I might give this another go- now that i've read some tips for dealing with the police- but i'd like some advise on making my IMP- i saw someone suggest Nightops and Ambidextrous, but is Amb something that would help til the end of the game? I noticed that Tex was kicking some major tail with it in the first town, but i thought it might get useless as the game progressed. Would autoweapons also be a good choice? Also i didn't find this guy Rudedog the first time- what does he add to the team? How much need is there for a leadership specialist in this game?

Rudedog is awesome well worth it for the lines alone! Ambi is useful to the end due to the close nature of the mod. Just make sure you have a good Rifle/Shotty as backup Smile

He's pretty much an up close an personal shotgun guy. Can't remember exact traits though but he certainly does pack a punch Smile

He's better than Rosebud.

Same as any Mod really, there may be characters who will not join you/respond favourably if you don't have enough leadership. Like all things good with JA, every game is different, if you played Vanilla JA2 without decent leadership, you'd have a very different game.

Yeah, the guys figured that if they put my real stats on the guy, he'd be a one man wrecking crew.

I actually got this thing back out of the mothballs recently as well.

I think Its time to start map making again if I can get the damn beta editor working.

Somebody that has used it in the last four years want to give an old dog a paw with it?

Have you tried the editor with 1.13. It's a little more stable though has some compatibility issues with exit grids sometimes. Dunno if those bugs were fixed though.

Ask Khor1255, Will Gates and the Scorpion as they were the most active mappers recently Smile

It gave me gyp. Only liked editing virgin vanilla maps... wouldn't even open MFM ones (& yes I did swap out the tilesets & JA2set from the default UC ones). Went back to my tried & tested method and meanwhile have forgot how to even get the Betamap running. That which is not used whithers on the vine; I need the memory space for other things (that's my head not my PC!). Shame coz it had much better solution for door locks & factions amongst other things.

The beta's better for locks and factions. In UBE you have to "copy" locks and "fool" the programme into reluctantly surrendering the faction info!

LOL, well I'll have to see if I can get my beta copy working again. Though isn't it limited to editing vanilla maps?

Also can snow sectors be added to the original JA2? I have a few that would be great for the Eastern Mountains (that are not quite there yet!).

The Snow could be used is you copied the tilesets from UB, I'd wager. There is the extent of my knowledge as it has to then be added to the .ini file IIRC.

I can get the beta editor working. I loaded a map name A9 into the new MAPS folder that I created but when I saved another map with a different file name, it never recognized it and I get runtime errors galore.

I don't remember where i got Ayana from the first go round but no Ayana yet- i thought i had her by the time i got to Calisto, so maybe if u get Rudedog- you don't get Ayana.

I don't remember where i got Ayana from the first go round but no Ayana yet- i thought i had her by the time i got to Calisto, so maybe if u get Rudedog- you don't get Ayana.

I followed someones advice about taking out the police in the first town and this time i owned spike and his subway gang.

Ayana replaces Flo from Merc.

Maybe you mean Elhi... in which case you need to do a bit of work to activate her properly but she lives in A10 when she's all fixed.

Ok again i'm having the same problem as my first try with this game- i'm not able to train militia in c13- the middle sector of Calisto- what I am doing wrong? i wiped out all the red shirts and the police and it's still giving me hostile sector. Funny thing is it's not blinking red. Is there yet maybe a third faction that I don't know about or does killing all the police cause this problem?

I am able to train militia in the sector but not from that sector- from the adjacent ones- betty fung says something about me not being welcome there, but she sells to me. Some random dude in the sector is saying something about a police commissioner, but i don't see any police commissioner in the sector.

there is one respawning guy (you have to shoot him twice), in the game i'm playing he did'nt show up at all, whicj is annoying 'cause you have to walk the guy who sells stuff to betty out of the sector and you can't hire tex. he normally comes back after the cutscene.

well if the guy is there and my sector is full of militia- won't they spot him and kill him? I walked around with one of my mercs- maybe i need to walk around some more- i checked the entire police station to make sure one wasn't hiding in there- i'll walk the sector again tonight to see if i can find him- do you know where in the sector the guy you are talking about pops up? Guy who sells to betty? - never saw him.

Getting ammo for the colt m4a1 or m4 has been impossible so far- can't even buy it from BR's. Is this going to be a problem til the end? I found 2 the twist barrels, but i haven't used it on the car-15 i got from the subway because i'm afraid i won't be able to use the gun once i "upgrade" it.
Is stealing weapons extremely benefical in this game? I stole one weapon from this guy in one of the northern sectors of calisto and it was a sweet HK that kicks butt- sorry can't remember the exact name atm.

he is in the police-station, but sometimes he's hiding under carpet => you need a save in which you have not yet secured that sector

i found a guy in a white shirt hiding behind one of the buildings. As far as the police commissioner...hope he's not important cuz i guess i blew that.

Now i'm having another problem....ahhhh! I'm taking the sector where Claudia is. It's a hostile sector. And i'm killing them- but everyone's morale is going down- what is the deal? I reloaded cuz the first time i killed Claudia and my whole teams morale went to pot. Now i'm in there again and i am making sure not to kill or hit claudia, but i can see my morale is going down again...esp Rude Dog and he is doing alot of the killing. Are there certain troops in this sector that i'm not supposed to kill? Maybe i'm just supposed to kill the red shirts and not the all black clothes ones? This is very confusing...hope someone can help me here.

yeah, the first to get shot recently in east-atremo was a police officer. but what to do if that respawning po in cetral calisto does not show up, but the sector is hostile? i also shot those two corrupt police-npcs in ex san-mona before talking to anyone (well, i played it before) and did live with very bad morale afterwards for a few days,

morale is back up now thanks. i'm doing mostly nightops right now because day ops is insanely hard.
at least in certain sectors because there are tons of enemies. this last sector i took was fun- a bunch of badies piled up in one spot and i'm using rosebud as my grenadier- dropped a cocktail right in the middle of them followed by a grenade - mass bbq lol. Rosebud's morale went thru the roof lol. The bizon seems to be one vicious machine for night ops with a silencer attached.

Early game ammo for that puppy is rare rare rare. Hit a gun runner base or explore the underground factories until it becomes available on Bray or Tony. (Tony only available if you fixed Claudia not be same faction or didn't kill her yet... as errors go I quite like it, e.g. maybe they're an item/related/old friends etc)

I have a fully tricked out - except for the rod and spring i think- m4a1/gp30 now and i found the gun guy- i'm guessing Bray since i had to kill Tony since i didn't know about the Claudia thing until i had been playing for a while and didn't feel like starting a new game. Runon sentences ftw haha. Course i found the Draganov now and i'm playing around with that nice toy for day ops:) Is it just me or is that gun overpowered? I can shoot it 2 or 3 times - the enemy doesn't have a chance. I had one instance where my imp was in the open and i capped two guys in one turn.....It i was funny in one spot there was a pile of bodies- it was in the sector where the police don't attack you (Port Kip). The enemies wouldn't advance pass a certain point- it was like there was an insivible barrier. So i would just go around the corner and pop each one until i had a nice pile of dead guys lol.
