throwing rocks (throwing them somewhere so an enemy looks that way?? Saw it as an option in the xml editor)
can&string (no idea, attach it to a car and say congrats?? Attach it to a door or something??Also an option in the xml editor)
(Cuban) cigars (throw them somewhere so an enemy picks them up when passing???)

How do they work?
Do they work at all?

How about the videocamera, does it work? thought I saw a "record" cursor mentioned in the xml editor...

Most of the items listed are useless, or practically useless.

You can however, attach a can&string to a doorway. Supposedly, if an enemy moves through the doorway, it will help you get an interrrupt, but I have never had any success with this.

Rocks and cigars are useless.

Madlab requires the video camera so he can build his robot.

Rocks can be thrown to cause enemies to move... it's not utterly reliable though.

Are you serious? o_O

Rocks can be thrown on doors during the night to have enemy soldiers come open them and get shot by your guys hiding in the dark. Or actually throw them anywhere during the night, because they make noise and enemies come to investigate.

Can with a string attached makes a doorway trap to have the door make extra noise when opened. Either to alert you to enemy movements or to get an interupt if you're watching the door.

What do you need a cutscene for? There's plenty of porn on the internet, no reason to add any to the game Very Happy

Personally I'm not a big fan of porn to be honest (I know what y'all is thinking right now, that I'm a nutcase. It's the truth though). However I just love eastereggs (to the extent that I'll eventually search for all that are present in any game I play. Oh, I remember the days of the first Virtua Fighter game on arcade. That was costly..), and if someone went through the trouble to hook up the tv and vid cam and stuff them with batteries instead of using them for the x-ray device and get the second video tape, there should be a small reward for thinking outside of the box. Even though I'd say five seconds would be enough and it didn't have to be porn, but just a hint of it. It's the idea, not the content, that I like.

Since it's marginally on-topic, is it possible to refill canteens? If so, how? Razz

In my opinion if you have two canteens you should be able to merge them like with repair kits, first aid kits and med kits reasonably, but that's not possible in the original game.

Oh, I mean in 1.13.

According to the description, they can be refilled, but that might be just fluff.

You can refill canteens in 1.13, just add one as "attachment" to another (merge) and it will refill the one you attach it too.

That just transfers water from one canteen to the other. By refill, I mean restoring the canteen to 100% using some water source like a lake, river, tap or spring (as suggested by the description, but I doubt I'll be finding any of those).

Good move to add that.

It is not currently possible to refill canteens from water sources. Currently, you can only merge partially used canteens in 1.13, the same as camo, first aid, med, and repair kits.

I looked through Merges.xml recently and found entries for grenade clips and cylinders. I successfully merged 20mm and 25mm clips.

I haven't tested cylinders. I didn't get the idea to merge grenade cylinders as I looked at them as six individual 40mm grenades, but I believe they work just like clips and can be merged, so no more repairing of those.

You can merge grenade cylinders, like the Milkor, for instance. However, you cannot merge individual grenade rounds into the grenade cylinders. A single 40mm grenade (like for the M79 or CLS) cannot be merged into a partially used Milkor grenade cylinder, even though in real life, both fire the same 40mm grenade.

I see. It'd be nice if you could refill them in bathrooms, kitchens and such.

@SpaceViking: Could you merge single grenades into a cylinder by adding an entry to Merges.xml for item1=single item2=cylinder and resulting item=cylinder?

But how would the game know how much to increase the percentage for the cylinder (it should be 16.6%)?

Wouldn't it merge a 100% item (single grenade) with an e.g. 16% item (cylinder shot 5 times, has 1 left) and get a ~58% cylinder like it does with rod & spring?

I haven't tested this, but if it works like that then the current XML has only mergeType to play with, there is no percentage added you can specify.

One more thing, would you need to add a merge for item1=cylinder item2=single as well, so that the order doesn't matter?
