Thanks Whoami , I thought I'd try it that way first . I have someEnglish text / speech due to also overlaying O/T's translation file , any chance of an exe. ?
EDIT : Very nice load screens / intro screens ,gun sounds are pretty good and 'solid' sounding , there are lots of graphic touches ( covered wagon , oil filled barrels on fire ), trenches well implemented , and some of the items are weird ! porn , tins of biscuits , packets of crisps , bra's for the women (Madonna , eat your heart out )also like the comic style intro , not sure if german B2B had this , I might have skipped it !
Only drawback for me personally is lack of hi-res .

I believe the FO prOn was only for 'entertainment' value, and it was a tradable item as well. There may have been a quest that featured it (as in JA2@Estoni, but not quite the same) but I don't recall.
Time to load it up and try out the base FO2 game again. There are quite a number of mods for that game, which has never had a source code release. Some of the mods are buggy but they're different enough to warrant a replay.
Edit: The Russian Fallout modding community seems to intersect the Russian JA2 modding community. Our community, at times, has done the same. Their symbiosis, however, has produced an interesting hybrid, at least in terms of game assets.

A wee update on this mod , as I've been trawling through it this weekend , along with WF + item mod ,
1 grenades reeeaaallly hurt .
2 on some of the town maps , everybody wants a piece a me !
3 the gun graphics are very good
4 there's a nice little tool carrying bag , though why you can't put the usual stuff into the toolbox I just dunno
5 knife attacks are (by enemy) swift and deadly , they can run for about a mile and slash you twice !
6 Klaxon alarm is excellent , mines everywhere and tripflares aplenty
7 Palm PC . Left batteries waaay back too far to try it out
8 Check point north east is freakin deadly , I've spent at least a coupla hours making inch by inch progress , with the seemingly hardest bunker to overcome yet !
9 some nice touches in towns , ahh , if you try it you'll see them
