It is a question that has plagued Jagged Alliance fans for nearly a decade now, but tonight in this one post special we reveal the facts they didn't want you to know. We will show you the elaborate steps taken to hide the truth from the general public. Some readers may find the following post offensive, readers discretion is recommended.
Where is Arulco?
Sorry for bringing up a dead argument (see argument here http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=215158&page=0&fpart=1#Post176058 ). While i was reading those posts i realised i had always presumed JA2 was set in S.America. After sifting through the evidence i'm not too sure now, this is just a bit of fun...
In the Prof.Dat files only the following are listed as "Hispanic" Arulcan nationals:
Miguel
Carlos
Enrico
Sal
Join us after this short commercial break when we uncover the shocking details hidden in your very own Prof.dat file. When "Where is Arulco" returns...
The following are listed as "White" Arulcans:
Dimitri, Shank, Vince, Maddog, Perko, Jake, Steve, Rat, Bob, Maria, Angel, Joey, Damon, Kyle, Pablo, Gabby, Fred, Madame, Martha, Jake, Pacos, Skipper, Sergeant, Armand, Eldin, Fredo, Walter, Brewster,Derek, Oliver, Waldo, Daryl, Herve, Peter, Alberto, Carlo, Manny, Calvi, Carl.
"Black" Arulcans
Dynamo, Fatima, Gordon, Arnie, Tina, Matt.
The population of Arulco does not lend itself to being a S.American country. Another strange element of the Prof.dat is the fact Both Miguel and Steve hate Germans, why would a South American hate a European national?
Even more curious is the fact, original inhabitants, whom include "Yanni", are listed as Asian. This would suggest "Arulco is a Eurasian country.
Further proof is the effect WW2 had on "Arulco"
Quote:It has been widely documented that the switch in kings was due to the population's belief that the Chivaldori family was too pacifistic to deal with a world at war. The nation believed the Cordona family had the fortitude to lead them through the turmoil
At the end of the Cordona family's first ten-year term, the world was at peace again and the reigning king lost the 1948 election, removing the Cordonas from power .
To have such an effect they would have had to have been within the scope of an attacking power. It would have been 1938 when the Cordonas took over.Would a S.Amercian country have had that much fear of a European problem so early that they decided to abandon a 120 year old monarchy in favour of a more war capable leader?
That's another thing, S.America isn't exactly famous for its Royals. It's not uncommon for countries in Europe to have a ruling family who are actually from a different country. See Britain... this could explain the Hispanic influence.
The other Hispanic type characters in the game are mostly working class, Airport Deliveries, Barstaff etc... immigrants
Why would an exiled S.American King flee to Europe?
Enrico arranges to meet in Prague, why would he be in Europe? Surely if he was in exile he would go to North America.
*******************************************
The map of Arulco indicates it is in the South West of a land mass with Tracona to the north, it is surrounded by sea to the west and south. If we presume Arulco is a subtropical country in Eurasia and factor in all the in game references there is a good chance it was based on a fictional country in the Balkans. That said, there are a lot of cliched references to other countries and it is a game world designed to tick all the boxes of a country in turmoil that needs saving.
Blue Dot: Most likely location of Arulco given Geographical, historical, and game references.
Green Dot: Possible location
Red Dots: Imagined route Hamous took to get from Paris to Istanbul.
Edit: Yellow marks the Sub tropical areas.

Off_TopicLol, i've backed up my claims with in game references lads. Unless you can do the same you are just making presumptions based on a few Spanish sounding town names. Back it up boys, back it up
no problem paddy:
1. consider that south-american hobby to count oneself as white as possible
2. have a look onto your white arulcan friends - compare pinkskin (white) vs tan (latino)
3. search for that one: :uhh:

edith:
lockie's friends contribute nothing but a terrorist to the arulcan people

HeadrockIt's not, it's a triangle (Chitzena->Meduna->Balime).
Chitzena would be Achziv (northern resort town with bungalows), Grumm would be Haifa (Industrial), Meduna would be Tel-Aviv (upper-class), and Balime would be Eilat (Resort town). Then Cambria is Jerusalem (Central, with a large hospital and university). Alma could be any of the million training bases in the Negev. Drassen would be Amman (in Jordan), and Omerta could EASILY be any of the Palestinian cities (poor bastards, and rebels too). To get the true geographical point of view I'm trying to convey, simply assume that north is to the upper left corner of the screen. Then get a real-world map.
and squeeze an tear arulco till it fits into a diamond (omerta, jordania), btw what happened to the westbank?

As I wrote in the thread mentioned by O.P: I strongly believe that Arulco is in Latin America.
People like Enrico Chivaldori, Miguel Cordona, Manuel (in UB), Carlos, Angel, Maria, Pablo, Herve, places like San Mona, Meduna, Chitzena, Balime, jungles...Arulco being a Balkan country seems very improbable. Even Arulco itself sounds hispanic. The fact that the rebels are lead by hispanics also indicates that Arulco is a Latin American country.
I would say Arulco is a "white" South American Country, like Argentina or Uruguay but with lots of American immigrants aside from Spanish and Italians. There are also lots of people with German descent in Arulco, as there also is in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay. It actually bothers me a bit that so many of the NPC:s are Americans. It would be more realistic if they had more hispanic names and looks.
Since Arulco has all kinds of climates, I would say it
