an annoyance or fails to be useful, you can dismiss or or get her killed whatever. There are a few things for which you require her, but certainly not for completing the game or following the story or anything.

Missing medical supply might be some sort of bug though? anybody else having this?

Defended the mine from a major attack an hour ago and in the spoils were 3 medi-kits. Up until then I had found only 1! Plus one I received when I hired Spider. Was having to dismiss mercs because I couldn't heal them but should be okay for a while now.

I did find med kits in short supply also, but didn't think it was a bug, just that usual tough stage of the game when you first arrive. I also just hired different medics so they could bring in their equipment.

Can't believe I'm still addicted to this game after a decade. Excellent mod even though it's affecting my sleep pattern. :compcuppa:

Could anyone tell me what the ownership item is for? Also how can I get the trader in D2 old port to trade with me instead of keep saying 'You piece of rotten fish!'? :headscratch:

Coming to the end of the mod now. All in all been very impressed. Just like to mention a bug. On a couple of occasions when I have dismissed mercs they haven't dropped their kit. Only happened twice but a bit annoying when you kitted them out well with all the attachments and you want the next merc you hire to take over the kit.

Still waiting for someone to tell me how to deal with Seawulf for next time I play on expert. :dontknow2:

Hi xenophon, Which mercs had this problem? So the gear disappeared? Are you sure? Did you check the Drassen airport sector?

For AIM personnel you should get a pop up menu asking you if they should drop their gear at the current sector or at Drassen airport. For MERC staff (I am not absolutely sure though) they always drop at Drassen airport.

Oh and not sure if this was clear, the work around is to put their gear into sector inventory before dismissing them. Probably this is why you don't get a lot of traktion with this request.

The two mercs were Gaston and Tex. And yes, I looked in every sector's inventory to find their kit and it had vanished.

Quote:

This is what I do now just to be on the safe side.

Seawulf problem I have would be nice to have some help, not for the current game I'm playing because I've almost finished that, but the next one I plan on playing. Have used high leadership mercs to try and get him to co-operate but he still says 'you piece of rotten fish'. I see someone asked the same question a year ago but alas no answer was given.
