Any way to get him out of his vest, Scooter? Everyone is wearing Zylon this season and he stands out like a sore thumb.

1. simply copy and rename let's say blood's npc file to his
2. hire him without gear but in this case he won't taje of his new vest

Only (2) Hire without equipment, then equip in theatre. He will love his Zylon instead. Don't do the (1) above because you'll lose subtle differences.

I once read You could remove the vest by treating it with compound and bug mommies juices.

This post said it is only possible if You stick to a certain order of treatment.

I forgot this order since I never tried it out.

Yeah stick C18 on it then Queen Jelly and vest go bye bye.

Then put what you want on there, but that is a hell of a waste of C18 and Queen Jelly. Personally I would hire without equipment and then stick whatever kit ya wanted on him or just use the Kevlar Leather treated with C18 or Jelly. Plus not forgetting a pair of Sawn-Off's for enjoyment Smile

In the latest 1.13 I hired Nails and didn't buy his starting equipment. He still came with the leather jacket. I haven't had to do the bug quest yet but Nails won't even let me put C18 on his jacket. Too bad I sold the kevlar leather a couple weeks before I hired him....

Wait... he won't get angry about you destroying his jacket?
Now THAT sounds like a bug. We'll have to fix that. He should go berserk, shooting everybody in sight, if you destroy his jacket!

It's the little personal traits that make JA2 mercs so fun.

Doesn't Rid Adaire put out fires? How would he help out in Drassen? Nothing burning there.

If you don't leave Drassen completely in flames, you're not attacking properly. Very Happy

Nails isn't too bad actually, worth his cost at least. Give him a shotty and a rifle and then let him mow the buggers down. If you are clever you can change his Jacket to something better, but Kevlar Leather with C18 is the best route for him as it doesn't have much in the way of penalties either.

I have a soft spot for old Edgar, he's slow and a risk at the start, but i always hire him. His experience, marksmanship, explosive, mechanical + Lock picking skills can be put to great use.

His character quirk was a great piece of Game Design if you ask me.

i always hire him - he's a one-to-one copy of a canadian friend, should be a trombone he won't hand over, though - maybe i rename him again (used to do that in vanilla)
