I am currently writing a fan fic of JA2. It's a big one, with romance and stuff, and I started wondering, how many of the mercs have a relationship with someone? I mean, if there is some evidence of one of the mercs being eg married, would You mind terribly telling it in this thread? Pretty please?
Ones I currently know/remember of are:

Raider and Raven are married. For further information, refer to their AIM BIOs.

Bull
is married (he even has kids! If you don't believe me, recruit Bull and Grizzly and get the minotaur killed. "I'll make sure Jana and the kids are all right" IIRC)

Grizzly seems to be married. (He's got a hella ugly mother-in-law).

Thor is living with someone named Cassandra. They have a kid, Fenrus. This information is found from his BIO and away message in AIM.

Ice
lives with a certain Roberta Williams, presumably his wife. (Away message in AIM: This is Ice and Roberta Williams...)

Buzz and Lynx are no-go in romantics scene. They need to heal from the previous disappointment first, IMHO. Considering they were married once and all... (Thank you, DNA. And thank you too, Carp.)

Scope is married. (this comes from JADG: try to touch her. She says something about only two men touching her like that. One she killed, the other she married.) Also, Sidney tells you he would marry her, 'if she wasn't already married, of course.' (Thank you, Will!)
[b]

Something in Gaston's and Malice's behavior suggests they don't have a serious relationship, nor will they.

Strong evidence from DG suggests that Fidel is, I guess it's acceptable word, gay. Touch him with a female character and he tells you off. Do the same with a male one... "I see you later, no?" I believe is somewhat accurate caption.

According to his voicemail, Trevor is living with someone named Sheila. We are going to assume she's not his sister, either. For further explanations, see posts below. (Thank you, AmnesiaLab!)

Biff and Flo have a thing going, as all of you should well know.

Pardon for my inglese.

EDIT:\\ Apparently incorrect fact about Sidney being married removed.
Also, Fox was removed from the scene due to having such mixed interests. (For further information, see Will's post below)

Sidney's line is "if SHE wasn't already married". I don't think he is.

Grunty loves Buns. Buns likes Sidney. Len likes Vikki. Fox also likes her "Wolfy" & Miguel & Fred Morris. Spider has a thing for Raven & Vikki but I think it is just female esprit de corps rather than full on lemon leanings.

Trevor has a girlfriend named Sheila. I don't believe they're actually married.

Been a while since i used Trevor, but i presume when he says Sheila he's using it as the Australian slang for girlfriend. As in "My Sheila's gone to the hozzie for a hizzie."

Meltdown and Stephen have a mutual liking.

And yesterday I read:
"I hear things here and there. For instance, did you know that Lynx and Buzz got married in the Dominican Republic last month ?"
- Howard Carp Melfield, in deadlygames.

That aussie is just like those SnoopDog bizzles.
.. gone to the hozzie for a hizzie ... but waz he wit'she ?

Sheila is just generic female in Oz, like Colleen in Ireland or Gert (Gerty, Gertrude) in Sheffield. Broad, Dame, Ho (surely that's a spelling mistake w...h...o... oh never mind).

Overdid it a bit. There's the gardening hoe, the streetwhore and more. Please don't tell santa.

There's a difference between sheila-girlfriend and the last few words that can signafy a female.

We have a dialect word (sounds like) pooty, means girlfriend and has nothing to do with booty.
Further downsouth the word for the same thing is 'schmaah'.

Well, when you get his answering machine, it says "Trevor and Sheila aren't available, they're at the beach." It may be slang for girlfriend, but they really named his girlfriend Sheila. He doesn't refer to "his Sheila", but just to Sheila. He mentions her when he hits low morale, too, if I recall. I think it's in a low morale rehire rejection line.

Right you are sport. It's Sirtech's stereotype humour at the end of the day. They were a bit squeamish though; Blood and Ice slag off Afrikaans South Africans no bother but it's a one way street... even Nasty Numb just says he won't work with Vikki... he never actually gets up the bottle to say why (dickhead anyway as Vikki is lovely esp in R-Rons Portrait version; love that accent).

Grunty loves Buns. Buns likes Sidney. Len likes Vikki.

Would be happy for some proof/evidence pointing to this. Also, what means 'likes'?

Scope has kids - if things turn bad, she'll say even childbirth was not so bad. and if she does not want to prolong the contract, she'll say she has to spend more time with the kids.

Raven's and Raider's marriage seems not to be a completely happy one - seeing Raven dead Raider thinks very soon about insurance and seeing Raider dead Raven says something that can be understood as "better you than me". so they work as a team and encourage each other, but seems that both are prepared to go on alone. (dunno, maybe its typical mercenary marriage...)

btw: when you finish the story - i can read in finnish too Smile

The newer downloads (since 2 years) have got this 'mercs/NPC-editor' included.

JA2/data/binarydata/proedit.exe
JA2/data-1.13/binarydata/proedit.exe

- proedit, automatically opens the file Prof.dat
(in standard Jagged there was but one file)

- the game now recognizes four difficulties and two weapons-settings;
Now there are eight different: prof_difficulty_guns.dat files.
(after editing prof.dat, it should be renamed into the proper difficulty.

- running the program.
on the left there's a scroll-list of mercs/npcs.
on the right there's a section: 'hidden values'.
Mercs can hate a single nationality, Gasket hates Russians.
Every merc can have 2 buddy mercs and a merc that will be liked in time.
Opposite of buddies - mercs can have 'hated'-mercs as well, Grizzly hates DrQ.

Thank you, DNA, though I already know about that. What I'm asking is how many of these relationships have romantic nature of some kind. Also, how many of the mercs have a relationship with someone not in the game.
