I doubt there is an actual trojan, isn't avast known for giving false positives, especially when it comes to game exes etc...

Any file i put up on that list was scanned first, that file has been downloaded a fair bit with no problems. Is it the first time you've got such a warning from avast?

for ja-related stuff: yes - and that's all i use my pc for. i use AVAST, 'cause i have been told, it's the best-for-free virus protection for pcs. haven't had anything on one of my macs (, naturally).

that's why i asked for some 'non-maccie' to check that. AVAST could not repair the file, so i cancelled unpacking.

thx

@ OffTopic

you should add that avast has to be stopped while downloading - it corrupts the archive, so it cannot be unpacked properly.

is there a better no-cost-protecter than avast?

thx

There are a few free anti-spyware/malware programmes:

Super Anti Spyware
Spybot search and destroy
Malwarebytes anti malware
Spyware blaster
