Download and extract all files in your JA2 root directory. Overwrite any existing files.

ok. It is only for the German version. When you have it. Then should use the Package. To make it work.

Do you have the English version, so the problem is probably still somewhere else.

Yup..I install JA2 Gold then updated to 1.13 with SVN. D'loaded V1.0 of the MP as instructed and I still get that error. Can't think what I'm doing wrong. Do I need to install JA2 Unfinished Business to get it working?

Or do I need to remove/replace some of the .ini files?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just to be clear, you have the german version of ja2?
Have you tried the old MP_DE v1.0 package or the new one that RoWa21 uploaded yesterday?
You don't need Unfinished Business.

nope...i have the Eenglish version


English version should start fine if you have installed 1.13 correctly.
If installed corretly and still not starting take a look in your "Data" folder and see if the file "Intro.slf" exists. If not, edit vfs_config.ini (located in your JA2 install dir) and remove "Intro" from the LOCATIONS (Line 5), then save the file and start JA2 again.

@danno: You have to connect to the external IP of the running server. The person who is the server has to give you his external IP otherwise you can't connect.

You only have to enter "127.0.0.1" if YOU are the server, otherwise the servers external IP is needed.

Realtime mode is not disabled, neither in coop nor in DM.

We played some 1.2 coop yesterday and actually it works great. Max AI works fine (and is ridiculously hard btw). However we experienced 2 or 3 CTDs during combat with unknown reasons.

Realtime works in CO-OP and Deathmatch (but the new Real-Time MOD is disabled). I already experienced crashes sometimes in CO-OP on the server which are yet unknown. But we are working on it to fix it ASAP.

Also roof-top and explosives & grenades will be synced in the future. BTW, I just synced cutting fences, which will be available in Version 1.3.

The inventory fix adressed the balance issues I had and also means a hell of a lot more replayability. Going to be fun fooling around with the starting gears.

very nice!!

I've only had time to quickly see if merc starting gear was working and saw that it did! Now we can play a more balanced game and if we want that gun on that merc we can now thanks!

IDEA: could it be possible to add respawns to the game? this way your merc could have a few more lives than 1 giving another depth to the deathmatch game. Every merc "life" would start somewhere else on the maps edge?

I picture this: it is added as seperate gametype, or it is a few extra options when deathmatch is selected. This could be done before starting server?

Then in the ini or menu you could set the available respawns?

Any thoughts?

edit: @RoWa21, I don't mind but in your signature still reference to 1.2 MP version, might confuse others..

There is a bug with CTD, when hiring a merc (from M.E.R.C , but i think it will crash on AIM mercs too. Not sure about random teams, I'll look into this, as soon as i find someone to test with).
Other players reported the same problem.

I think random mercs go fine, I just played a game with someone yesterday and no CTD's. (that game had no bobby ray allowed or any other laptop stuff witch could make you better)

I also installed ja2 and 113 and mp1.3 on another machine in my lan to try some more testing.

It seems to me that there is a problem and possible CTD when I play alone and do not make any moves with the other merc team. This is a case where one player would get interrupt after interrupt, but not using the turn. (so one pc is on wait for the turn, when time goes by turn is returned) In this scenario after a few interupts the games CTD'ed.

But when playing against someone this scenario barely happens, but I'm guessing that sometimes when your merc gets the interrupt you would like to skip it at first to perhaps allow for an even better angle in the second interrupt you may get, witch could lead to a CTD.

For me the CTD's are very frequent and it seems like it doesn't matter if it's mercs from AIM or from M.E.R.C or when trying random teams. It crashes the same moment the merc is hired, sometimes it works but most of the times it doesn't.

@hager: The crash only occurs in a Release Version. In Debug Version it works fine. We have to investigate that problem with Release Version.

This mod just keeps getting better. Smile

Any news on getting grenades/explosives to work in multiplayer? Seems like that's pretty much the only thing left to add to get it to the same state as regular single player.

Hey Guys,

I'm a huge fan of Ja2 eversince I can remember. Today I randomly noticed, that there is a MP Mod out there... GREAT!!!

So I downloaded the 1.13 Mod and german 1.4 MP File but unluckily the mod doesnt work for me:

File: .\sgp.cpp

Initializing Virtual File System Failed


I know that you helped Danno(or was it Janno *lol*?!) succesfully, but I thought my problem might be a different one, because of the different versions! I would be soooooo pleased if someone could help, to solve my problem! Ja2 Multiplayer would be such a blast!

You have to get the latest JA2 1.13 (from SVN or the one-click-installer made by scheinworld). Your JA2 1.13 version is too old.
