I wrote my post, while i was downloading the new files via svn... what can i say: THIS IS F*CKIN BRILLIANT! YOU GUYS MUST BE CRAZY!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Can't say this enough but it's absolutely brilliant! Job very well done!!

Just got 1 question: Is Coop fully functional (with saving,Bobby Rays,Laptop and fully conquering the map?).

I know about the grenade and rooftop issue's Smile.

The file is called "RandomTeams.xml" and has to stay on the servers TableData\Multiplayer folder. If this files exists and random teams in the HOST screen are choosen, the teams will be read from the XML file instead of hardcoded team members.

There is a sample how the file looks like:

EDIT: You can definie as many teams as you would like in the XML file. Also you can add as many merc as you would like to the teams.

I might add the following:
- The team name attributes you can find in the sample file are currently ignored. Right now they are only useful for easily identifying teams when working with the plain xml (in case one doesn't use xml comments anyway).
- Although you can add any number of mercs to a given team the game uses only the first x entries, where x is the team size you can set in MP host screen. Rule of thumb: The game randomly selects teams -- not mercs. Thus only adding up to six profiles to a team makes sense until team sizes increase.

That is, of course, unless the implementation has been changed.

Doesn't seem to work, I still get the hardcoded teams. I edited the .xml file in notepad as follows just to try it out

and then put it in the MULTIPLAYER\Servers\My Server\TableData folder as RandomTeams.xml (also tried MPTeams.xml). Is there anything I have misunderstood?

Ah yes thanks!

Had some more time to try it out now. Seems like it works from time to time, i.e. sometimes it reads from the xml file as it should and the custom teams work fine but sometimes the teams are hardcoded. It isn't consistent.

maybe in these games where you had the hardcoded backup teams, you were not the server?

I cant start a multiplayer game. I see my friend connecting to the server but i can't unlock the Laptop - i tried v.1.4 and 1.5 but it stays always gray.

The multiplayer is already integrated. Do I still need to load the version 1.5?

i play co op ( i have jagged alliance 2 gold + 1,13 (3111) + 1,5 MP mod) with my friend on lan but we cant compress time , tactical map is visible, i dont understand i was expecting more. someone with more experience pls write PM.

As far as I know, you can only play one map at a time. I have never done any more than that. So after you get your gear, you enter the map. Then when all of the baddies are eliminated, that commences the end of that particular game.

Back in action brought me here not that ive played it, just talking to friends about it and ja2 mp

wanted to play, so downloaded from here http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/w/page/4218359/Multiplayer

tried to play coop with one friend but just crashes after merc placement (tried twice)

came here, found out about 1.5, tried to dl it but the link is broken. (easy enough to find on google i guess though) but i think ill skip straight to svn and look at getting back into coding for it

i do web pages in php etc now, so my coding has continued Smile

thought it might be good to get some mention of 1.5 here: http://ja2v113.pbworks.com as there is none and for me the mp is broken in current 1.13 release

any way, whats most wanted feature/bug fix at the moment ?

Hi haydent,

welcome back Smile Haven't seen you here for ages (yes that's true).

The current MP Version is v2.0. I am not quite sure why you got crashes when placing merc, but I don't have thoses crashes, but I only test/debug MP by running the instances on a single PC. Maybe it has a few problems running over the internet. Does that crash only happen in COOP, or also in DM? What about debugging the crash and fixing that one? Smile

The last feature we added was enabling (syncing) explosives for the player and the AI. Currently there are no features in development for MP, but it would be nice to see inventory (body armor, weapons, ...) synchronized.

BTW, we still have the old anoying bug, that when playing COOP, and an interrupt is calculated (on the client and not on the server) there is a big chance, that the game hangs. Only ALT + E (giving the turn back to the client) on the server helps. I really want to see that old/nasty bug fixed Smile

with testing can you still run the exe twice to test against yourself, or you need 2 installs ?

i just got the latest snv you posted, but i loaded it up in 2008 VS and hit build and got:

"15>LINK : fatal error LNK1000: Internal error during IncrBuildImage"

is there a guide somewhere on how to get set up and running for development , its been awhile ...

very good. now you are ready to go.

you need an own install for each instance on your pc to get it working. same as years ago Smile

edit: yiu have to copy zhe files ftom the official svn gamedir first to your ja2 install directory an then copy the gamedir files from the svn development gamedir folder to your ja2 install dir
