Hey, just signed up. I've been playing 1.13 for a couple of hours now and was wondering how long it takes for an enemy patrol to respawn?

afaik they aren't respawnin' - they are conscripted in special sectors and then marched to their destruction. how fast? depends on what is in your ini - and what level you're playing.

-> [data-1.13\ini]

They move out from Meduna and up the map. The settings for the number of troops in the queen's pool, their frequency, size and composition are adjustable in the ja2_options.ini file via the INI Editor in the .\Ja2 directory.

There are a ton of posts about suggested settings in the "General Discussion" part of the 1.13 forums further down the list.

Great, thanks for the quick reply. One more question, I can't decide whether to turn the 'enemies drop all items' setting on or not. Do most people play with it on? Will it ruin the balance?

most play with on, i guess - and it totally ruins the balance if you ask me. i play with on but strange personal rules - i would have it off and br set to lowest when you are new to 1.13

That's a personal choice, really. It can get you some great stuff early on but it ramps up the gun progress too early and the game can be a bit less fun that way. I suggest you try the game without using for the first time through. Next time you play, turn it on and see what you think.

There are a couple of XML modifications in the 1.13 forums below for using the standard drop system that might prove more interesting.

The ramp up of equipment is not really the fault of dropall but of our using better equipment in making the game harder, earlier. A higher difficulty factor oddly makes the game *easier* if you can survive a few battles because it scales up the soldier's equipment by up to two coolness factors on Insane.
