Very Happy

AWESOME!!!

I fired up the old JA2:UB version last week (bought it off GamersGate, never played UB before), but couldn't stand the 600x400 resolution and quit again in disgust.

Once I finish my ongoing JA2:1.13 campaign I'll head on to Tracona... Can't wait to see how it plays in 1.13 !!

Many thanks (in advance) to the people who make things like this possible!

Yo Schein, Should the 7z be uploaded to Kermi's FTP site? If so, do you want to do it?

Edit 2: Yo Schein, Do I always need to select "Campaign: becomingx" as shown in your screenshot?

There are many, many others in the list, what is the purpose of them? Do they all work? What happens when I choose "None" from the list?

Hi Dieter,

Dieter
Yo Schein, Should the 7z be uploaded to Kermi's FTP site? If so, do you want to do it?

Unfortunately I can not upload files of such size like the new UB-1.13 hybrid (=441 MB!) with my current internet access, but I've asked Tais via P.M. if he has time and the right transmission rate to update the UB-1.13 folder in the archive:

http://kermi.pp.fi/JA_UB/UB-1.13/

Dieter
Do I always need to select "Campaign: becomingx" as shown in your screenshot?

Oh no, you have the free choice! Becoming X's campaign is just one of nearly 50 you can select! So there should be something for every taste I would bet Wink

Dieter
What happens when I choose "None" from the list?

You play Unfinished Business-1.13 then with the original UB maps, quests, characters and the v1.13 features! Smile

Best regards; Schein

Yo Schein, I can upload the file, just PM me with the password. I haven't read today's PM yet.

Is there a place to post UB-113 bug reports? Raul in Varrez is selling ACOGs and Battle Scopes for $1, looks like the old Tony removes default attachments bug.

Holy shit, downloading so hard right now!
Is there any information as to what all those campaigns are?
I mean 50 campaigns in one dl, sounds too good to be true.

All these campaigns are different , and weren't designed for 1.13 weapon overkill , keep in mind ! I've already played maybe half of the campaigns , most if not all have different maps , but no real progression on vanilla UB .Worth exploring though

Yeah that is to be expected.
The port of UB is also not perfect.
I had guns eject wrong ammo and some quirks here and there, like Manuel having no skills at all. Very Happy

Still, cool thing to play around with.

@all: It is planned to include Jazz's UB source code changes in the 1.13 source code, so we only have ONE code base. Then the developers simply can set a switch in the source to compile the default 1.13 EXE or the UB-1.13 exe.

@ Roman: That sounds useful, especially because the UB-1.13 hybrid didn't get much attention in the past so far. I hope this will change in the future yet and the v1.13 developers and potential mod- and campaignmaker see the potential they get with that!

I have a question: Is there a chance that the complete UB-1.13 campaign will be part of the future official v1.13 release version? So the player could decide at the beginning of a new game if he wants to play the vanilla JA2 story or the UB campaign with the newest v1.13 features.

I just fininshed including the UB-1.13 code in the development source trunk. Works fine so far.
It is not possible, to have a fully working UB-MOD with the default 1.13 executable. There are too many special conditions for the UB source code, so the UB needs its own EXE. But that is not a problem, because we have ONE codebase for the 1.13 version and the 1.13-ub version. So both version share the same features.

EDIT: the ub-version will be released on its on with its own executable, but needs the v1.13 to be installed, because of the gamedir data usage. So the ub-version only contains the ub-specific files. I think I will also release an ub-package for each language. that should minimize the size of the ub-package heavily.

Yo Guys, I played English and None, first mission, game *always* CTD when you kill the first enemy in J13, the site with the fan everyone is afraid of. Does anyone know a way to get around this bug? My guess is some script gets tripped and it doesn't work. So far there is no way to continue the game, total showstopper.

By the way, GABBI Alt+O does not trip the bug, which revealed the next super bug, when you go underground you end up in J14 sublevel 1 (which is not J13 sublevel 1, it is the sector to the East, right). Now the problem is that the main map has blocked travel to J14, and guess what, when you go from tactical view to strategic view, the game will *never* allow you to go back to tactical because the sector is blocked from travel on the main map, which apprently blocks all sub levels as well, so again, total showstopper (unless you have a save game in tactical).

While I like UB-113 and want to continue playing it, I can't. I am done unless someone comes up with some magic. RoWa, do you want a save game to trace the CTD when killing the first enemy?

(By the way, I tried everything, letting them bleed out, gas, unconscious - there is no way of tricking the bug of not happening I could think of.)

Hi Dieter,

I don't think I need a savegame. I just teleport to sector J13 and try to reproduce the bug.

EDIT: Anyway, send me the savegame.

Yo RoWa, Here is the save game using English and None, it goes into the \Profiles\UserProfile_JA2113_UB_EN directory. There is a captain dying in front of the house behind the gate. You can just click end turn 3-4 times, he will be done dying and CTD the game. Alternatively you can shoot and kill any of the enemies which will CTD as well.

I just tried, you can also start a new game, GABBI teleport to J13, and then you need to kill any enemy soldier, Alt+O will *not* trip the bug, you actually have to kill a dude manually.

Also please don't forget that entering the fan (there are some LAWs to blow it up in the building in the Northwest) will get the party to J14, which is impassable terrain, meaning once you exit tactical, you can never go back, the game simply doesn't allow you to select the sector to enter tactical again.

Are you the dude responsible for UB-113? I think I remember you writing about it. If you want I can do some play testing for you.

Edit: In case this helps, I took a save game from before I entered the sector (from the English and None game folder), copied it to the Tracona Unlimited save fame folder, loaded it (works fine), moved the squad into J13 (normally, non GABBI), killed an enemy and the game CTD.

However when I start a new game using English and Tracona Unlimited, GABBI teleport to J13, kill an enemy, the game does *not* CTD.

Maybe it has something to do with the quests & time which has passed in my regular, non GABBI, save game. Although you can CTD GABBI teleporting in a new English and None game.

The XMLs have some bugs, in case this interests you. The barrett has a 10 round hold, but the mags in the game are 11 rounds. Feeding an 11 round mag and ejecting it makes the ammo disappear. There is also a grenade thrower which takes the yellow cylinders, different from any Vanilla grenades. When you hover over 9x18 ammo in the sector inventory the grenade thrower lights up, as if it accepts the 9x18 pistol ammo as well.

I am pretty sure it is not a broken item a dead enemy drops, because I killed different guys, and they all CTD. Also Alt+O does not CTD.

Yeah i also had the instant ctd when i reached the powerplant. Does not matter which enemy you kill, each one will CTD the game.
If this gets included in the offical branch, a lot of minor things have to be fixed.
Most is xml related stuff however.

As this is an English forum, here is the translation:

It is possible that I understood the above posts wrong?
Sorry, English is not my thing, I just quickly scanned the posts.
Anyway, I played the latest version (Exe 4462) of 1.13-UB
both with "None" and with the (snapper-head party) mod
as well as the original edition, with "None".
In all cases, a CTD happend after killing the first or
second enemy, no matter whether I spoke to Rudy before or not.
Explanation? Biggins is maybe missing in the party, because I
beamed to J13 immediately after the start?
No idea.
Last week I played the end with Alt-UB without problems.

Too bad about this 1.13-UB, when the end does not work!
I've never tried it, unfortunately, although I played all mods,
but only to see whether the teleport works.

Thanks Fan, really appreciate it, not being able to continue the game is bugging me.

Fan is saying that recruiting Biggins and going through the tunnel doesn't fix the CTD.

By the way Fan, do you know what happens after I finish the first scenario, I mean the one we are currently playing, is there more stuff or is that the end of the game and all you can do is select some other stuff from the pre game start menu?

Oh, and can you do me a favor and post in English please, the dudes here are really picky about keeping the forum in English.

I played the game till the CTD in sector J 13
by gaining H 7, H 8 and H 9 and after that by cheating I 12,
recruiting Biggins. Then through the underground into J 13.

Then after shooting the first enemy: CTD.

Did I understood your question right?

Sorry, the game without the addons is not working.

But I did another one with Exe 3528.
In this game happened no CTD after Cheat o!!!
But CTD after shooting the first enemy.

Best Regards,

Fan

Hi guys.
I just tested the sector J13 problem with the latest development source code EXE and I do not get a crash when killing enemies. Thats the good news.
The bad news is, that the game always hangs on the first enemy turn when the enemies see my merc and after displaying an enemy qoute on the screen. Thats only in sector J13.

As a workaround I added a keyboard shortcut for the user whenever the game hangs on enemy turn. Just press ALT + CTRL + E and the enemy turn will continue. So whenever the game stucks on enemy turn, press the key combination instead of quitting the game Smile

EDIT: After search a little bit through the AI code I found on the enemy turn stuck. The problem is, that the enemy wants us offer to surrender, but that is not allowed in the UB AI. I found the correct place in the code and disabled the AI code part for the UB AI. Now the game runs fine on enemy turn.

Anyway, I will leave the ALT + CTRL + E key combination in the code, but it is disabled for now.

Maybe, but what should happen if you surrender in the UB mod? In default JA2 you go to prison, but in UB??

Yah, you are right, I assumed the UB INI would always have it turned on, but what if someone is so clever to turn it off in the UB INI, then the code will attempt to do transport them into prison and horrible things will happen. Is there a way to check for the code if the prison exists, meaning if the sector can be traveled?

Fan, you need to install "latest development source code EXE" then.
So you either have to get the development branch via SVN or wait till an up-to-date "Tai's unstable SCI" will be published.

SOG will need 1.13-UB and not plain 1.13. Also it will need the latest development source exe. Wait until Tais releases it.

In the meantime you can download all the UB-1.13 mods (including SOG) from SVN. Once you installed Tais latest SCI (which also contains all the needed UB-1.13 GameDir files), just copy/paste the UB-1.13 mods from SVN in your JA2 installation directory. So playing 1.13-UB you don't need a copy of JA2-UB. It is all included in 1.13 Smile

Oh, here is the UB-1.13 mods SVN url:

Here are a few screenshots of the SOG69-Vietnam MOD, running with the latest 1.13-UB development source executable. BTW, 1.13 executable and 1.13-ub executable share the same codebase. We just compile 2 different executables with slightly modifications.

@RoWa,

first of all: Thank you for SOG; I have missed it in the newest version
of 1.13-UB. :shake:

I have a question. In this newest version there is a mod-manager,
wihich I must use to adjust some things, perhaps the mod I would
like to play and the editor. Without using this manager I have to
adjust the wanted mod every time.
Can you explain the use of this manager?

Another bug happens during the game:
Sometimes I would like to change the sector and the screen
shows the direction where they are walking but the party is
walking and walking and don't reach the next sector. :whythis:

@RoWa,

first of all: Thank you for SOG; I have missed it in the newest version
of 1.13-UB.

:whythis:

@mod manager: The MOD Manager is used to select the UB-1.13 MOD. Behind the scenes, the MOD-manager automatically creates the needed VFS (Virtual File system) files for you.
So every time you want to play a different UB-MOD, you have to start the MOD manager and select the mod you want to play. If you just start the UB-executable, without starting the MOD manager, the game automatically loads the last selected MOD from the mod manager (because the VFS files are saved with the last selected MOD). This is how it works with the latest development UB executable and the latest version of the UB-mod manager.

The MOD-Manager has the same functionality like the INI-Editor for selecting the MOD you want to play.
INI-Editor -> use it for 1.13 MOD selection
UB-MOD Manager -> use it for UB-1.13 MOD selection

@bug: Can I reproduce the bug?

Yo RoWa, appreciate your instuctions, unfortunately it might be a little too technical for me, maybe I need to be sober, slim chance, I'll wait for an update with Tais' unstable, can you post again when it is a little easier, my apologies for being such a dumba$$, but you know me, I can deliver good work, sometimes...
